  1. Like a statue, Penelope sits on her bed, legs drawn up to her chest. Her stare is dead, lifeless, fixed on the wall in front of her. She looks like she hasn't slept in days, and her fingers curl around the body of a housekey.
  2.
  3. What was she doing with that?
  4.
  5. Nothing, apparently. The knock rouses her from her stasis... and she's almost too excited. Her eyes are wide, but she doesn't move from her position.
  6.
  7. Her voice, cracked, calls out:
  8.
  9. "Come in."
  10.
  11. Was it Gareth? Was he coming for his key?
  12. (Penelope)
  13.
  14. Adrian made his way inside of the building, a concerned look taking the place of a normally inquisitive, sassy and sophisticated demeanor. The scholar walked over to the front of her bed, taking a seat on the stool and crossing his arms on top of the end of her bedframe. He smiled, releasing an exasperated sigh.
  15.
  16. "Focalar above, where have you been Penelope? I haven't seen you in days." He was relieved she wasn't.. dead or anything. When people went missing in Agartha for days on end, it usually wasn't a good sign. He was glad to see that Penelope was in one piece.
  17.
  18. Though, something seemed off. The scholar's expression altered once again. He furrowed his brows slightly. Something was wrong.
  19.
  20. "What happened?"
  21. (Adrian Montbell)
  22.
  23. Penelope looks like she hasn't slept in days. Her hair is disheveled, and her clothes barely cling on to her frame. Her neck is red and bruised from hickeys, and she tightly grips her knees to her chest.
  24.
  25. When she sees that it's Adrian walking through her door, it's like a slap in the face. Her expression, which was filled with desperate hope, shatters, falls. Her shoulders stiffen and she almost refuses to meet his stare.
  26.
  27. Her nails dig into her legs. They're already red and irritated, littered in scratch marks. So are her arms.
  28.
  29. The air hangs thick and heavy, a telltale sign of an occultist whose emotions have gone far too awry. It's radiating from a single source, and Adrian can almost feel it when he comes close.
  30.
  31. She doesn't speak. She doesn't answer his questions. Her poor state speaks for itself.
  32.
  33. She hasn't slept, bathed, or eaten for days. It barely looks like she's moved from this bed.
  34. (Penelope)
  35.
  36. Adrian stands up.
  37.
  38. For whatever reason, the occult energies that encircled here didn't seem to phase him. His mind, his soul-- they were strong. The man was not easily influenced.
  39.
  40. There was a certain anger building inside of the man. A storm began to churn inside of his stomach as he noticed the various markings on her body. Scratch marks, bruises. It was hard to tell what happened. Based off the empirical evidence that was offered, he assumed there was a fight. Not with a creature. It was with a human, or something roughly the same size.
  41.
  42. She looked so.. vulnerable, so tired. So weak.
  43.
  44. "Answer me, Penelope. What happened to you?"
  45. (Adrian Montbell)
  46.
  47. The scratch marks? Penelope had done it to herself. The only mark on her body that was not self inflicted was the hickey on her neck, red and rosy. She had done it all to herself, in reality.
  48.
  49. She deserved this. This was her punishment.
  50.
  51. She rubs her leg gingerly, nails scraping against a trail of red... Adrian might notice the ring missing from her finger.
  52.
  53. "Nothing happened to me, Adrian. I did this to myself."
  54.
  55. Her voice is hoarse, worn and scratchy. From what?
  56. (Penelope)
  57.
  58. Tekai Kyroi has entered Penelope's Residence.
  59.
  60. Adrian looked her dead in the eyes.
  61.
  62. His gaze was imposing. It wasn't something that one could lie to-- not in full confidence. He was perceptive, well-aware. A slight movement of the brows. A tightening of the irises, a creasing of the cheeks. It didn't matter if she didn't outright say it. If she was lying, he'd know.
  63.
  64. "Lying to me is a fruitless effort." He stated.
  65.
  66. He knew it, and she knew it.
  67.
  68. "Tell me what happened, Penelope."
  69. (Adrian Montbell)
  70.
  71.
  72. Penelope says, "I told him."
  73.
  74. Adrian Montbell asks, "Gareth?"
  75.
  76. Penelope says, "Yes."
  77.
  78. Adrian Montbell asks, "What did he do?"
  79.
  80. Penelope says, "It doesn't matter."
  81.
  82. Adrian Montbell says, "Yes, Penelope. It does."
  83.
  84. Adrian Montbell asks, "Those marks on your neck. Was that him?"
  85.
