  1. In Jenstruck, Jen UO is a starship commander with a reputation as a daredevil who embarks on his toughest mission yet: escorting Jen UO, a famously demanding diplomat, to negotiate a high-stakes treaty between warring alien nations. But our couple's clashing personalities and instant chemistry spark a battle of their own!

  3. Jen and Jen meet amidst sparks...
  4. (Character selections are NOT highlighted in bold within the printed book.)
  5.
  6. ... The diamond-shaped shuttle floated in the bay doors, and moved down toward the deck platform before cutting its boosters and landing noiselessly. The craft’s door tilted upward, followed by Kevlar stairs that descended to the deck and the dark brown-haired female diplomat emerged.
  7. Seldom shocked, Jen felt his jaw drop.
  8. “Oh, no,” First Officer Leon muttered under his breath.
  9. “Small galaxy, eh?” Jen responded. After a short pause, the two men strode toward the diplomat.
  10. She reached the final step and stopped abruptly. The surprised expression on her lovely face would have been amusing if Jen didn’t suspect it mirrored his own dismay.
  11. Jen took a deep breath. “You must be Ms. UO,” he said smoothly.
  12. “You’re Commander UO?”
  13. “You remember.”
  14. “You’re in charge of this vessel?”
  15. Leon grimaced at Jen. “Hell of a coincidence.”
  16. “No kidding.”
  17. “I don’t think this will work, Commander,” Jen said, the fire in her blue eyes making it clear she was mentally replaying the events from when they'd met at the casino on Enceladus.
  18. He frowned. “Listen, I know neither of us is thrilled with this arrangement, but we both have our orders.”
  19. “I can’t believe EISA would let you command a starship.”
  20. “You don’t even know me.”
  21. “I do—you’re a cocky ladies’ man who gambles excessively and likes to fight.” She glared with disapproval.
  22. Leon winced while Jen plodded on. “I probably deserve that, but what you don’t know is that I’m very good at my job. I’ll get you to Minerva Seven and back safely. Isn’t that what matters most?”
  23. She folded her arms across her chest and scrunched her lips to one side. “Just keep your distance. Our relationship is purely professional...”

  29. Aliens on the planet Minerva Seven...
  30.
  31. ...The air was as sweet as lavender and Jen inhaled deeply, enjoying the scent. Sunshine streamed down just enough to warm the planet's surface. Three moons were visible even in daylight, and gigantic fern-like plants rustled with a murmur, their leaves dancing majestically in the light breeze.
  32. Jen scurried ahead of him and pulled out her handheld device. “Get behind me,” Jen said, his sharp tone brooking no disagreement.
  33. She slowed her gait, pushing a few errant strands of dark brown hair behind her ear. “The Aaton delegation is supposed to arrive at noon. Remember that I'm in charge of this negotiation, not you.”
  34. “Yeah, well, my orders are to protect you, and I can't if you go running around like a headless Elatian Bird before I've had a chance to explore—”
  35. Their conversation was interrupted by an approaching Dorak woman. She was striking, with flowing black hair, dark eyes, and ivory skin covered in colorful tattoos. Draped in animal hide, her body was sleek and toned like a warrior, and her stature tall.
  36. The commander's black eyes narrowed. He knew the Dorak were dangerous fighters, and wasn't nearly as convinced as Jen was that they truly wanted peace. So he casually rested his left hand on his blaster while offering an appropriate greeting. “Jo-ho,” he said, hoping to imitate their dialect. His right hand balled into a fist as he swung it toward the left side of his chest, bowing.
  37. Her teeth, pointed into fangs, gritted at him in a kind of smile. “Jo-ho.”
  38. Jen began speaking in the language with precision. Although Jen didn’t speak Dorak, he could understand some of the grunting sounds. He pulled out his translator to decode their conversation and mentally kicked himself for being slow when the women suddenly laughed, their gazes darting knowingly to him before returning to each other...

  45. Riah and Leon to the rescue...
  46.
  47. The communications officer looked up. “Sir, I have a commercial Earth vessel asking to speak with you.”
  48. Leon raised his eyebrows. “On screen.”
  49. A small, white vessel appeared with the word “Spirit” printed across its hull. Leon had seen ships like this before—they were typically chartered by wealthy humans for space excursions. “Accept the hail,” Leon told the man at communications.
  50. Suddenly a woman appeared on screen. Without waiting for protocol, she began to speak.
  51. “My name is Riah. I know it’s not EISA policy, but I want to help.”
  52. “Ma’am,” Leon said, his voice revealing his exhaustion, “we’re on important business here.”
  53. “I’m a friend of Jen... Diplomat UO—”
  54. He nodded. “Everything is under control.”
  55. She stared him down through the view screen. “I’m a reporter. I might have helpful information.”
  56. Leon felt panic spread to every nerve in his body as he tried to keep his emotions in check. The last thing EISA could afford was this problem making it to the press, splashed across screens everywhere. “Help with what?” he bluffed.
  57. “Help with the fact Ms. UO and your commander haven’t returned. Don’t bother denying it. This is all off the record, Lieutenant. I just thought maybe my connections might be of help...”

  63. Passion in the Alpha Sector...
  64.
  65. ...Jen and Jen held hands as they walked back to her cabin, fingers mingling playfully. They reached her door and she rewarded Jen with a beaming smile.
  66. “Join me for a nightcap?” she asked.
  67. “You don’t have any booze in there.”
  68. “Then perhaps you’d like to see my ancient Earth etchings?” Jen teased in a sultry voice.
  69. Leaning into her, Jen kissed her delicate lips, reveling in their satiny smoothness. The kiss deepened, and he was intoxicated as her passion drew his tongue against hers. When Jen finally pulled back, savoring the moment, Jen murmured, “I take it that’s a yes?”
  70. “Affirmative. Absolutely. Ten-four. Yes…”
  71. Jen smiled and quickly punched in the door’s security code. It opened with a swoosh, and the instant Jen felt the slight breeze of the door closing behind him he reached for her hand and spun her back to him. Wrapping his arms around her waist, he pressed his hips onto hers, hungering for her, voraciously tasting the sweetness of her warm lips. He eased her toward the bed with their arms entangled, hands grasping at each other frantically. The couple fell onto the bed with legs and lips entwined. Jen gently ran her fingers through his hair, then began exploring every part of his body as if feeling a human form for the first time. Her breathing was ragged and Jen could barely contain his need for her. He rolled on top of her and remained motionless with his face hovering just above hers. Jen looked up expectantly into his black eyes…
