- As the two walked through the crowded streets of Nostvale, they eventually found themselves entering a wealthy residential district not too far from the keep. It was without a doubt the wealthiest place in the city. All sorts of extravagant flowers and fauna littered the outsides of the manors. Private guards and household levies were stationed all over the place, making for an impressive neighborhood watch.
- The Kien manor was the largest. Both of his parents held a place in the triumvirate of generals known as the Marshals. Naturally, he was a privileged child. The house was ornately decorated on the outside, several statues present along the main walkway. Two guards opened the doors for them, as young Ennis ran through the familiar corridors.
- Trot, trot..
- Selene’s study was one of the most impressive features of the house. A grand library, suited for a true scholar. There were several rows of bookcases and tables, and even some antiques encased in glass displays. Nonchalantly taking a seat, he plopped the book he had been carrying with him onto the table.
- "Right! Let’s figure out what we want to find." A servant quickly arrived, bringing some tea and small slabs of meat cut into little circles.

- Once inside the little humble abode, Kamilla did well to take in her surroundings. From expensives vases to embroidered tapestry, she couldn't help but to estimate how much it all must've cost inside her head. Now wasn't the time to be doing math, though!
- She shakes her head, clearing the thoughts away as they traversed into the library. "Geez, have your folks read all of these books?" She couldn't imagine that they had. Were the really that old? Did they read books within a day? Kamilla could only wonder. It took her a month to finish one novel-- or was it a magazine? To her, they were all the same. Reading was boring...
- Whatever the case, she finds her seat next to him and peers at the book he brought along. "Right, well, you want an axe. That means you want durable metal that'll cleave through anything and not get all dented up. I need something that'll... hm." She scratches her chin thoughtfully.
- "Something that'll enchant my magic. The bladed part's for swinging, but the polearm itself should give my circuits a bit of a boost. If you get what I mean, that is..."
- (Kamilla)
- "No, no! I want gauntlets, like Bast. I thought your um.. scythe was a weird looking axe which is why I mentioned it earlier." He says, pointing a finger at her. It was obvious the child thought it was important to do with any misconceptions. Opening the book, he starts by looking through the listed metals.
- "And umm, I dunno’. I know that my mom has read a lot of these books, but my dad isn’t much of a scholar. Mom is the brains and he’s the brawn, y’know?" He says. Even if he didn’t want an axe, her point still stood. He needed to find a durable metal that was capable of dealing damage while also withstanding heavy blows.
- "Hmm.. I’m an energy magi, so I wanna’ find something that will go good with my magic. Oh, oh! Tyrium sounds cool. But even better, Cold Iron! It says here.. " He runs his fingers along the text. "Cold Iron is a result of energy magic being infused into Tyrium. Sounds perfect!" He looks around, grabbing a pen and making a little star next next to the two metals.
- After finding himself a suitable first ingredient, Ennis moved on to find something for the Ookami. She wanted something that would enchant her ice magic.. hmm. After a good deal of reading, he places a finger onto the paper.
- "Frostspark Sapphire! It says here that it’s gem can amplify ice magi abilities n’ stuff. It grows near Frostvale, or Dragon’s Peak. Hmm, it also says it can ‘conjure ice from contextual mana application’. I dunno’ what that means, but it sounds pretty cool."
- (Ennis Kien)
- Kamilla shakes her head. She must've been more tired than she thought if she was mixing things up that badly. "Right, right, my bad. Still, my point stands. You'll need something strong, durable, and... if it's gauntlets..." Her words trail off, but sure enough, Ennis is already on the case. The moment he spots something, Kamilla leans in to peer at the page he's on.
- "Cold Iron, huh? Sounds useful for me, too." She snorts, though the name was the only thing that implied such a thing. It wouldn't at all suit her needs, but soon enough, Ennis does find something fitting for herself.
- Once again, she leans in to peer at the page. "Frostspark Sapphire, huh? That sounds interesting. And lo and behold, it's found in the world's coldest place. That'll be fun. Maybe we can take Cali with us. He might be able to speak dragon and get us a free pass wherever the sapphire grows." Kamilla muses, hoping that such an adventure would be just as easy as she thought it might. Hopefully their dragon friend could bail them out of doing any actual work...
- "Speaking of, I'll talk to that grump once I'm done being mad at him. I'll tell him about the materials and see if he fancies finding anything. Though, first and foremost, where do you even find Cold Iron? The Peak?"
- (Kamilla)
- "Well, it says Cold Iron is what happens after you enchant Tyrium with energy magic. So we’d have to find out where to find Tyrium." He flips back to the page, refreshing his memory. His eyes widen a bit. They didn’t give much information on where to find it, which is probably why the material was so rare.
- "Well.. all its says about Tyrium is that it is ‘created by creatures who hide from Kraus’s gaze, and for those that mine it speak of odd dreams, horrific nightmares, or grandiose hallucinations.’ O-Oh man.. this is super mysterious!" He says, nervously laughing.
