  1. Health History Statement
  2.
  3. My family (including me myself) are in generally good health though there are some issues which need investigating. However most issues seem to be indicative of poor lifestyle than a genetic predisposition.
  4. In my immediate family my mother recently had a stroke and suffers from high cholesterol, my father has an issue with bone spurs. There is no other history of stroke in my family so I argue that her issue is primarily a lifestyle one. Similarly my brother has had a history of substance abuse which is uncommon in my family save for an uncle on my mother’s side. Cancer is another potential fear however I know of only three members who have had it: my sister, mother (melanoma both), and my father’s mother (thyroid). The melanoma is a concern as they are fair skinned like I am, so sun exposure can be more problematic for us.
  5. Branching out further there are my uncles. As I said before, my mother’s older brother suffered from substance abuse, however he also has Hepatitis C. Another lifestyle-driven disease. Her younger brother has Crohn’s disease. The cause of the disease is thus far unknown as far as I know from looking at WebMD, genetics being a possible answer. However, no one else in my family has this issue. On my father’s side, his younger brother has Parkinson’s. Again, the only one in the family. And his father may have had diabetes, though it was onset.
  6. All in all, only a few of the issues plaguing my entire family are not caused by lifestyle. This is good because it means I can correct them myself. However it will take some effort as I do not currently lead a dignified lifestyle.
