  1. When you startup your machine, as i'm explaining for debian-based systems, you'll realize that you can't login through your display manager, wether that's gnome, lxdm, or whichever dm you use, it loops when you try to login.

  3. So to bypass this, you need to startup your machine and get to the login. Once at the login you need to ctrl + alt + f1/f2 depending on your computer. You should see tty, and login as you would usually. In some cases you can run 'startx' or 'x' and it will launch the manager and you you're in as usual. But sometimes it doesn't work, and you get a black screen, well to bypass this all you'd need to do is run 'startx' or 'x', then ctrl + c, and it should start your dm.
