  1. morallyAmbitious [mA] started pestering hadalCell [hC]
  2. [3:11 PM] mA: ok
  3. [3:12 PM] mA: so ive been seeing you a lot on RBs streams and thought this would be a nice way to expand my shitty chumlist
  4. [3:17 PM] HC: Is that so?
  5. [3:18 PM] mA: i guess
  6. [3:18 PM] mA: I mean having someone else to talk to would also kind of be ok
  7. [3:19 PM] HC: I strive to be kind of ok.
  8. [3:19 PM] HC: It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance.
  9. [3:20 PM] mA: and i, yours.
  10. [3:21 PM] mA: so, you also got RB in your chumlist? howd you two start talking?
  11. [3:22 PM] HC: I was messaged by her with a link to download one of her performances. It happened quite recently.
  12. [3:23 PM] HC: I would ask you the same question.
  13. [3:23 PM] mA: wait she sings too? fuck.
  14. [3:23 PM] mA: we started talking after i dropped some trivia bombs during her gaming stream
  15. [3:25 PM] HC: Indeed. I am surprised. I would think the majority of these streams would fluctuate in topic.
  16. [3:26 PM] mA: so, did you feel it too?
  17. [3:26 PM] mA: some weird force or some shit, while talking to her that drew her toward you?
  18. [3:27 PM] HC: I have no idea what you could possibly be referring to.
  19. [3:29 PM] mA: i mean
  20. [3:29 PM] mA: ah, fuck it, never mind
  21. [3:29 PM] mA: so, whatd she sing?
  22. [3:31 PM] HC: It was a rendition of a song from a computer game called Portal. I allowed myself to get overexcited during the stream, and so she sent me a direct file.
  23. [3:31 PM] HC: It was nice.
  24. [3:33 PM] mA: i might need to ask her about it, once we talk again
  25. [3:35 PM] HC: I would not recommend it.
  26. [3:35 PM] HC: It is hardly proper to confront someone with information obtained behind their back.
  27. [3:40 PM] mA: i mean were both friends of theirs
  28. [3:41 PM] mA: it should be ok shouldnt it
  29. [3:41 PM] HC: Irregardless.
  30. [3:41 PM] HC: I strongly urge against this course of action.
  31. [3:42 PM] mA: i mean, the stream was public but if you say no then thats...ok, i guess?
  32. [3:43 PM] mA: how come youre so strongly against it
  33. [3:45 PM] HC: It is one thing to enjoy a performer's publicized work. It is another entirely to speak with one the performer has confided in, and to then go to them with questions.
  34. [3:46 PM] HC: I have no objections with you listening to her streams. In fact, I encourage it.
  35. [3:47 PM] HC: I would not, however, appreciate being used as a source of information she did not reveal publicly.
  36. [3:48 PM] mA: i mean
  37. [3:49 PM] mA: i wouldnt mention you as a source of info for any of her streams, since these streams are...most likely public?
  38. [3:50 PM] mA: i just tried to search up her stuff, and found that the stream with the song on had been made...a bit of a while ago, before i met her.
  39. [3:52 PM] mA: the thing is that i havent been able to get to watch her past streams and i was wondering if i could tommorow. it could give me a chance to watch the stream with her singing on it, then i could just say that i watched her previous stream when asking about her singing, if that makes you feel better
  40. [3:53 PM] HC: It does not. I fail to see the benefit of this level of subterfuge, in lieu of simply waiting for her to next perform.
  41. [3:57 PM] mA: i mean, isnt RB already publicly revealing their singing capabilities by singing on stream? plus, these streams are archived on the internet for everyone to see so i dont see the harm in asking RB
  42. [4:01 PM] HC: I disagree.
  43. [4:05 PM] mA: i mean whats the harm in asking, in any case? your concern was that id mention you as a source and i removed that concern by deciding not to mention you.
  44. [4:06 PM] mA: but you...dont seem to be the judge in this circumstance anyway? but i suppose ill take your word for it.
