  1. ================ THE NEW VEGAS EXPERIENCE ================
  2. ================ MOD CHEAT-SHEET ================
  3.
  4.
  5. This document will explain, in some detail, ALMOST every mod within The New Vegas Experience and Man vs Mojave mod packs.
  6. For the sake of brevity and to save me tremendous amounts of effort, I've omitted the graphical mods and mod patches.
  7. Many of the graphical enhancing mods are self-explanatory, and those that are less so can be easily found on the Nexus.
  8. As for mod patches, they simply ensure compatability between conflicting mods. There is no reason to detail them.
  9.
  10. Starting from the top of the load order...
  11.
  12.
  13. == CORE MODS: Utilities ==
  14. These mods expand upon the engine's capabilities.
  15.
  16. 1) NVAC - New Vegas Anti Crash
  17. • "An NVSE plugin that implements structured exception handling and sanity checking to reduce frequency of game crashes"... So, whatever that means.
  18.
  19. 2) NVSR - New Vegas Stutter Remover
  20. • An NVSE plugin that improves the game's overall performance and stability through many different methods, none of which I fully understand.
  21.
  22. 3) OneTweak
  23. • You guessed it: An NVSE plugin! Allows use of Borderless Windowed mode, fixes the double cursor bug, and allows for dynamic priority.
  24.
  25. 4) JIP LN
  26. • Adds over 800 new scripting functions to NVSE. This plugin is required for dozens of mods within the mod pack.
  27.
  28. 5) The Mod Configuration Menu
  29. • Allows for in-game configuration of certain mods, such as the FoV Slider mod.
  30.
  31.
  32. == CORE MODS: Game Fixes ==
  33. These mods fix the games many (many, many, many) broken features and bugs.
  34.
  35. 1) Optimized Vanilla Textures
  36. • More efficiently compressed textures for better performance and loading times with no quality drop. NOTE: Every texture of every mod, without exception, is compressed and optimized as well.
  37.
  38. 2) YUP - Yukichigai Unofficial Patch
  39. • Fixes almost every bug in New Vegas that can be fixed without the need of scripting. That comes next.
  40.
  41. 3) Unofficial Patch NVSE
  42. • Fills in the gaps left by YUP by fixing bugs that require NVSE's scripting functions to correct.
  43.
  44. 4) Tutorial Killer
  45. • Disables all tutorial pop-up screens during the beginning of the game.
  46.
  47. 5) Faster Pipboy Faster
  48. • I've nearly fallen asleep while bringing up my PipBoy. Okay, maybe that's an exaggeration. Regardless, this mod fixes the issue.
  49.
  50. 6) FasterVats
  51. • Removes the anti-climactic and overly dramatic pauses in VATS. Every sequence has a max time of 1.5 seconds now.
  52.
  53. 7) PipBoys to the People
  54. • I consider this a fix, because it's a fix for lore consistency. Basically, if someone should have a PipBoy, they actually have one now.
  55.
  56. 8) Blur Killer
  57. • Removes horrible blurring effects, such as when getting shot. Helps with motion sickness.
  58.
  59. 9) Shake Killer
  60. • Similarly, this removes much of the overly-done screen shake. Also helps with motion sickness.
  61.
  62. 10) Performance of the Gods
  63. • Removes hundreds - if not thousands - of clutter and garbage objects. You'll never notice the difference, except for the FPS boost!
  64.
  65. 11) Barton Thorn Acts Normally
  66. • Makes Barton Thorn act normally. I know, that's vague, but it's possibly a spoiler.
  67.
  68.
  69. == GAMEPLAY: Content ==
  70. These mods add something to the game in some way.
  71.
  72. 1) ATTT - Armed to the Teeth
  73. • Allows you to have more than one weapon visible on your character, using your quick-slots. Slot 1 and Slot 3 are two-handed holters, Slot 4 is a one-handed holster.
  74.
  75. 2) Weapon Mods Expanded (+ DLC)
  76. • Adds several dozen new weapon modifications into the game, all lore friendly and balanced. 90% of weapons, including melee now have three mods.
  77.
  78. 3) Uncut Wasteland (plus NPCs)
  79. • Restores dozens of small locations, with NPCs, that were cut from the game post-launch due to poor console performance. We ain't runin' no toaster oven.
  80.
  81.
  82. == GAMEPLAY: Tweaks ==
  83. These mods change existing mechanics and features in some way.
  84.
  85. 1) Continue After Game Ending
  86. • Allows you to continue playing the game after its ending. While I think it's better to end it there, you shouldn't be deprived of the choice.
  87.
  88. 2) Simple DLC Delay
  89. • Delays the DLC notifications until you reach certain criteria. (e.g. Happy Trails Caravan ad is limited to the Southern Pass area, and Lonesome Road requires all other DLCs to be completed first)
  90.
