- Dash groaned, and rolled over. This was the part of the pregnancy she always hated. Pinkie was already up and gone, and Dash awkwardly slid out of bed and stumbled downstairs. Her body was shaky and she felt heavy. She pouted at herself in the mirror. Then she smiled at her reflection, thinking about the first time she would hold her new foals. She groaned again and sighed.
- "Darnit, why do you kids have to be so cute." Muttering to herself and getting something to eat, rolling her eyes at herself. When did she become such a...
- "Mum! Gueth what I learned at thcool today!" She blinked, one of her eldest was apparently back, sitting across from her. She was fast, she inherited her sudden appearance ability from Pinkie... though she had her mother's wings.
- "Why are you talking like..." Dash sighed, "I know you like Twist and think she's cool, but can you cut that out now?"
- "Cutie Markth" was the response. Dash had kind of hoped that her kids would eventually start listening to her, but they hadn't. Mostly anyway.
- She listened to her eldest talk for a while, and ate her breakfast. Everything in the house was... sugary. She had tried to convince Pinkie once or twice to get some oats or something instead, but it hadn't worked out. She didn't mind, but it seemed healthier not to always be eating muffins. Sometimes she watched Pinkie eat and wondered how she managed.
- It was later in the morning when Pinkie returned, waking Dash from Dash time... which involved primarily lying on their bed and not being awake for as long as possible. It always got awkward around this part though... she had to keep rolling over and she couldn't really lie on her front like she wanted to. Plus a bed was never quite as soft as a cloud.
- The sound of their kids running around downstairs was a cheerful reminder of their big family. Just the other day she had been teaching her winged kids, well, the ones who inherited her need for speed, some of her poses... and they'd watched her coach her team for a few hours. She had a whole folder of trick ideas... techniques... it almost felt a little unlike her to be noting things down instead of just showing them off. But that was the cost of her big family, and she didn't regret it. Anyway it was kind of nice having it on paper. Sometimes she'd lay up at night with Pinkie asleep next to her, scribbling notes with a pencil in her mouth.
- "Good morning sleepyhead!" Pinkie started... she nudged her gently and wasn't quite as loud as she could be... she'd gotten better at waking her up without making her jump. That and Pinkie seemed to always have a slightly more cautious edge at this stage of things, like she was keeping an eye out for Dash. Well, she probably was, and Dash didn't blame her. She felt pretty shaky some mornings... Pinkie had caught her a couple of times almost tipping over when she put her hoof in the wrong spot. She never had quite gotten used to walking instead of flying. Or maybe it was just the shift in weight.
- "Happy anniversary!" and Pinkie nuzzled noses... and Dash's heart sank. "Hehe... forgety forgetterson!"
- Pinkie smiled at her. Dash blushed, "Pinkie... I'm sorry I..."
- "Don't be silly!" Pinkie kissed her deeply, and stared into her eyes... Dash went to speak and Pinkie pressed her hoof against her lips, "I know my poor super sweet Dash is really tired out right now. It's ok."
- Dash still felt back... looking down. "Come on Dash, chin up." Nuzzling her chin and lifting Dash's head up with her nose... She was grinning so much Dash couldn't help smiling back. "Besides, you give me plenty of love eeevery single super duper special day!"
- "Pinkie..." Dash quivered... staring back lovingly, this happened every year... and Pinkie was always extra sweet and forgiving about it... no doubt she was already planning the usual party. Every year Dash was adamant she'd remember this time... and every time Pinkie just got so excited and happy even though she'd forgotten. She didn't even doubt it, she knew Pinkie had already forgiven her. She could see it in her eyes.
- Dash kissed Pinkie, and gave her back the piece of fudge instead of stealing it and eating it herself, for today anyway. Pinkie 'aww'd. Pinkie's lips always tasted of candy... and Dash wondered if hers did now too.
- Then Pinkie kissed Dash's tummy and smiled at her. "Plus this is a pretty super special present anyway." Pinkie bounced off, and Dash blushed, smiling and looking in their mirror at herself.