  45. [4:07 PM] mA: if youre going to oppose this strongly its better if i restrained from making this a hassle
  46. [4:08 PM] HC: Indeed.
  47. [4:10 PM] mA: in any case, would a question game interest you? would be a good way to break the ice a bit.
  48. [4:11 PM] mA: we can both take turns asking questions pertaining to the other, the one who fails to answer within a minute loses
  49. [4:11 PM] HC: It depends on the sort of questions involved. Internet safety is paramount.
  50. [5:21 PM] mA: sure, im mostly going to be asking questions about hobbies anyway.
  51. [5:21 PM] mA: why dont you start?
  52. [5:24 PM] HC: I do not know where to begin. It seems prudent for you to provide the first example of your game.
  53. [5:26 PM] mA: fair enough. anything you particularly take interest in? games, books or activities of varying degrees of dubiosity?
  54. [5:28 PM] HC: I tend to appreciate music. I used to cook.
  55. [5:29 PM] HC: Is there any particular reason you chose to contact me today?
  56. [5:30 PM] mA: expanding my chumlist. plus, i had nothing else on the grinder so why not
  57. [5:31 PM] mA: you used to cook? do you feel comfortable with talking about what you cooked?
  58. [5:35 PM] HC: I would cook lots of things. I was infatuated with all manner of baking for quite some time.
  59. [5:37 PM] mA: i tried to cook as well, before. mixed success on that. anything else you would like to ask?
  60. [5:39 PM] HC: Is that so? I would be interested to hear your own tales.
  61. [5:42 PM] mA: long story short? the cake turned out....
  62. [5:42 PM] mA: i would argue....badly?
  63. [5:43 PM] mA: hang on i think i have a picture
  64. [5:43 PM] https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/489604334842150921/524043506579406849/image0.jpg
  65. [5:45 PM] HC: ...
  66. [5:45 PM] HC: Impressive, almost.
  67. [5:45 PM] mA: really, though?
  68. [5:46 PM] HC: It is on the same scale as 'impressive'.
  69. [5:48 PM] mA: well, alright then. what did you think of RBs performance?
  70. [5:50 PM] HC: I enjoyed it greatly.
  71. [5:50 PM] HC: In what way did you come to find her?
  72. [5:51 PM] mA: i saw her stream of "Distrust" a bit ago.
  73. [5:52 PM] mA: I was...a bit surprised about the chirping. Not many streamers have a live bird as a pet.
  74. [5:52 PM] mA: in retrospect i shouldnt have been
  75. [5:57 PM] HC: Indeed.
  76. [6:00 PM] mA: what is it like, where you live? if thats a question i may ask. im not asking for location, mind you
  77. [6:02 PM] HC: It is not.
  78. [6:04 PM] mA: alright then. hmm...oh right, what types of music do you enjoy?
  79. [6:18 PM] HC: I tend towards the soft, the simple, the elegant. If you would hear if from a music box, I like it. Inversely, I am much less fond of music with too much chaos to keep up with it all.
  80. [6:19 PM] mA: i would have to agree on that front, loud music hurts my ears
  81. [6:19 PM] HC: Indeed. Is this genre something you could provide a recommendation of?
  82. [6:22 PM] mA: i mean, orchestral and opera would be well suited for you in the case of your preferences
  83. [8:24 PM] HC: I was thinking more specific musicians.
  84. [8:25 PM] mA: oh...hmm...im at a loss at that juncture, im afraid
  85. [8:28 PM] mA: oh hey, RB is back on
  86. [8:28 PM] HC: I see that.
  87. [8:29 PM] mA: how about we turn this into a group chat?
  88. [8:29 PM] mA: uh, i might need your chumhandle added into my chumlist for that
  89. [8:30 PM] HC: If you must.
  90. [8:30 PM] morallyAmbitious [mA] added you into his chumlist.
  91.
  92.
