  4. [4:42:16 PM] John Her: Zero shame for taking the easy route to success/victory
  5. [4:44:09 PM] Aberrant Artificer: So you said on his character sheet that Harvey had a rather odd upbringing (or lack thereof)
  6. [4:44:14 PM] Aberrant Artificer: can you elaborate a bit on that?
  7. [4:48:50 PM] John Her: He remembers being alone for as long as he can remember
  8. [4:49:07 PM] John Her: Maybe there was someone to take care of him, maybe there wasn't
  9. [4:49:48 PM] John Her: But as soon as he got old enough to remember things, he subsisted on the supplies found in a cave
  10. [4:50:12 PM] John Her: The cave happened to have a few amenities, but then supplies started running out
  11. [4:50:21 PM] John Her: Hence the thefts and animal trapping
  12. [4:51:39 PM] Aberrant Artificer: How does Harvey justify all of those thefts? Does he care that they are hurting other people?
  13. [4:51:52 PM] John Her: No, because they are indirect
  14. [4:52:14 PM] John Her: He picks on commercial trucks
  15. [4:52:24 PM] John Her: And only takes a little bit at a time
  16. [4:52:26 PM] Aberrant Artificer: what do you mean by indirect?
  17. [4:52:53 PM] John Her: It's the shipping companies that are affected, not the people directly
  18. [4:53:16 PM] John Her: If the company takes it out on the employees, that's their problem, not his
  19. [4:53:42 PM] Aberrant Artificer: So he doesn't care that he is likely getting the truck-drivers in trouble?
  20. [4:54:10 PM] John Her: Nope. He keeps it as minimally invasive as possible, and that's the only duty he feels he has
  21. [4:54:38 PM] John Her: Later on, he starts messing with shipping manifests via hacking to reduce the chance of detection/retribution
  22. [4:55:09 PM] John Her: But he does that b/c it helps him not get caught and lets him get exactly what he wants
  23. [4:56:04 PM] John Her: He finds being nice or at least somewhat considerate to be a survival strategy, not part of some higher good
  24. [4:56:33 PM] John Her: e.g. believes in altruism, but only because it's the advantageous strategy
  25. [4:57:31 PM] Aberrant Artificer: Has he ever considered leaving his cave and integrating into society?
  26. [4:58:03 PM] John Her: Not really, b/c orphanages are unreliable and terrible
  27. [4:58:10 PM] John Her: Especially in Alaska
  28. [4:58:33 PM] John Her: Paranoia about the government doesn't translate into trusting one's life to it
  29. [4:59:04 PM] Aberrant Artificer: Is Harvey ever afraid of getting caught? Has he ever gotten caught in the past?
  30. [4:59:46 PM] John Her: Never caught, but is wary/concerned by it
  31. [4:59:56 PM] John Her: Hence the hypothetical legal advice

  33. [5:01:03 PM] Aberrant Artificer: For someone who raised themselves in a cave away from society, Harvey seems surprisingly well educated and street-savvy. How was he able to become that way?

  35. [5:02:15 PM] John Her: But at first, he learns from children's educational TV
  36. [5:03:02 PM] John Her: He has an old "bunny-ears" TV that showed things like Sesame Street
  37. [5:03:11 PM] John Her: Same TV that became his computer monitor
  38. [5:03:34 PM] John Her: That's how he learned to speak/write

  40. [5:03:50 PM] John Her: Getting ahold of more learning material means stealing it, though
  41. [5:04:16 PM] John Her: He would disagree, which is why he trashed his TV and repurposed it to a monitor
  42. [5:04:55 PM] John Her: However, he probably has a bunch of children's TV show memorabilia that he hasn't gotten rid of strictly because it's useful

  49. [5:08:11 PM] Aberrant Artificer: Beyond simply knowing a pretty average amount of things, Harvey is really quite intelligent when it comes to scheming, manipulating, and survival. That requires a lot of active seeking out of information beyond what is commonly available (like what Harvey is doing with Amelia for legal advice). What fuels his drive for acquiring all this knowledge?

  53. [5:09:48 PM] John Her: No real career goals other than drifting through life and making his own way though
  54. [5:11:22 PM] Aberrant Artificer: Does Harvey have much free time? If so, what does he like to do in it?
  55. [5:11:52 PM] John Her: He reads and watches TV on the computer
  56. [5:12:09 PM] John Her: Of course, everything on an old TV monitor is black-and-white
  57. [5:12:39 PM] John Her: Takes care of himself, "shops" for supplies, and builds improvised gadgets
  58. [5:13:10 PM] Aberrant Artificer: What sorts of gadgets?
  59. [5:13:56 PM] John Her: Of the traps and electronics nature
  60. [5:14:18 PM] John Her: Things for hunting and spying on animals...and other things
  61. [5:17:44 PM] Aberrant Artificer: If Harvey could magically change one aspect of himself or his life, what would he change?
  62. [5:17:54 PM] Aberrant Artificer: Anything he wishes were different?
  63. [5:18:43 PM] John Her: He'll tell people he wishes to be physically stronger/faster, but he would really want parents
  64. [5:20:08 PM] Aberrant Artificer: What does Harvey see as his greatest strength/asset?
  65. [5:20:33 PM] John Her: Thinking on the fly
  66. [5:21:28 PM] Aberrant Artificer: Greatest weakness/fault?