- "Yeah... it is." Smiling contentedly for a good minute before remembering to give herself the 'no, no more kids, this is the last time...' speech. This time she would really stick to that. The special necklace from Celestia was still on the shelf... along with the little foal statue that looked like one of their kids... and the photo of her from the day of her first big win... Twilight had taken it and caught the exact moment Pinkie had kissed her for the first time, purely by accident. Well, the photo, the kiss was deliberate.
- Downstairs she could hear their babysitter trying to get the kids to behave... she giggled... She thought about herself and Pinkie a little... Pinkie really hadn't changed a bit. She was as bouncy and silly and sweet as ever, but Dash felt like she'd gone through being an athlete, and now she was a relatively soppy mother. She didn't mind.
- Later Dash woke up again, and went downstairs... she hadn't spent time with her kids all day, apart from one of her eldest, and she was missing them. Even if they had Pinkie's boisterous nature... and she was tired... she loved every one of them. Plus she had the cutest kids ever. She made sure everybody knew that.
- The rest of the afternoon passed slowly... Pinkie baked, some of the more interested foals helped... Dash cuddled her kids and told them stories about when she was younger... about dragons, and races... inevitably Pinkie started the traditional song she'd been writing for years now... there were three of their kids who joined in, and the rest apparently felt the same way Dash had about a lot of Pinkie's songs... though she appreciated this one more these days... those three foals even had their own sections now where they'd jump in.
- Eventually everyone settled down and ate... the house was always full of giggling and smiling faces... Dash sighed happily, and Pinkie rested against her and smiled. "I've got a surprise for you after this" she sung, and then giggled... Dash had been wondering what was up...
- Pinkie would normally have been leading her up to a big anniversary party dinner, but tonight they ate early and then everyone seemed to be getting more and more excited. Then her friends started showing up... Dash blushed... something big was going on.
- "Pinkie, you're so..." She started.
- "In love with you?" Pinkie batted her eyelids and stared back, grinning, knowing full well she wasn't going to say that. Pinkie always found it so easy to say these things, Dash felt a little jealous... she stuck her tongue out and Pinkie kissed it... she always did that too... Dash just blushed and smiled.
- Pinkie brought out a blindfold, and told everyone to get in their places... Dash didn't know what to think. Just that she was excited. Pinkie was up to something big... and she lead Dash somewhere, giggling and telling her to be careful, helping to be sure she didn't tumble over on anything. Dash felt nervous being blindfolded but frankly she was just overwhelmed by emotion... what was Pinkie up to...?
- Dash could hear a lot of voices giggling and shushing each other... and when Pinkie removed the blindfold her heart jumped into her throat. "Oh Pinkie..."
- All her friends and family were there, seated... that was great... but what really made her cry was what was in the front. She was ushered down the carpet to wait by the altar... it was just like the night... she took her place, and they started playing the music... their song... and Pinkie strolled down the carpet, grinning, and took her place next to her. Pinkie had written new vows and all.
- Later in the evening, when things had gotten quieter and darker... the kids had gone to bed and Pinkie and Dash were dancing slowly, and they smiled and stared at one another... Pinkie giggled and whispered in her ear that Fluttershy and Snails would be babysitting the kids for the weekend... and eventually they said goodbye and thank you to everyone who'd stayed late to the reception... and hurried home.
- When they got home, Pinkie grabbed a lollypop from the counter and looked over her shoulder, grinning and slinking upstairs first like she always did... Dash following.
- Pinkie was sitting on the bed, posing in her usual silly, cute fashion... Dash walked over to the end of the bed and smiled at her.
- "Pinkie..." She started, and Pinkie giggled and interrupted.
- "You don't have to say it silly..."
- "Don't interrupt, I'm doing it..." she giggled and blushed, "Seriously, this is hard..." And she took a deep breath, "You're the sweetest, kindest most forgiving pony ever, and I love you Pinkie Pie..."
- Pinkie kissed her, suddenly at the end of the bed, and they both blushed.
- Dash felt like the luckiest mare in the world.
