  1. These are my personal opinions and wishes about the commentary dos and don'ts during the sgdq race. These are not hard rules or requirements for being on the couch or anything. I trust everyone on the couch to conduct themselves reasonably already, and if you strongly disagree with any of these, feel free to ignore it. But I'd be happy if you read and keep it in mind :).
  2.
  3.
  4. 1. Don't mention names for things that have their names because a player made a mistake (e.g. John Missile, Pulling a Kirby)
  5.
  6.
  7. 2. Don't explain route differences with too many technical details, it's really confusing if you don't know the rest of the game really well. Something along the lines of "Slightly slower but gives you more resources early" or "too difficult to make faster consistently" is good enough.
  8.
  9.
  10. 3. Avoid talking about tricks or routes nobody will be doing, even in passing. Like HBJ or Late Wave.
  11.
  12. However DO talk about tricks we might fail but will obviously try, like Charge Beamst double or Lottery.
  13.
  14.
  15. 4. I'm not sure if we're decided on this yet. But we might allow last place to skip suitless heal. DO hype this up a little bit, but try not to blatantly lie about it. Doing suitless without getting hit isn't particularly difficult, but the audience doesn't need to know that. Knowing that everything pirates do one-shot you and a death means the run is over is enough to raise the tension.
  16.
  17.
  18. 5. Try not to talk about exact damage numbers.
  19. Fine: Hives die in 3 missiles and two beam shots. Supers do 5 missiles worth of damage. Ridley dies in 10 supers. Each beam upgrade except for charge increases damage.
  20.
  21. Less Fine: Missiles do 20, beam does 2 right now and Hives have 64 health. Supers do 100 damage. Each beam upgrade increases damage by 1
  22.
  23. I don't mind this last point too much but I think it flows way better with relative damage comparison.
