  1. No Limit Texas Holdem
  2.
  3. Hands: You have a total of 7 cards, 2 in your hand, and the 5 on the table. Out of these 7 cards your hand is the best 5 card hand that is possible.
  4. In order worst to best
  5. High Card
  6. Pair
  7. 2 Pair
  8. 3 of a kind
  9. Straight, 5 cards in order
  10. Flush, 5 cards all same suit
  11. Full House, 3 of a kind and a pair
  12. Four of a Kind
  13. Straight flush, straight and a flush
  14. Royal flush, straight and a flush but ace high, best hand possible
  15.
  16. Rules:
  17. There are three makers passed around the dealer (also called the button), small blind, and big blind.
  18. Small blind = minimum bet
  19. Big Blind = 2x Small Blind
  20. Also, a table is in the format SB/BB meaning that the table's buy-in is about 100*BB, ex) .01/.02 table is a 2 dollar buyin.
  21. The dealer gets the button originally and the person next to them, clockwise, gets the small blind then the next player gets the big blind.
  22. If you have either the SB or BB piece this means that before you have seen your cards you must put in either a small blind or a big blind, respectively. These will be passed around in a circle after each round. The player who goes first on the first round of betting is the one who is right after the big blind. After the flop, first round of betting and the 3 cards being shown, the player to the left of the dealer starts off the round of betting, this person is usually the SB.
  23. To stay in a hand of poker you must match the amount of money your opponents have placed into the pot.
  24.
  25. Call = add in enough money to match what everyone else has in the pot
  26.
  27. Check = I don't need to add money to the pot and I don't want to raise. Also, can be indicated by a tap/knock on the table or knee
  28.
  29. Raise = adding more money to the pot than necessary to stay in the game. Announce how much you raise by off of the current amount Ex) someone checks, next says raise 5. So in this situation, I can either fold, call, raise. If I want to put in 10 more than I currently have in the pot I would say raise by 5 since the person before me raised by 5. This is to make it easier to follow how much money is being added to the pot.
  30.
  31. Fold = give up on your current hand and lose any money that you had in the pot
  32.
  33. In most cases, if you can check and think you have a bad hand you should check rather than fold since you won't be putting any more money in the round and may get lucky.
  34.
  35. Pre-Flop
  36. So after you are dealt your cards and the blinds have placed their antes. The player after the big blind gets to decide if they want to call, raise, or fold. This then continues around the circle, clockwise. After bets have stopped which happens when we have gone around the table to the last person who raised, on the first round the big blind is the one who raised but is allowed the opportunity to raise on their first turn. Then the dealer burns three cards, puts them out of play in the same pile are cards from players who folded and then shows three cards, also known as the flop.
  37.
  38. Player once again bet with the new information they have, but now we start with the player left of the button/SB. Once this round ends we burn a card and flip a card this is know as the turn.
  39.
  40. Once again we go around betting, once again with the player left of the button/SB. Once this is over we burn a card and show a card which is know as the river.
  41.
  42. Now that all 5 cards have been shown we go around and bet once more and then the players who are still in the game show their cards. The player with the best 5 cards hand wins. See above for which hands beat which.
  43.
  44. Misc
  45.
  46. In a situation where a player has all-in'ed you need only match the amount that they placed in the pot and not all-in yourself. If you cannot match a bet you can all-in to stay in the game. A player who all-ins cannot win parts of the pot that were added after his all-in and will be given back to the players if the player who all-ined won.
  47.
  48. In a situation where two players have the same hand it is usually decided by the high card, but if the hand is a 5 card hand or the high card is the same then the pot will be split evenly between the two players.
  49.
  50. To buy into a game you will venmo me, justin-mott, and give at 100BB. If you wish to rebuy while playing you can do so by venmoing at least 50BB. After, the games are all over we will see what you have left in your stack and venmo you that amount. This way we don't have to worry about who owes who and you'll just get your winnings immediately.