  86. Penelope says, "Yes."
  87.
  88. Adrian Montbell asks, "What else did he do?"
  89.
  90. Penelope says, "I told him. And he. Patted my head like it was okay."
  91.
  92. Penelope says, "And then."
  93.
  94. Penelope says, "It doesn't matter. It's not going to change anything if I tell you."
  95.
  96. Penelope says, "It's not going to fix what I did."
  97.
  98. Penelope says, "I deserved it."
  99.
  100. Adrian Montbell says, "I'm not going to ask you again, Penelope."
  101.
  102. Adrian Montbell says, "Tell me what he did."
  103.
  104. Penelope asks, "What are you going to do if I don't answer?"
  105.
  106. Penelope says, "Go ahead and do it to me. Whatever."
  107.
  108. Adrian Montbell says, "Nothing. I'll keep pestering, over and over. Every single day. Every single hour, every single minute, every single second."
  109.
  110. Penelope asks, "You want to know?"
  111.
  112. Penelope asks, "My shame? My punishment?"
  113.
  114. Adrian Montbell says, "Yes, Penelope."
  115.
  116. Adrian Montbell says, "Then I'm going to tell you why you didn't deserve it-- whatever it was."
  117.
  118. Penelope says, "He had sex with me. He had sex with me and ejaculated inside of me three times, and then he told me to leave my key under the door mat and never come back."
  119.
  120. Penelope says, "He took the ring off of my finger and walked out of the house."
  121.
  122. Adrian Montbell asks, "And were you okay with it? Him doing that to you?"
  123.
  124. Penelope says, "I let him. I deserved it."
  125.
  126. Penelope says, "Like a child accepting a beating from a parent."
  127. A flip switched.
  128.
  129. The scholar slowly stood up. The storm that was churning was ready to break free. It took everything in his being, every muscle in his body to keep him from releasing it. The scholar closed his eyes for a moment. The Montbells' had something that set them apart from normal humans. It wasn't any sort of special genetic anomaly. It wasn't some sort of gift from long gone ancestors.
  130.
  131. It was a bane. A curse.
  132.
  133. An affliction that amplified every single emotion. Passion, love, joy. Anger, sadness, grief. It went both ways. He looked back towards Penelope, furrowing his brows and flaring his teeth. He almost looked angry. He closed his eyes again and shook his head. He was on the verge of exploding. The storm was tearing away at him. Provoking him-- alluring him.
  134.
  135. "No, Penelope. No one deserves that."
  136.
  137. He made his way out of the door as crackles of electricity began to build up around him. Tempests slowly gathered, accentuating the high-voltage arcs that encircled him. He walked out of the door.
  138.
  139. Ready to let the storm loose.
  140. (Adrian Montbell)
  141.
  142. Thunder clouds gathered above the town square. They followed the scholar as he made his way towards the center. Furious tempests followed. Shaking lamp posts in their foundations, blowing small animals off of the ground and into the air. Pillars of lightning struck the ground with each passing step, charring the cobblestone around him. Adrian's brows were furrowed. His forehead creased, his teeth flaring.
  143.
  144. He donned an expression the likes of which no one had ever seen before. One that shouldn't ever see the light of day. He was a scholar. An academic. A learned man. Violence? That was for soldiers. For warriors, for brutes. It wasn't something he retorted to.
  145.
  146. Ever.
  147.
  148. But someone had made the mistake of making him angry.
  149.
  150. It seemed like a miniature hurricane was encircling the Champion. As if Focalar himself had been there, right by his side-- guiding his movements. Enticing him, urging him to give in to the storm that was building up around him.
  151.
  152. "You."
  153.
  154. He said, pointing at Gareth.
  155. (Adrian Montbell)
  156.
  157. Gareth leans back into his seat.
  158.
  159. "Me."
  160. (Gareth Atherton)
  161.
  162.
  163. Acha Idared exclaims, "Wilhelm!"
  164.
  165. Wilhelm Bishop says, "Nope."
  166.
  167. Adrian Montbell says, "You raped her."
  168.
  169. Adrian Montbell says, "I'm going to castrate you."
  170.
  171. Acha Idared says, "--"
  172.
  173. Wilhelm Bishop says, "Wow. That's uh..."
  174.
  175. Wilhelm Bishop says, "... that's certainly something to come back to."
  176.
  177. Acha Idared says, "I need to talk to you, but one second."
  178.
  179. Acha Idared asks, "What is happening?"
  180.
