  1. Before I start, I want to go into people's complaints before the show came out: Sokka not being as mysognistic, Katara not "taking down patriarchies" & Aang not having "fun" detours":
  2. These character points are important, but not as widespread as people remember, especially Aang's detours:
  3.
  4. Sokka was mysognistic in 1 scene (opening scene of the series) then in the 1 episode he needed to be (Ep 4), learned his lesson in that episode & then wasn't for just about the rest of the series.
  5. Katara was "taking down patriarchies" in basically the same manner: She took offense to Sokka talking down to her in the opening scene of the series, little to nothing of it for the entire season until Episode 18 (where it mattered), then became a Waterbending master, proving herself.
  6. Aang taking "fun" detours? Again important but not widespread:
  7. He took 3 fun detours in Season 1: Ride the elephant koi (Ep 4), ride the Omashu mailing system (Ep 5) & see the Great Divide (Ep 11).
  8. In fact, after he learned about Sozin's Comet from Roku (Ep 8), they all but stopped save for Ep 11 but seeing as how that's agreed even by the fans as the true filler episode of the SERIES, it's absolutely being cut with nothing of value being lost whatsoever. The rest of the stops that setup episodes were to set up camp, resupply stops or to figure out where they were on the world map.
  9.
  10. Now I'm not saying these aren't pivotal moments, lessons or traits. Sokka becomes an accepting leader & accepts his own shortcomings later in the series (especially in S3E4). Katara after been given her chance to prove she can be a skilled Waterbender gave others a chance (Toph in the Gaang S2E8 & Zuko near the end of the series). Aang came into his responsibilities as the Avatar, but also became his own Avatar, not just copying his predecessors.
  11.
  12. Also, I'm not saying Michael Dante DiMartino & Bryan Konietzko had no reason to leave production, them leaving wasn't a red flag or this series won't be bad. Just that, IMO, people were misremembering the show.
  13. They'll have flaws. They'll learn in their respective episodes & carry it through the series.
  14.
  15. And If they don't? It'll suck.
  16. Anyway, here we go...
