[19:05] Took a few steps to the north of the field. He'd take a rather novice fomorion stance, really more of a mimicry than anything truthful to what the style was.

His dull-practice blade held close to his form. Ready to block at a moments notice, or lash out in a heavy swing.

His emerald hues looked over at the flaming woman. He'd take a breath, his focus turning inwards towards his soul. Reaching for the power he'd been born with.

He was an Oscuri, that had to mean something. Right?

[19:09] Arlei cracked her neck and reached into her longcoat to withdraw a rather basic looking katana. She'd always preferred the Shengese style of weaponry due to their lighter weight, compared to their Valmasian counterparts; it helped counteract some of the downsides of her Ifrit style.

She drew it from its sheath and tucked the protective housing back into her jacket, bursting into flames that danced around her body. She backed into her Ifrit stance, holding her blade in front of her with her legs parted evenly.

"I'm ready when you are." she muttered, locking all non-combat thoughts to the back of her mind for now; this was a tournament with a 1000 coin prize pool. She had to win, so she could get some alchemy ingredients or a home with that money.

[19:14] Arlei fought ferociously against the young Zanders child, having heard of his family's legacy; even though he was young, she couldn't hold back or he'd press advantage. Their blades clashed violently in the fields, her flames pushing against his vibrant green aura.

Ascalon went down fairly quickly, owing to his young age, but by no means was he a terrible fighter. He got a fair few good hits in on Arlei, denting and chipping her wreck of a chestpiece even further. At this point, it just looked like slag strapped onto her torso.

At the final hit, she flung her foot out and kicked Ascalon in the chest, sending him over backwards. She aimed her blade at his chest and called it.

"Match."

[19:19] The kick was as sudden as it was unexpected. Really who kicked when you had a sword? Well, apparently the fire lady did.

It sent the kid hurdling backwards, rolling across the dirt for a second. Really by the time he'd stopped spinning the woman had already declared victory.

His emerald hues glared up at them for a second. Before faltering, casting his gaze to the side.

Not the prodigal son of a hero of Dawn. Idly he wondered if perhaps Alexa had a better go at her tenor as a warrior than he was having.