  93. morallyAmbitious [mA] added Rhythmic Birdsong [RB] into "UNAMED GROUP CHAT"
  94. morallyAmbitious [mA] added hadalCell [hC] into "UNAMED GROUP CHAT"
  95. [8:33 PM] mA: sorry for the, uh, abrupt addition
  96. [8:35 PM] RB: Hey there MA.
  97. [8:35 PM] mA: hey, whats up
  98. [8:36 PM] RB: Just got some cool rocks as a souvenir.
  99. [8:36 PM] mA: geodes or something like that, i guess?
  100. [8:37 PM] RB: A geode and an unpolished Tanzanite sample.
  101. [8:39 PM] mA: thats cool. ive never seen geodes in person.
  102. [8:39 PM] mA: say, whens your next stream gonna be?
  103. [8:39 PM] RB: Well maybe at around 11 tonight. It is a weekend.
  104. [8:41 PM] RB: You're so deprived if you've never seen one. They're beautiful.
  105. [8:42 PM] mA: also, boy, cant wait to stay up for the stream. whatre you gonna do?
  106. [8:43 PM] RB: Gonna do some Lovebirds.
  107. [8:44 PM] HC: Interesting.
  108. [8:45 PM] RB: I fricking love that it uses the most bizarre premise possible to draw you into a complex narrative about post-apocalyptic birds.
  109. [8:47 PM] HC: I am unfamiliar with it.
  110. [8:47 PM] RB: Basically you're a human at a bird highschool dating birds.
  111. [8:47 PM] HC: ... I have questions.
  112. [8:48 PM] RB: Go ask them.
  113. [8:48 PM] HC: In the interest of starting with the obvious: What.
  114. [8:49 PM] RB: It's a game that started as an April Fool's joke, but then took on a life of its own.
  115. [8:50 PM] mA: pretty much
  116. [8:50 PM] mA: its a dating simulater where you date birds.
  117. [8:50 PM] RB: The bird dating is just the tip of the insane iceberg.
  118. [8:50 PM] mA: or humanized birds
  119. [8:50 PM] RB: It's so gloriously ludicrous, but compelling.
  120. [8:51 PM] RB: The humanization is just for fun, it's clear that they are literal sentient birds.
  121. [8:51 PM] mA: ive only seen like
  122. [8:51 PM] mA: one route of that sim
  123. [8:51 PM] mA: and its the one where you die
  124. [8:52 PM] RB: There's two routes where you die, and also you die in the bad ending.
  125. [8:52 PM] mA: that one too
  126. [8:53 PM] mA: wait wait post apocalyptic birds
  127. [8:53 PM] RB: Let's play a game of two truths and a lie.
  128. [8:54 PM] RB: There is one part of the game that's set in the afterlife.
  129. [8:54 PM] mA: ok sure i guess
  130. [8:54 PM] RB: You get to date a transexual peacock who dyes his feathers.
  131. [8:54 PM] RB: And you get to fight in an RPG boss fight at some point.
  132. [8:55 PM] mA: ...ok, whats the third one
  133. [8:55 PM] RB: That's your guess?
  134. [8:56 PM] mA: oh whoops i didnt read that
  135. [8:56 PM] mA: ok uh
  136. [8:56 PM] mA: third ones a lie
  137. [8:57 PM] RB: I'm debating on whether to leave the answer ambiguous. So as to not ruin the WTF factor.
  138. [8:57 PM] mA: i mean, the point of the game is to reveal how WTF it is right?
  139. [8:57 PM] mA: then again we are watching the stream
  140. [8:58 PM] RB: Fair. The lie is No. 2.
  141. [8:58 PM] RB: Thought there is a Golden Pheasant mad scientist.
  142. [8:59 PM] mA: what
  143. [8:59 PM] mA: wait
  144. [8:59 PM] mA: this is a DATING SIMULATOR
  145. [8:59 PM] mA: what???
  146. [9:00 PM] RB: This is why I love this game.
  147. [9:00 PM] RB: I revels in the fun and craziness of it all.
