  3. As the World Cup was approaching back in 2002, people's expectations have been higher than ever. This was probably because the media did a pretty good job advertising each team on TV with loads of other commercials concerning the World Cup. However, this year will also be remembered for a special footballer who scored the fastest World Cup goal of all time.
  4. Born and raised in Adapazari, Sakarya Province, on September 1, 1971, Hakan Şükür was always interested in football. He began his career with Skaryaspor, after which he was able to make his professional debut right after his 17th birthday. On February 26, 1989, there was a match played against Eskişehirspor and it was tied 2 - 2. This is when Hakan Şükür entered as a substitute, scoring and winning the match. After that he was able to score 18 Super League goals in the 3-year spell.
  5. In the summer of 1990, Hakan Şükür was able to score 6 goals in 27 games, which allows them to win the 6th place. Because of this, their Turkish team was able to have a debut shortly after. However, this was only the beginning for Hakan Şükür, as later he signed for the national giants Galatasaray SK. He then received the nickname 'Bull of the Bosphorus', as he was able to score 19 goals in 30 matches within the first year in the new team.
  6. He also became known as the 2nd Turkish player to ever play in the Serie A, in 1995 as he moved to an Italian club. However, the following winter, Hakan Şükür returned to his country and the Galatasaray, as he was not able to settle. After he returned, Hakan Şükür was once again able to help his team win the cup by scoring 16 goals, after which he was able to collect 38 goals in the league.
  7. His career and skills just began to grow from there, as Hakan Şükür was able to show his skills in many different opportunities. One thing that stood out the most was the World cup of 2002, which was held in Japan and South Korea. There he was able to score once and land his team into 3rd place. But, on June 29, Hakan Şükür managed to score the goal which became known as the 'fastest ever goal in a FIFA World Cup', against 10.8 seconds of South Korea.
  8. While this is something that happened a while ago, it still deserves loads of praise. No matter what happened in his career Hakan Şükür did not give up, as he practiced and only became better and better, which was obviously shown in his matches. Currently, he is known as the retired football player, who played striker. However, ignoring the current scandal that's been going on, most of us will remember Hakan Şükür by the nicknames "Bull of the Bosphorus" and Kral, and as the man who scored 'fastest ever goal in a FIFA World Cup'.
