Backstory:

Naomi, born to a poor village somewhere in Caliss was to have a calm life as a farmhand. Was, until at a young age her eyes glared up with light, destroying everything around her. Naomi had an incredible aptitude for light magic and no way to control it. At first, her family tried to lock her away in a basement. Thinking it a game, the young Naomi destroyed it. Next they tried a barn, and the same thing happened. Even villagers who scared of her tried to harm her, were instead pushed back by the uncontrollable lights that protected Naomi. Scared and with no other options, the village pooled together it’s resources and hired a bodyguard to take her somewhere to control her power.

Naomi at first loved the sight of the Magedom of Foen. It was the biggest city she had ever seen, and she was to learn magic there. First she was sent to one mage who attempted to teach her the basics. A month later she had been sent to another tutor, and then the next… And so on. Each mage was unable to control Naomi’s free spirit, as she enjoyed her chaotic powers as well as freedom. Being taught tradition, the history of magic, proper pose or control. None of it interested her.

Archmage Holden, an old wise man was eventually given her care. Holden’s approach was an interesting one. At first he spoke nothing of magic to Naomi, instead bringing her into his home and slowly getting to know her. Only after a while did he begin to delve into teaching Naomi, and this was only after she had decided she liked him. Holden made a discovery, Naomi lost her sight when she used her magic. The light was so blinding that her eyes turned bring yellow as well making her effectively blind, something none of her other teachers had noticed. Only when she stopped casting would her sight return. With strict and careful practice and tutoring, Naomi managed to retain sight in one of her eyes. So while she was still very much a loose canon, at least now she could aim her magic.

Holden had another student whom Naomi also grew quite close to. Fallon, although being much older, was her fellow student and the two practiced and honed their crafts under Holden’s care. Naomi enjoyed this simple and quiet life with the two of them, but it was one day broken as Fallon left without a word. Furious, and insulted Naomi left ignoring Holden’s requests to stay. She followed after him with only a clue that he’d gone to join some Allied Guard.
