Please read the global rules and any /vp/ rules, we are not exempt.

It's highly recommended that you lurk here for a week or two before posting in Wifi General. It is a great way to learn etiquette and regulars. (if you're simply looking for a trade, and are going to leave here forever afterward, you may ignore this.)

Please note that etiquette includes not trading hacked Pokémon and warning people that your Pokémon were bred with hacked parents. While WFG used to be the catch-all general, now there are specific threads for such things.


ㅡㅡㅡSo You've lurked, now what?ㅡㅡㅡ
Get a name. Names make you easier to identify when posting, and helps when you're trying to get a trade going. Remember this name will haunt you forever. It helps build credibility too. Since you've lurked, you should have seen a plethora of names already. Please try to avoid anything similar or anything that could be confused with another poster. We had 3 Adams at one point.

Compile a list of haves and wants. Whether this be a Pastebin, Google doc, or image. Remember to include important details such as ball, ability, nature, IVs, and egg moves.

Play nicely, and be excellent to each other.


ㅡㅡㅡStruggling to get netplay working?ㅡㅡㅡ
For direct interactions you will need to register your friends friend code to your 3DS friends list, and the reverse. Access this by tapping the smiley face on the top right of your home menu. Other problems include:

Nothing's happening: Tap the online button that'll be on the bottom right of the touch screen when in the Festival Plaza.
Trade requests continually staling: Chances are both players are trying to send the invitation at the same time. You can only see and accept invitations when you're not in any menu.
I can't see my friend: This is usually just SM being garbage, but this can also happen when one player goes online before the second adds him in return. Both parties reconnecting usually fixes this.
I can't find an acquaintances 'mon on the GTS, but it wasn't sniped: This is almost always just SM being garbage. Sometimes narrowing the search down further works, sometimes it doesn't.
No Minigames show up: This is SM being garbage. Usually hosting a Minigame will get you in touch with other random passerbyers, letting you see the ones they host.


ㅡㅡㅡWhat do these terms mean?ㅡㅡㅡ
FC: Friend code
IGN: In-game Name
TR: Trade Request
BR: Battle Request
HA: Hidden Ability
HP: Hidden power
EM: Egg Moves
Touch Trade: Trading for Dex entries only; trading and then immediately trading back.
1-6IV: How many perfect stats the Pokémon has. May include 00 speed on Pokémon bred for Trick Room usage, and 30s on Hidden Power Pokémon.
Pentaperfect: A Pokémon with five perfect stats that are in the right places.
Hexaperfect: A Pokémon with six perfect stats that are in the right places.
Derp or Shitmon: A random low value Pokémon used as trade fodder.
Leftovers or Breedjects: Leftover Pokémon from projects, usually having decent IVs, egg moves, balls, or nature. Not to be confused with the item Leftovers.
Balltism: Caring about the ball that Pokémon are bred or caught in. Some try to match ball colour with Pokémon, some want their entire collection in one ball, some exclusively catch bird Pokémon in nest balls. It doesn't make any sense, just go along with it.
