  1. Things you will need:
  2. 1.) How to use a command prompt
  3. 2.) Python - 3+ https://www.python.org/
  4. 3.) gzinject - http://www.github.com/krimtonz/gzinject
  5. 4.) The Actual Randomizer Code - https://github.com/AmazingAmpharos/OoT-Randomizer
  6. 5.) A vanilla Japanese OOT Wad (It has been determined that an English Wad is buggy, at the time of this edit gzinject has not been patched to fix these bugs)
  7. 6.) A vanilla ENG 1.0 ROM
  8.
  9. Step 1: Create a Randomizer ROM!
  10. 1.) Open the extracted Randomizer Code directory
  11. 2.) Double Click "Gui.py"
  12. 3.) Set up the parameters you'd like to use for your randomizer, refer to the Randomizer Readme to understand the various options
  13. Make sure you do not have "do not create patched rom" selected, I'd recommend creating a spoiler log, but don't spoil it for yourself!
  14. 4.) Make sure Compress output rom is selected
  15. 5.) Base ROM is your vanilla ENG 1.0 ROM
  16. 6.) Click "Generate Patched ROM"
  17.
  18. The following steps are optional. Step 3, will make the rom work on most emulators. Step 4 will make things work on Wii VC (Step 3 is required for step 4)
  19.
  20. Step 2:
  21. 1.) Open a Command prompt
  22. 2.) Change to the extracted gzinject directory
  23. cd C:\path\to\gzinject
  24. 3.) Generate a common wad key
  25. gzinject -a genkey
  26. 4.) Enter 45e and Press enter (as long as you don't leave this directory you will not need to specify the generated key)
  27. 5.) Inject ROM into wad
  28. gzinject --cleanup -a inject -w C:\path\to\vanilla\oot\wad.wad -i NRDE -t "OOT Randomizer" --rom C:\path\to\randomizer\code\Oot_options_seed-comp.z64 --disable-controller-remappings
  29. Note: Make sure you use the xxxx-comp.z64 rom NOT the rom without the -comp, the -comp will be 32MB and the other will be 64, you
  30. want the 32MB file.
  31. -i NRDE Is the channel ID to use, this needs to be unique to Wii being installed to otherwise it will overwrite the existing
  32. channel with this ID. NRDE should not be used by any existing game. You can change this however I would recommend using NXXE,
  33. A Previous version of this paste suggested used NACR which ended up crashing the game when the reset button was hit.
  34. -t "OOT Randomizer" is the name that will show up in the system menu. It can be any text up to 20 characters.
