- [2013-11-05 16:17:59] <SNAFK> 5) News that 3.x is allowed in this game of PF.
- [2013-11-05 16:18:38] <SNAFK> Next thing - we encounter yuan-ti psion and die horrible death.
- [2013-11-05 16:19:32] <SNAFK> Fightan' Magic Book already in use, which comes as the surprise for me right in the middle of combat
- [2013-11-05 16:20:18] <ARF> I said it right at the start
- [2013-11-05 16:20:29] <SNAFK> At the start of the campaign?
- [2013-11-05 16:21:08] <Emo_Duck> Would you have made your character differently if it had been said explicitly? If there's some 3.5e character option you have your eye on, why not just ask? :V
- [2013-11-05 16:21:21] <ARF> It even says to approach the gm about anything non-standard
- [2013-11-05 16:22:20] <Emo_Duck> Let me ask you this, though: What is it you want out of the Violet character? I couldn't figure out what it was she wanted, or how she wanted to go about things. She seemed to be talking more to herself than anyone else. :V
- [2013-11-05 16:24:56] <SNAFK> ARF: ... true. Though I did approached you with some things and it was restricted. Though, I taken it completely one-sided - that players can ask you about something non-standard. Not that the game incorporates non-standard already.
- [2013-11-05 16:25:50] <SNAFK> Emo_Duck: Here is my problem. Why OOC?
- [2013-11-05 16:27:40] <Emo_Duck> 'Cause we're playing with other people, and sometimes you have something to say to the people instead of the characters. Sometimes I wonder about things my character wouldn't be wondering about. Sometimes there's a detail that I don't get, but my character wouldn't stop to examine whether the window is on the left or the right side of the room. :V
- [2013-11-05 16:30:53] <Parva> Violet has made no mention of what she does, what she did, or what she plans to do, no goals (beyond "let's get Parva and Anhrefn to marry because lulz!"), etc. And she hasn't exactly made herself approachable, or trustworthy.
- [2013-11-05 16:31:58] <SNAFK> >Because lulz
- [2013-11-05 16:32:48] <ARF> Remember what I said about being a member of a party snafk
- [2013-11-05 16:33:04] <ARF> Your character has to want to engage with the others, to contribute to the common well being
- [2013-11-05 16:33:07] <ARF> It's kinda like communis
- [2013-11-05 16:34:46] <SNAFK> I can not but stress the fact that Anhrefn was able to know most of it.
- [2013-11-05 16:35:22] <ARF> Yes losing anhrefn was a blow for us all
- [2013-11-05 16:35:41] <SNAFK> Also, may I remind you that I asked to start with several minutes of explanation Violet was giving. But no, we started the session from arriving into the village
- [2013-11-05 16:37:09] <SNAFK> It wasn't nice.
- [2013-11-05 16:39:43] <SNAFK> Wait, if without me, getting all defensive - Parva, what do you mean - Violet isn't approachable?
- [2013-11-05 16:40:41] <ARF> I missed that it seems. I see it in the logs
- [2013-11-05 16:41:03] <Parva> from the get-go, Violet has seemed to have her own inscrutable agenda, and was perfectly willing to manipulate the other PCs into doing/getting what she wanted. Or didn't you wonder why everyone seemed to believe so 100% that Violet was chaotic evil?
- [2013-11-05 16:41:52] <SNAFK> ARF: no worries then. It feels better, knowing that it was a honest mistake
- [2013-11-05 16:43:16] <SNAFK> Parva: Oh. Thanks. Though I question intelligence scores of the characters, who leave her with them without demanding ANY explanations.
- [2013-11-05 16:43:51] <Parva> it's called "trust"
- [2013-11-05 16:45:18] <SNAFK> Trusting evil Anhrefn, who have his loins enslaved, and evil tiefling, who did that?
- [2013-11-05 16:46:10] <Parva> Anhrefn didn't go apeshit until we hit the badlands and all the antimagic. He seemed stable, if odd, at first meeting.
- [2013-11-05 16:46:42] <Parva> Nobody is a greedy bastard, which means Parva can trust him to always look out for Number One
- [2013-11-05 16:47:02] <Parva> Laethirna is a sympathetic figure, and Parva is apparently the Party Mom
- [2013-11-05 16:47:16] <Parva> so that was a pretty obvious connection
- [2013-11-05 16:47:22] <SNAFK> And Rin?
- [2013-11-05 16:48:52] <Parva> aside from randomly appearing in the castle, she didn't give any indication of being trouble
- [2013-11-05 16:49:13] <Parva> and, again, being the Party Mom, Parva was inclined to at least give her a place to stay for a while (before they developed a relationship)
- [2013-11-05 16:50:07] <SNAFK> I still fail to see how Violet is unapproachable - she never turned down any attempt to talk with her or evaded questions intentionally
- [2013-11-05 16:51:13] <SNAFK> The only one, who approached her with any questions is Anhrefn so far. I mean - he is the only one, who even attempted to approach.
- [2013-11-05 16:53:09] <Parva> no, but neither is Parva, at least (who is a good-aligned character), really ready to extend serious trust after: the end of the trip on the badlands, then Violet interrupting the dialog on the plane of samurai, getting us into the first troubles; then returning and implying that Sibyl was double-crossing us; plus all the talk of keeping a ledger of insults from Laethirna, beginning with the...
- [2013-11-05 16:53:09] <Parva> ...thrown rock, and repaying them at /least/ in kind, if not worse
- [2013-11-05 16:56:13] <SNAFK> So, it all comes to Parva, being passive-aggressive? Not even acting towards keeping others safe from the Violet?
- [2013-11-05 16:57:53] <Parva> .............yes. Yes, it's entirely Parva's fault, and not at all bound by Violet being a psycho.
- [2013-11-05 16:58:51] <ARF> Ahem
- [2013-11-05 16:59:08] <SNAFK> I am not putting the blame here. I am just questioning Parva's motivation
- [2013-11-05 16:59:58] <Parva> yes, arf?
- [2013-11-05 17:00:12] <ARF> I'm sensing some player hostility here
- [2013-11-05 17:00:22] <SNAFK> I have some things I don't get and try to fill them through getting some answers. From my point of view - Parva, as the `mom`, should be more concerned about evil psycho being around.
- [2013-11-05 17:00:41] <ARF> So I'm going to say this. Snafk you still need to work at integrating into the party
- [2013-11-05 17:00:53] <Parva> and what am I going to do--kick Violet out? I don't want you to not play, and not play your character
- [2013-11-05 17:01:45] <SNAFK> ARF: I agree. This is one of the things I try to do here - to make edges smoother or add some lubrication for integration.
- [2013-11-05 17:02:00] <ARF> There's no point looking at other people's characters. You can only work on your own
- [2013-11-05 17:02:20] <ARF> I would take what the players have said to heart and think about it
- [2013-11-05 17:02:29] <ARF> If you think they're wrong that's ok.
- [2013-11-05 17:02:53] <ARF> But you still have to work with them if we want this to be a fun campaign
- [2013-11-05 17:03:27] <SNAFK> Parva: Uh. I would be rather... fine with this development. Not because I would like to leave, but because I find such things to be natural
- [2013-11-05 17:04:50] <SNAFK> ARF: Can't I question players? Or this is inherently hostile thing to do?
- [2013-11-05 17:06:03] <ARF> It kind of is when you call their characters passive-aggressive