  91. 3) EVE - Essential Visual Enhancements
  92. • An expansive mod that visually and audibly overhauls the energy weapons. Contrary to the title, this mod slightly modifies some weapon mechanics.
  93.
  94. 4) Light-Step ED-E
  95. • Gives ED-E the Light-Step perk, as to not set off landmines. I mean, he's a flying eyebot. Why would he?
  96.
  97. 5) SmoothLight
  98. • Makes the PipBoy light much smoother, and a bit brighter.
  99.
  100. 6) Mojave Arsenal
  101. • Adds ammo variants, ammo components, and weapon mods into the loot tables. Also fixes ammo naming conventions and improves crafting recipes for ammo.
  102.
  103. 7) Lonesome Road True Faction Allegiance
  104. • Without spoiling anything, this mod changes the way your faction allegiance is handled in the Lonesome Road DLC. Instead of going off Fame, it goes off the quests you've done for each faction.
  105.
  106. 8) DLC Weapon Integration
  107. • Adds the dozens of DLC weapons into the loot tables. No more DLC-Exclusive firearms, hooray .45 ACPs!
  108.
  109. 9) Courier's Stash Integraiton
  110. • No more walking-arsenal straight out of Doc's house. This removes your starting packages and adds every item to the leveled list as improved variants of the original items.
  111.
  112. 10) Combat Enhancer
  113. • Improves the combat AI for enemies in every way possible through modifying game values.
  114.
  115. 11) Enhanced NPC Awareness
  116. • Further enhances the combat AI, but this time through scripting. This mod and the previous work wonders when paired together.
  117.
  118.
  119. == MISC: Audio ==
  120. These mods improves the sound quality of the game in several ways.
  121.
  122. 1) The Ghoul, The Bad, The Ugly
  123. • One of my personal favorites. Replaces the VATs zoom in and activation sounds with the classic whistle sound from The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.
  124.
  125. 2) Automatic Weapons Fix
  126. • Fixes (but not completely!) weapons that skip over some gunshot sounds due to firing too fast.
  127.
  128. 3) Alternate Power Armor Footstep Sounds
  129. • Adds the Fallout 4 footstep sounds for Power Armor when wearing it.
  130.
  131. 4) Death Music Replacer
  132. • Replaces the - in my opinion - annoying death music with one of the Fallout death messages. https://youtu.be/Upbu3K1cwnI?t=36
  133.
  134. 5) The Auditory Experience
  135. • My own mod, containing the best of several sound mods. Replaces all ballistic weapons and most energy weapons firing sounds.
  136.
  137. 6) Distance Gunfire Fix
  138. • This one's a bit complicated. Essentially, there is a better transition between close range and long range sounds. Also modified to fix quiet gunshots from NPCs.
  139.
  140. 7) ED-E Be Quiet
  141. • Removes the HORRIBLY ANNOYING movement and Tesla Cannon idle sounds from ED-E.
  142.
  143. 8) Ride of the ValkED-E
  144. • Replaces ED-E's battle theme with Ride of the Vaklyries.
  145.
  146.
  147. == EXTRA: Man vs Mojave Content ==
  148. These mods are excluive to the Man vs Mojave version. They overhaul the game to focus on hardcore survival and realism.
  149.
  150. 1) JSawyer Ultimate Edition
  151. • Changes more things than I can count. In a nutshell, it brings the game closer to the lead director's original vision. Not so extensive changelog here: https://fallout.gamepedia.com/JSawyer
  152.
  153. 2) Caesar's New Regime - Legion Overhaul
  154. • Fleshes out Caesar's Legion, adding new content and remaking what we already have. See the Nexus page for more info.
  155.
  156. 3) BLEED NV
  157. • Overhauls the damage aspects of combat in several ways, primarily boosting damage output universally, and equalizing damage output from the player and the NPCs.
  158.
  159. 4) NoFastTravel NV
  160. • As the name implies, disables fast travel.
  161.
  162. 5) Increased Weapon Jamming
  163. • Weapons now jam while firing, not just after reloading.
  164.
  165. 6) Realistic Repair
  166. • With the above mod, keeping weapons pristine is a must. This mod allows you to use scrap and other items to repair weapons, but only if it would make sense.
  167.
  168. 7) Cripple Effects
  169. • Makes the crippled limb, torso, and head effects much more debilitating. See the Nexus page for more info.
  170.
  171. 8) No Doctor Bag in Combat
  172. • As the name implies, this mod disables the use of Doctor Bags in combat. Additionally, using a Doctor Bag will now tire your character in hardcore mode.
  173.
  174. 9) Sprint Mod FNV
  175. • Adds a sprinting feature. A high agility allows you to sprint faster, while a high endurance allows you to sprint longer.
  176.
  177.
  178. == End of List ==
  179.
  180.
  181. That's it! Enjoy your New Vegas Experience!