  181. Ausar Kesandri says, "Uh..."
  182. Ausar blinks at Adrian. Then looks over to Gareth.
  183. (Ausar Kesandri)
  184.
  185. Bartholomew watches the exchange happening in the square intently, things seemed to be heating up over there.
  186. (Bartholomew Litigan)
  187.
  188.
  189. Wilhelm Bishop says, "I'm going to awkwardly and quietly dip."
  190. Eyes shifted to the Drakan with majestic red wings. However, before Osidius could say anything, someone with violent winds summoned from their use of magic caught his attention. His hair blew in the direction of the random bursts of the force along with the fabric of his clothing.
  191.
  192. The light to why this person's magic was so violent would probably come to, but for now... The Drakan was kept in the dark.
  193. (Osidius Vindict)
  194.
  195. Bartholomew Litigan whispers something.
  196.
  197. Leo whispers something.
  198.
  199.
  200. Izel says, "Woh."
  201.
  202. Izel says, "I'm alive."
  203.
  204. Acha Idared says, "Izel! I think you need to handle this."
  205.
  206. Izel asks, "Eh?"
  207. Leo drops Iron x6.
  208.
  209.
  210. Izel says, "Fill me in."
  211. Bartholomew Litigan picks up Iron x6.
  212.
  213. The scholar's face continued to twitch every so slightly, indicative of the anger than ran through his veins. He gritted his teeth and took a step forwards. The thunder above only grew fiercer.
  214.
  215. "That.. is not how you handle things. That is not how you resolve problems. That is not how you treat a woman you claimed to love. You do not rape her. You do not sprout your seed inside of her in a fit of rage." He flashes forwards in a jolt of lightning, gripping the soldier by the collar and pressing his own forehead against his.
  216.
  217. "You call yourself a man? You are a child. A sad excuse for a Valmasian. No, I do not fight. I am not a soldier. But I will do everything within my power to ensure you suffer slowly-- and die a long, painful death."
  218. (Adrian Montbell)
  219.
  220.
  221. Izel says, "Oh."
  222.
  223. Izel says, "No."
  224.
  225. Izel says, "No, No."
  226.
  227. Margaret Eberthardt says, "Hang on."
  228.
  229. Izel says, "Adrian."
  230.
  231. Margaret Eberthardt says, "Hang th' fuuuuck on."
  232.
  233. Izel says, "You pushed it a bit too far this time."
  234.
  235. Izel says, "Your position isn't saving you."
  236.
  237. Acha Idared says, "... I need to go talk to Penelope."
  238.
  239. Gareth is gripped and forced back. Without any sort of warning, he hocks up a ball of phlegm, then casts it in her face.
  240.
  241. "She was quick to try and fuck me to try and make things better. You think you can fuck my wife behind my back, then act like everything is fine and dandy? I'd sooner wipe my ass on a porcupine, then let you disrespect me like that. She chose to sleep with you, then so be it, but now she suffers the consequences for it. You wanted her, right?
  242.
  243. Then have her. I don't give a shit what you think, you adulterous fuckhead."
  244. (Gareth Atherton)
  245.
  246.
  247. Gareth Atherton says, "Now get the fuck out of my face, and take her with you."
  248.
  249. Izel says, "No, no."
  250.
  251. Margaret Eberthardt says, "Someone fucked someones wife."
  252.
  253. Ausar Kesandri says, "Oh boy."
  254. Once again, the male's eyes shifted. The topic wasn't normal to hear, but only to the ordinary. Because of this, focus resettled onto his priority. He stepped closer to his target of focus and examined their reddened wings. It was very interesting to see such a color compared to those who had a much, much darker color.
  255. (Osidius Vindict)
  256.
  257. Bartholomew shifts uncomfortably on the bench. Talk about airing dirty laundry, it seemed a strange place to engage in a confrontation about things so deeply personal. But, he supposed, that their choice of locale isn't really any of his business.
  258. (Bartholomew Litigan)
  259.
  260. "You raped her."
  261.
  262. The violent winds that encircled him caught the spit, casting it aside like a fly.
  263.
  264. He clasps his hand around his neck and thrashes him into the back of the wall, the force of a hurricane guiding his movements. The flip had been switched. Adrian wasn't happy.
  265.
  266. "You're going to talk to me about honor? About respect? You are a hypocrite. A coward. A fool. What happened between me and her is besides the point. It is trivial-- it pales in comparison to the grand scheme of things. Call me what you want. It matters little."
  267.
