there is this cat that sometimes comes around outside my house and he's really friendly. overly friendly. he sometimes expects to come into the house with me when i'm returning home. i picked him up about 2 nights ago and realized he's declawed, so i figured he must be an outdoor cat who lives in the area. however, he has no collar on so it's hard to be sure. this is not the only cat i've encountered multiple times on my way home either.

my mom recently met the cat and she became worried that it was lost. she noticed that there is no tattoo in the cats ear to indicate he's been spayed. she asked our downstairs tenants if they knew the cat, and they said they leave food out for it because they see him so often (which explains why cats are hanging out outside my house). my mom decided to bring the cat inside, but (go figure) he didn't get along with my other two cats, and we really were not looking to take in a new cat. so my mom took his picture and we put it up on facebook's lost and found pets and craigslist and such, and let the cat back outside.

some lady responded saying it was her cat daniel, and expressed that she missed him a lot. i explained that he's around my house often and that she should arrange to come get him. that was last night, and so far we haven't seen daniel again. i hope he comes by so we can bring him inside and he can reunited with his family.

i feel anxious for him because it rained yesterday and he was still outside from days earlier. he's also declawed, so he probably can't hunt as well as he's supposed to (declawing cats is horrible and you should feel horrible for fucking up your cat if you're one of these people). i can't help but feel really bad about not forcing daniel to stay in the basement or something despite the issues with our cats. up until this lady responded, we still were unsure if he was just an outdoor cat or if some family moved away and just left the cat outside (in which case we were going to try and arrange a home for him with someone). i really hope daniel shows up again.