- "Anyways, you can’t construct an entire polearm out of a sapphire gem. You’ll probably have to like uh.. imbue the gems into the upper or lower handle or something? Ya’ still need a base metal for the actual body of your weapon, right?" He says, tilting his head to the side a little. Given Frostspark Sapphire’s rarity, it would be extremely hard to find enough of the substance to create an entire frame out of it.
- "Got anythin’ in mind?" He asks, pushing the book over to her.
- (Ennis Kien)
- Kamilla nods her head along with his words, the idea of Tyrium making her think that maybe, just maybe, they were going to have to wait a bit before actually being able to get their hands on some. Even the book seemed to be all too vague about it's location...
- "All I can suggest is maybe finding out information about previous weapons made out of Tyrium. Figure out who owned them, what their name was, and perhaps see if they've written any autobiographies. Considering it's rarity, I'm sure their autobiography would include how the weapon was obtained and made..." But it was a stretch, truth be told. Even if they learned all of that information, there was no telling if there was any Tyrium left. If all else fails, they were going to be forced to scour the land for Saekanis knows how long.
- "As for my weapon... let's see. We could probably grind the sapphire into dust and mix it with whatever we decide to melt down to form the shaft, so..." She takes the book, looking it over briefly. Minutes pass and Kamilla's brows soon furrow. She seems to have found a snag.
- "Arcanium would be ideal, but with how rare it is, I feel I may be out of luck." She sighs, pushing the book back to him. "Though I think I could settle for Orichalicum. It's light and fragile, sure, but I need to channel my ice magic through it. It's my best bet until I can get my hands on the real deal..."
- (Kamilla)
- Ennis rubbed the back of his head. Learning about minerals and stuff was a lot to take in, even if he was studying every day. His curriculum was pretty advanced for an eight-year-old, which made sense given who his mother was. Regardless, all the reading gave him a headache.
- "We couldread a bunch of books on dead guys, or I could wait until Bast gets back and ask him about it. His gauntlets are made of a variant of Tyrium, so I’m sure he’d know where to find some." The child yawns, flipping through the pages. He had to find another material to mix into his dream weapon. What else, what else..
- "Hmm.. I could accent my gauntlet in blood copper.. Oh, oh, no! I could make the ends of it into claws, y’know? I’m half-human, so I wanna’ be able to at least add something that will give it a little Ennis ‘oomph’." He smiles, exposing his canine fangs.
- "Blood copper is a little less rare than Tyrium, but still pretty hard to find. It says here that it grows next to copper but can be hard to separate from its sister ore." He looks around, grabbing a piece of paper as he begins to sketch his gauntlet. Meanwhile, he offers his own thoughts to Kamilla. He had read about the materials she mentioned while skimming through the book.
- "Yeah, Arcanium is like mythic-level stuff. We won’t be finding any of that. N’ if your using your scythe to battle, you prolly’ shouldn’t have anything that can break easily, y’know? I think.. mithril would work good if you mixed in that Frostpark Sapphire dust."
- (Ennis Kien
- Kamilla weighed their options and truth be told waiting for Bast seemed like the best option. Reading was fun and all, but she'd honestly have to pass if they could just skip all of that.
- "That quartz stuff might work too," she muses. The stuff would make her scythe empower not only her ice magic, but the rest of her magic as well. Orichalcum would boost those effects, though the metal was fragile. So, in that case...
- "We could use both mithril and orichalcum, really. Melt them down and mix them together. The scythe would still be empowered by my magic and the mithril will help keep it sturdy while the rest enchants it. Then I can just use the Frostspark to make a permanently attached blade or two..." No more would she have to keep her weapon sustained. She could freely swing it without wasting any of her mana! It sounded like a plan to her.
- "Anyways, we can wait for Bast to get back from wherever you said he was. While you wait for him, I'll go pester your father. Wherever the hell he is. Then I'll go hunt down Caligula and tell him we've a job to do. I'm sure he can pick up some scrap along the way himself. He likes stuff, too. But he mostly just likes fighting, so... that's a good thing for us." Less work for them, really.
- (Kamilla)
- Hmm..
- She was certainly getting creative. Ennis figured an alloy would work good as well. The way she explained it was satisfactory, and it seemed to be right up her alley. In fact, mithril mixed with any kind of metal seemed like a good combination. Considering the rarity of Tyrium, perhaps he would go for a Cold Iron and mithril alloy.
- "Sounds good! Now that we’ve got all that squared away, I guess we’re finished with erm.. one portion of our research. I dunno’ about you, but I’m tired of reading! Let’s get outta’ here." Ennis gulps down the tea and takes a few bites of the disc-shaped meat snacks before getting out of his seat.
- With a nod of his head, he gestures for Kamilla to follow.