  148. [9:02 PM] HC: I feel like asking for an explanation was a poor decision.
  149. [9:03 PM] mA: oh, HC!
  150. [9:03 PM] mA: also, i suppose we should have watched the stream ourselves before asking anything
  151. [9:04 PM] RB: I also have some covers planned for it Hadral.
  152. [9:04 PM] RB: I wrote the lyrics myself.
  153. [9:04 PM] HC: I look forward to hearing them.
  154. [9:04 PM] mA: wait, you sing?
  155. [9:05 PM] RB: You missed the Portal 2 stream I guess.
  156. [9:05 PM] RB: Yeah, I'm a sucker for musical numbers.
  157. [9:06 PM] mA: oh, cool! which song did you sing?
  158. [9:08 PM] RB: Want You Gone, naturally.
  159. [9:08 PM] mA: best choice.
  160. [9:08 PM] mA: id be ok to do some co-op with you at some point
  161. [9:09 PM] RB: That would be cool!
  162. [9:10 PM] RB: I'm curious to which bird you will ship with our plucky protagonist, Hadral.
  163. [9:11 PM] HC: It is Hadal.
  164. [9:12 PM] RB: So sorry!
  165. [9:12 PM] HC: I suppose we will have to see.
  166. [9:14 PM] RB: Anyway, how's life for you two?
  167. [9:15 PM] mA: i was just kinda bored and decided to talk to HC, and then you came online.
  168. [9:16 PM] HC: It is what it is.
  169. [9:17 PM] RB: You're a pretty private person, Hadal. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
  170. [9:17 PM] HC: I am. Internet anonymity is important.
  171. [9:18 PM] HC: I could argue that the two of you are insufficiently private.
  172. [9:18 PM] RB: That's true I suppose. I have a bad habit of just venting stuff online.
  173. [9:19 PM] RB: And it took me far to long to fix my channel name.
  174. [9:19 PM] HC: Is it done?
  175. [9:20 PM] RB: Yep. Fixed it just before MA joined.
  176. [9:20 PM] RB: I feel awkward calling him MA, because that feels kinda stiff.
  177. [9:20 PM] HC: I see.
  178. [9:20 PM] mA: maybe ill tell you my real name sometime
  179. [9:20 PM] RB: But no part of his name really works in general.
  180. [9:20 PM] RB: You don't have to.
  181. [9:21 PM] mA: or just...change my username eventually.
  182. [9:21 PM] HC: I rest my case.
  183. [9:21 PM] RB: LOL, we proved you right.
  184. [9:22 PM] HC: I am always right.
  185. [9:22 PM] mA: well
  186. [9:22 PM] RB: HC, queen of rightness.
  187. [9:23 PM] mA: the username change is mostly for naming and cosmetic purposes
  188. [9:23 PM] mA: but the stuff about being insufficiently anonymous, i feel as if, considering that were sort of friends, that stuff is ok
  189. [9:24 PM] RB: Yeah it's about gradually building trust and stuff.
  190. [9:25 PM] mA: trust is important. theres not much of it going around.
  191. [9:25 PM] RB: Though I admit I can be too trusting sometimes. Maybe a bit naive.
  192. [9:27 PM] HC: It is important to remain vigilant. I do not recommend extending that trust.
  193. [9:28 PM] RB: Maybe given more time, but not RN.
  194. [9:28 PM] mA: i guess
  195. [9:29 PM] mA: but i feel like RBs a good person to confide in, i dunno
  196. [9:29 PM] mA: i just...feel something, i guess?
  197. [9:30 PM] HC: I continue to have no idea what you could be referring to.
  198. [9:31 PM] RB: I think he means there's like something about my character or something. IDK stuff is vague.
  199. [9:32 PM] mA: well i...cant describe it
  200. [9:32 PM] RB: I have the same kinda sense that I should be worried about you.
  201. [9:33 PM] RB: Actually, not, that's not vagueness.
  202. [9:33 PM] RB: You give me reason to worry
  203. [9:33 PM] mA: wait, me?