  268. "Out of all the ways you could've chosen to respond to her-- you raped her. You forced yourself on her. You could have come to me. You could have tried to kill me-- beat me, I don't care. But instead, you raped your own wife. You made on effort to comfort her. You made no effort to resolve the situation like an adult should."
  269.
  270. "You raped her."
  271. (Adrian Montbell)
  272.
  273. Ausar was paying close attention to Adrian's claim of rape against Gareth. Rather than get involved with the situation, he thought it best to stay out of this one for now. He had no part in it and he would have it stay that way.
  274.
  275. The Drakanite then turned to face the man in front of him. A brow raised as Ausar noticed the man was examining his wings. They were very dark. The bone-structure of the wing were black while the wing itself was a very dark red-orange. Almost magma-like even. Other oddities would be that Ausar's horns were blackened and his tail was a similar color to his wings.
  276.
  277. "Uh... Can I help you?"
  278. (Ausar Kesandri)
  279.
  280. Gareth Atherton asks, "Raped her?"
  281.
  282. Gareth Atherton asks, "RAPED HER?"
  283.
  284. Margaret Eberthardt asks, "..Izel, ye got this?"
  285.
  286. Izel says, "Obviously."
  287.
  288.
  289. Osidius Vindict says, "Yes, I was just told you'd be the one to talk to concerning blacksmithing. I'm in need of armor and a sword and am willing to provide the crowns that I have for them."
  290. Aesperus Kesandri whispers something.
  291.
  292. Drew nods
  293. (Drew Idd)
  294.
  295.
  296. Ausar Kesandri says, "Oh? You've come to the right person."
  297. Aesperus Kesandri whispers something.
  298.
  299. Drew nods
  300. (Drew Idd)
  301.
  302. "She chose it! There was no rape, you fucking idiot! That doesn't even make sense!"
  303.
  304. When the hurricane pushes at him, the man's skin begins to harden into an earthy exterior, and he bares through the ride, returning his grip to Adrian's neck. It doesn't relinquish, and now he looks the man in the eye with a look that could kill.
  305.
  306. "I don't care how she feels. She wanted to hurt me, right? She wanted you, right? Then just because what happened after we slept with one another doesn't matter. She hurt me? Then she'll get hurt as well, then. I won't fight you for a woman that chose to slept with you on her own volition. So have her. Keep her. Clasp her to her breast, and know you, Adrian Montbell, have managed to take a man's wife. Let it seep in your heart and be proud of it.
  307.
  308. But get the fuck out of my face. I don't care how you or that whore feels."
  309. (Gareth Atherton)
  310.
  311. Drew Idd whispers something.
  312.
  313. Aesperus Kesandri whispers something.
  314.
  315.
  316. Ausar Kesandri says, "I uh... I'd wait until the situation at hand is resolved though."
  317.
  318. Drew Idd says, "Also, Aesperus, Lavender. Lavender Aesperus."
  319.
  320. Drew Idd says, "Assuming you haven't met before."
  321.
  322. Amaranth says, "I go by Naomi round these parts, partner."
  323.
  324. Drew Idd says, "Which you probably have."
  325.
  326. Aesperus Kesandri says, "Nope."
  327. No, one final no.
  328.
  329. Finally dropping his staff between both Gareth and Adrian it seemed the intent of Adrian was only to agitate Izel at every opportunity. There was nothing but a sigh as it pushed past his lips, the tug of nature from beneath his boots curling upwards now as whatever anger had sparked between this duo seemed something built upon lies. There was no retaliation quite yet, instead what followed was a heavy glare locked in the gaze of Izel.
  330.
  331. "I will not have you speaking down to my soldiers. I will not have a man who hides behind his rank from combat thinking he can call them a coward." The words of this Redeemer seemed to roll off the tongue of Izel with his gaze shifting towards Gareth. Lips parting all as his mind seemed still unable to make up his mind on this matter, there was little belief in anything this Montbell spoke as he had witnessed almost nothing that this Gehennan had.
  332.
  333. "Gareth... Is no rapist. I can attest for that much, you will apologize. You're in my domain now, Adrian. You will not be making baseless claims against my soldiers."
  334.
  335. Strict as ever.
  336. (Izel)
  337.
  338.
  339. Amaranth says, "Lavender to friends."
  340.
  341. Aesperus Kesandri says, "Hello, Naomi. I'm Aesperus."
  342. Amaranth extends a hand out for a handshake. It doesn't have an electric buzzer on it, I promise.
  343. (Amaranth)
  344.
  345. Aesperus would extend to shake the hand, hers didn't have one either.
  346. (Aesperus Kesandri)
  347.
