But Lancelot showed no compassion. Instead he pressed his opponent so hard that the knight realized that he was defeated by the sword. But he did not think he would lose in hand-to-hand combat because he was one of the strongest knights on earth. He threw his shield and then his sword down to the ground and ran to seize Lancelot's arms. When Lancelot saw him approach, he did the same thing; the men grabbed each other by the arms and turned to face each other. Lancelot, who was very strong, raised the knight more than a full foot above the ground and then hurled him down so violently that the knight fainted in agony, for his heart had nearly burst in his chest.