  204. [9:33 PM] mA: i mean
  205. [9:34 PM] mA: im not THAT bad am i
  206. [9:35 PM] RB: I don't think you're bad, but some of the stuff you say, worries me.
  207. [9:35 PM] RB: I probably should share this stuff in this chat, actually.
  208. [9:36 PM] HC: ...
  209. [9:36 PM] RB: You OK, Hadal?
  210. [9:36 PM] HC: I am.
  211. [9:37 PM] HC: I am also surrounded by superstition I do not understand.
  212. [9:37 PM] mA: wait wait wait what
  213. [9:38 PM] RB: It's not really superstition. There's no black cats or ladders involved.
  214. [9:39 PM] RB: But you can get a sense of something, even if there's no rational reason for it
  215. [9:39 PM] mA: well...i cant really stop you from sharing stuff can i
  216. [9:41 PM] HC: It is talk of feelings and hunches. I do not understand what either of you appear to sense.
  217. [9:41 PM] HC: It frustrates me.
  218. [9:42 PM] RB: Like emotions, or more specific than that?
  219. [9:44 PM] HC: Innate desires to confide in or distrust one another.
  220. [9:45 PM] HC: In this world there are many reasons to trust or distrust another. In no way are people obligated to invent their own.
  221. [9:46 PM] mA: i mean how can you really judge the span of decisions available
  222. [9:46 PM] mA: is there seriously an archive for that?
  223. [9:48 PM] RB: I mean intuition in actually is just the brain making connections and logic that its not consciously aware of.
  224. [9:49 PM] RB: It's about the brain picking up signals around us.
  225. [9:49 PM] HC: Irregardless.
  226. [9:50 PM] RB: Not a word, LOL.
  227. [9:50 PM] RB: Unless you mean, regarding something.
  228. [9:50 PM] mA: nope, it is
  229. [9:50 PM] mA: irregardless is a word
  230. [9:50 PM] RB: ir·re·gard·less
  231. [9:50 PM] RB: /ˌirəˈɡärdləs/Submit
  232. [9:50 PM] RB: adjective & adverbNON-STANDARD
  233. [9:50 PM] RB: regardless.
  234. [9:51 PM] RB: You're technically right.
  235. [9:52 PM] HC: In any case.
  236. [9:53 PM] HC: I would appreciate a withdrawal from the realm of hunches and guesses. Intuitions can be mistaken. In most cases, they are.
  237. [9:55 PM] mA: instinct should play a role in any decision, i feel. but opinions are opinions.
  238. [9:55 PM] RB: As I said, I have logical reasons to be concerned anyway.
  239. [9:55 PM] HC: It would be wise, then, to disappear.
  240. [9:56 PM] RB: Dissapear?
  241. [9:57 PM] mA: that seems like a...pretty over-the-top response to simple suspicion, isnt it
  242. [9:58 PM] HC: If you intend to acknowledge such an instinct, then the natural response should be to act on it.
  243. [9:59 PM] RB: Fly to wherever he lives and tell him to knock it off?
  244. [10:00 PM] HC: In almost every measure, the exact opposite of that.
  245. [10:01 PM] RB: You realized I was worried for him, right?
  246. [10:02 PM] mA: i feel like thats a large leap in logic
  247. [10:02 PM] mA: also, thank you
  248. [10:04 PM] mA: if you have a problem, running away barely helps anything, to be honest
  249. [10:04 PM] RB: I think she meant breaking off contact with you.
  250. [10:05 PM] mA: i was speaking in context of running away at the subtlest whiff of danger
  251. [10:06 PM] RB: Ah! Gotcha
  252. [10:06 PM] HC: Incorrect, objectively.
  253. [10:07 PM] HC: It is about time I took my leave.
  254. [10:07 PM] RB: It's getting late for me too.
  255. [10:07 PM] RB: Night guys.
  256. [10:08 PM] mA: yeah, bye guys, i guess
