  1. "ugh...so damn hot, why is it so hot?"
  2.
  3. I woke up, the only thing on my mind being the heat that permeated the room. Light filtered through the window slightly hidden behind my computer on the far wall of the room, from what I could tell was it was morning, or at the very least sun rise.
  4.
  5. I let out a muffled yawn, my mind still in that early morning daze. "wha time is..." I said, my words cut off mid sentence as something brushed by my arm.
  6.
  7. I froze, my sleep befuddled mind shifted into over drive as it registered the fuzzy anomaly.
  8.
  9. "GoddamnsonuvaGETITOFFME!" I said hastily, adrenaline pumped through my system, waking me up in the process.
  10.
  11. Frantic, I stopped to see what it was, hoping it wasn't a spider or something worse. Grabbing the covers and tossing them aside I was greeted to the naked backside of a woman. A large bushy tea coloured tail, which seemed to be attached to her, lazily swished about at random intervals. My thoughts about the situation however were interrupted as the body turned, a small sleepy voice called out.
  12.
  13. "Anon? Why are you yelling so early in the morning?" The voice called out, the woman turning over in bed to face me. "Why are you even awake at this time?"
  14.
  15. "Your tail brushed against my arm and freaked me out, sorry about waking you Tsubaki" I said with a yawn. "Also it's really hot, the tail wigging me out was the icing on the cake"
  16.
  17. "Does my tail really bother you Anon?" she asked, a small yawn punctuating the last few words.
  18.
  19. "No no, just that you know how when sometimes you feel something brush up against you and don't know what it is so you sorta panic? it was one of those moments" I said, sitting down on the edge of the bed. Another yawn escaped me before deciding it best to just lay there and shut my eyes.
  20.
  21. "Hey Anon, I think the power is out in the apartment." Tsubaki said, pulling herself close and laying her head on my chest.
  22.
  23. "I was wondering why my alarm clock didn't go off, I'm gonna be late." I said.
  24.
  25. "Anon, it's Saturday, you don't work on Saturday and I don't remember you saying anything, so can we just lay in bed a bit longer?"
  26.
  27. As Tsubaki said this, I ran through my own internal calendar, with only a minor out loud thought before I finally confirmed what she said. "Guess you're right" I said, stroking her head. "How about I go make breakfast then, stove is gas after all I could make eggs and bacon"
  28.
  29. "Can we just lay in bed for a bit longer Anon?"
  30.
  31. Despite the muggy climate of the room, feeling Tsubaki laying against me felt comforting. Laying there, I just stroked her head, running my fingers through her hair. Despite all the muggy heat part of me wanted this peaceful feeling to go on forever. The tranquility didn't last however, as a rumble from my stomach broke the atmosphere.
  32.
  33. "Well there's a universal indicator that it's time for food" I said cracking a smile. "how about those eggs Tsuba? how do you want yours?"
  34.
  35. Tsubaki's head craned up to look at me from her restful position, "honestly Anon, even if I said fried with you it always ends up scrambled."
  36.
  37. "Can't help it, I'm bad at cooking"
  38.
  39. "It shows."
  40.
  41. A hearty laugh escaped me at Tsubaki's response as I got out of bed. What she said had some truth to it, I wasn't a good cook, but then again I wasn't bad at it either. With the dim morning light filtering through the room, I moved over to my dresser and fished out a plain cotton tee, throwing it on. I got as far as getting the shirt over my head before I felt Tsubaki wrap herself around my waist.
  42.
  43. "Do you have to put it on a shirt Anon? can't you cook without it on?" She said in a rather seductive voice.
  44.
  45. "Unless you find grease burns hot, then yes, the shirt is going on. I have to cook bacon after all" I said through the shirt, gingerly pulling myself away from Tsubaki while making sure not to walk into the dresser in front of me.
  46.
  47. With a now acceptable level of protection against potential flying bacon grease, I headed off to make breakfast for the two of us, which aside from breaking the yolk of one of the eggs I was frying when Tsubaki playfully put a hand over my crotch the morning continued to be uneventful. Taking our usual eating spot we discussed a way to best contend with the day's power outage and heat, agreeing that it was another beach day.
