The electric eel (Electrophorus electricus) is an electric fish, and the only species that have this extraordinary ability in that grouping. Amazingly, they are capable of generating powerful electric shocks of up to 860 volts, which they use for hunting, self-defense, and communicating with fellow eels.

Commonly, they use their electricity as a defense mechanism to stun or keep predators away. In fact, the electricity that it can discharge is powerful enough to knock a horse off its feet. So, would you dare to touch this specie if you get near it? Probably not.

Unfortunately, this baby alligator had to learn about this lesson the hard way. This man captured this footage of an electric eel that seems to be trapped beside an alligator. As the alligator drew closer, the eel tried to release itself from the trap by moving furiously.

But one swift move was all it took and the baby gator had the eel between its sharp teeth. The gator hoped that the eel will be a sumptuous meal for the day, but he was wrong unfortunately as the eel stunned the poor gator and it convulsed in the water!