  348. Amaranth shakes the hand with no electric buzzer. It's a good thing they can trust each other.
  349. (Amaranth)
  350.
  351. Drew would just.... nod absently, pat their shaking hands and wander off. Like he was shell shocked or sommat.
  352. (Drew Idd)
  353.
  354.
  355. Amaranth says, "Drew, are you-"
  356.
  357. Amaranth says, "Okay..."
  358.
  359. Aesperus Kesandri says, "He is not."
  360.
  361. Aesperus Kesandri says, "He just needs time to think."
  362.
  363. Amaranth says, "Right."
  364.
  365. Aesperus Kesandri asks, "So... Weren't you the girl in the bar with Ifiada?"
  366. Amaranth nods sharply, before bowing slightly. "That'd be me!"
  367. (Amaranth)
  368.
  369.
  370. Aesperus Kesandri exclaims, "Ahh, you two were cute!"
  371. Aesperus Kesandri whispers something.
  372.
  373. The Drakan's attention's grasped by the ensuing conflict thanks to the mentioning of his kin. A brief look's made, but he shrugged his shoulders. What went on nearby didn't seem to force a change in the person's body posture, or his facial expression. Instead, all remained the same for the male.
  374.
  375. "Nonsense, it isn't much of an issue."
  376. (Osidius Vindict)
  377.
  378. Margaret eventually threw herself up and off of the bench, just as she was getting comfortable. This shit had to happen and a fight was about to break right next to her. Fixing up the coat of her uniform, the older redhead extended out her straightened out hand by Izel's staff as he used it to keep some distance between the two.
  379.
  380. She gazed over to Adrian first, squinting her eyes, then back over to Gareth. This was difficult on who exactly to blame or who was the troublemaker, but she heard enough to actually ask a question as a layer of steel began to work its way up from her neck, not fully covering her face quite yet.
  381.
  382. "Adrian. Ye shagged Gareth's wife? That's th' question that's botherin' me right now."
  383. (Margaret Eberthardt)
  384.
  385. Amaranth whispers something.
  386.
  387.
  388. Izel says, "Margaret."
  389.
  390. Izel says, "Please."
  391.
  392. Izel says, "Take this seriously."
  393.
  394. Margaret Eberthardt says, "Oh, I am. I /hate/ these kind of disputes."
  395.
  396. Margaret Eberthardt asks, "Th' fact yer turnin' yer weapons on eachother OVER THIS?"
  397.
  398. Gareth Atherton says, "I didn't want it to come to this."
  399.
  400. Izel says, "To be fair."
  401.
  402. Gareth Atherton says, "I'm not fighting over a woman. I never will."
  403. Aesperus Kesandri whispers something.
  404.
  405.
  406. Izel says, "I approve of it."
  407. Aesperus Kesandri whispers something.
  408.
  409.
  410. Ausar Kesandri says, "If you're going to draw blood on one another... at LEAST take it to the arena."
  411.
  412. Izel says, "Adrian had sexual relations with his wife."
  413.
  414. Izel says, "He is allowed to smack him around."
  415. Amaranth whispers something.
  416.
  417.
  418. Margaret Eberthardt says, "We have a common enemy to fight, not eachother."
  419.
  420. Izel says, "Or! If he's feeling reaaaaally generous."
  421. Aesperus Kesandri whispers something.
  422.
  423.
  424. Izel says, "He could let me smack Adrian around..."

  520. Adrian gripped his hand before it could reach his neck, forcefully bringing down his fingers onto his own. There was no change in his expression. No room for anything but anger. He kept his gaze locked onto Gareth’s own, not allowing him to indulge in whatever fabricated sense of power he believed he held over the Champion.
  521.
  522. Thunder boomed once again, the sound of the scholar’s voice following soon after.
  523.
  524. “She hurt you? So you’re going to hurt her, that’s it? That’s how you deal with your problems? Your wife cheats on you, so you’re of the mind that justifies rape? You think because she sought me, you’re allowed to use her like a toy? To take out your aggressions on her, to force her to submit to you?”
  525.
  526. “Tell me, did you get what you wanted? Was your pride restored when you raped your own wife? I’m curious.” The man said, his tongue laced with an unseen venom.
  527.
  528. The world around him seemed trivial. The only thing that hecould see was the man before him. A craven of a man. A warrior without honor. A man that did not deserve to live. A man that tarnished the name of the Bulwark.
  529.
  530. Izel, Margaret-- both of them seemed to fade out of view.
  531.
  532. (Adrian Montbell)
