- Lilith Ch. 1, for /u/:
- (not everything is a literal translation; there's some parts i felt i had to re-phrase in order to make it work in english. 'cause, you know, stupid korean nuances)
- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
- INTRO
- >Here I go!
- >Dang
- >Oops.
- >Nice one, Seolhwa~!!
- /s
- >Hey, why don't you stop for today and head inside?
- >Don't you have student teaching tomorrow?
- >Serve it one more time
- >...
- >You push yourself like that, you'll collapse, no?
- >Don't overdo it.
- >...but I've waited for so long.
- >I'm itching all over for this
- >[Yoon Seol-hwa]
- >[Soonbaek Girls' High School Student Teacher]
- Soon could mean pure/virginal, baek is the color white. so yeah, lol. some korean-from-korea could tell you more.
- >You know I can't hold back.

- CLASSROOM
- >"If you love someone
- >>*love*
- >Remember always the possibility you might have to kill for it"
- >>*love*
- >"That day, above the calm trees, those flying
- >>*love*
- >were not only birds."
- >>*love*
- >[Cheon Jae-hee]
- >[Soonbaek Girl's High, Korean Language Teacher]
- >>*love*
- >"On that day, no one heard the sounds of moaning
- >>*love*
- >And though everyone was sick
- >No one was in pain"
- >>*love*
- >>Source: Lee Seongbok's “That Day,” from “When Will The Rolling Stone Wake Up.”
- some poem published in 1980. it's a 'fancy' poem so my translation isn't very good. In the poem itself, I think the first bit is about love and jealousy, the 'bird's flying' is about how everything passes, and the last bit was meant philosophically. obviously, it could be read a little differently in the context of the manhwa

- AFTER CLASS
- >Oh! Jaehee-ssaem!
- (more slang-y way of saying 'teacher')
- >Kim-seonsaengnim, hi.
- >You know that teachers and student teachers are coming today?
- >Ah, it's already around that time.
- >>*chitchat*
- >I hear there's three of them this year. One is middle school gym, so the other two are high school English and gym?
- >The gym teacher will be on maternity leave very soon, so it looks like the student teacher'll have a lot to do.
- >>*chitchat*
- >Is that so? Yeah, I'll bet they'll be very busy.
- >Well! It's Cheon-seonsaeng and Kim-seonsaeng.
- >Looks like classes ended late.
- >Oh!
- >Principal, hello.
- >This is our new gym student teacher Yoon Seolhwa, from our student teaching program.
- >...!!!
- >And as a graduate of our school, Cheon-seonsaeng really knows her stuff!
- >?!?!
- >Oh my, is that so? That'll be great~!
- >Long time no see, Seolhwa-ya. How've you been all this time? Everything going well?
- >Yep, of course!
- >And you've been taking care of yourself too?
- >Y-yeah, you know...
- >Haha, so you two are close!
- >By the way, the teachers are all getting together today for a celebration,
- >You all know, yes?
- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
- RESTAURANT
- >Hey, Yeong-a...
- >Is it possible that instead of smoking you come inside with me?
- >...? To do what?
- >[Seon Woo-yeong]
- >[Soonbaek Girl's High, School Nurse]
- it's possible that it's 'health teacher' instead
- >Go inside and start eating without me.
- >That's not it
- >It's just that Seolhwa...
- >{That's why I'm saying~...}
- >...?
- >...You...
- >That's right!
- >I could... I'm gonna go to the bathroom!
- >{What are you even right about?}
- >...Weird
- >{How in the world can that Seolhwa even look at me like that...! Does she have any idea how this affects 'that thing'?}
- >Ahh...
- >Once Yeong is done smoking, if we go inside together...
- >Is that S-seolhwa?! When did you get here??
- >{You startled me, you know!}
- >...
- >Eunni,
- >We're seeing each other for the first time in 4 years, you know.
- >So why,
- >Why are avoiding me like this?
- >Why are you startled like this?
- >...Seolhwa-ya–
- >Eunni,
- >Do you hate me?
- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
- OUTSIDE
- >...
- >I'm sure I've seen you before...
- >You look familiar.
- >Did I see you in a club...?
- >[Joo Hye-rim]
- >[Seonbaek Girl's Middle and High School Foundation, Chairwoman of the Board]
- >Jaehee is where...?
- >Rude much, bitch?
- >You won't even greet me first?
- first part is some kind of slang but hell if i know, i'm just a filthy gyopo. maybe she's calling her nuts or something. i can't tell what level of rudeness/vulgarity/playfullness it's supposed to be
- >This again?
- >How about you answer my question, nurse?
- >...bathroom
- >Goodness,
- >What are you doing here?
- >Hyerim...!!!
- not sure about 주. could mean 'master' or be some other honorific, but i think Seolhwa is the one talking...
- >H-hyerim-a
- >Can't you see we're talking right now?
- >Well, I was talking about Jaehee.
- >*She* isn't a baby
- >Seo-
- >Seolhwa's just like this because we've known each other for a while
- >Stop it and let's just go.
- >Huh?
- >Pfff
- >Bwahahahaha
- >What are we gonna do,
- >It looks like Jaehee wanted to talk with the baby.
- >{Ohmygod… really?}
- >{kekeke}
- >Eunni!
- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
- BACK AT THE TABLE
- >Ah,
- >Chairwoman, you've arrived!
- >Please, don't stand on my accord and let me interrupt your dinner.
- >I've just come by for a moment to greet you
- >With all the work I have right now, it's all I have time for. No need to see me out.
- >Goodness, so you won't be able to join us for dinner…
- >Are you going too, Cheon-seonsang?
- >Ah, yes. Something's come up... the chairwoman's offered to drop me off on the way.
- >Oh dear, is it something important?
- >...Yes, it's
- >Very important.
- >I'm sorry!
- >*...Were those two always close like that?*
- >*Kim-seonsaeng, you didn't know? Those two, you know they came out of the same school. They're schoolmates!*
- >*No, I mean, why are there teachers we don't know, at all?*
- >*Because the foundation went bankrupt, after this chairwoman graduated, the school was about to close down. The chairwoman's father took over, and afterward a lot of teachers changed. That's why.*
- not sure about this translation
- >So part-time...?
- or this one
- >*As for why she's totally different, they say she's from a wealthy Chinese family, do you see how that could make sense?*
- >*That's what I'm saying. Didn't you hear, her father is Chinese and her mother is Korean?*
- >Hmmm
- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
- "BOUDOIR"
- >[panting and breathing sounds]
- >>*shiver* <3
- >Hyerim-a, I...
- >can't hold it...mmmphf!
- >Who told you could talk like that?
- >Now, lick.
