They were the first victims and carriers of the parasite now known as Chimera. The parasite waits within the host for 2-8 months as it gathers genetic information on everything that passes through the hosts body, then the parasite triggers a coma. The hosts body undergoes massive mutations taking upon traits of the various creatures the hosts had encountered previously. When possible it also shifts the hosts body to female. Upon awakening 90% of the victims are feral and animalistic and subsequently go on rampages spreading Chimera through bites, venom and scratches.
