- Until then, she had only grasped the image and flow of her ‘kill’ within the confines of her
- own body. But after taking up a weapon, she began to think and feel in terms of wielding
- one, even when she wasn't actually holding it. Like a primitive human who had learned to
- use tools, she had grasped the sensation that something other than myself can be used in a
- fight.
- ‘It’s been quite a while since then… but I probably still can’t win.’
- It was none other than that finely honed sense which allowed her to clearly perceive the
- disparity in their abilities. She understood that her opponent was an existence beyond
- human, yet she felt neither a loss of fighting spirit nor a sense of resignation.
- She accepted the present reality and transformed the anger and frustration she felt toward
- herself into strength for the next time. And the next, and the next, and the next… she
- innocently imagined the figures of themselves, who would one day arrive at that point and
- live on from there.
