  1. THIS VOD IS BEGINNING AT 1:23:00
  2.
  3. So just a first thing, before the VOD starts. I try to sugar coat things as little as possible because it helps more to hear it how it really is.
  4. That said, I won't abuse you for every little mistake you make, but I will pick on you a bit. Cheers!
  5.
  6. Alright so before the round has started, I can see you've locked Zen. You've also locked zen before 66% of the team (4 people apart from you) have picked. This shows to me that you're biased towards playing zen.
  7. The reason why I say this is because with the Brigitte meta coming up, You will generally want to be open to playing Brigitte over Zen. This doesn't mean that Zen is less meta than she is, but if the enemy team has a mercy then she will simply damage boost hanzo ult and your transcendence will be nullified.
  8. It's better to have the ability to load up with 150+ armor and extremely high burst healing than to have discord orb. I'm not the best at explaining character theory without demonstrating so if you have any question about this
  9. ASK ME
  10.
  11. Alright, moving on to the vod itself.
  12.
  13. At 1:24:53, you can see that the othre team has a mercy main, zarya main, and two hanzo mains. This means that they will be running grav-hanzo combo. Though this is generally the (stale) meta at higher SRs, it's always good to communicate this to your team, so they can try to play around it
  14.
  15. So in the first fight, I don't see much more that you could've done.
  16. After this fight though, at 1:26:04, you should have backed off as soon as you realized you lost the fight. There was no point in staying up so far when the fight was clearly lost. Because you did this, it allowed the Zarya to gain some valuable ult charge against you, bringing the enemy closer to the hanzo-grav combo. Now she didn't gain much off of you and it was your team's lack of communication that lost you the fight, but I'm here to coach your play, and your play alone.
  17.
  18. At around 1:26:33, your hanzo gets a good opening pick off which gets rezzed, but your brigitte gets picked off. Now you must understand, in this meta, you are no longer a healer for your flankers as zen used to be. Your primary job is to AID your supports by keeping them alive so they in-turn can keep everyone else alive. Your other job is to discord key targets IN THE BRAWL such as reinhart, zarya, and brigitte, so your frontline will win the frontline battle, allowing for you to push in.
  19. What you might have wanted to do is keep your orb on the brigitte. Your zarya has 400 hp as well as a mercy pocketing her, and your rein has 500 HP as well as a large shield. Your brigitte, while not generally a weak character, is currently the most exposed character in your frontline.
  20. At 1:26:43, your rein is getting aggressive. The first thing you need to do is call for him to back off. The second thing you need to do is cancel your right click which is charging(whether that be melee cancel or just shooting it) to get a heal on your reinhart. While Zenyatta's healing isn't that much, it's still 30hp/second, which could possibly have been enough to keep your reinhart alive.
  21. Again at 1:26:50 you should have backed off while you had the chance, as opposed to charging up a right click.
  22.
  23. You need to stop going right side. Not only does it seperate your from your team, but it allows for the enemy hanzo to constantly pick at you. It also prevents you from healing your backline since the frontline will be blocking your view of them.
  24.
  25. So what you did at 1:27:17, you transcendeded into the grav. Now normally this would be fine, but with this meta, the other team is almost guaranteed to damage boost the hanzo ult, which will 100% of the time outdamage transcendence. If you're playing Zen, I would suggest saving your ult to either block a different ult(such as shatter) or to engage.
  26.
  27. At 1:27:53, your Brigitte ults. Now, as I hope you know, you won't get the effects of her ult if you aren't within her effective radius. At this point, you should be pushing up forward to get the armor bonus so that you have 350 HP, as opposed ot 200.
  28.
  29. You guys end up failing the push but just as an example, if you had transcendence here, you guys would have been able to push in with it and go straight to point. Now this tactic works because the defending side always has the positiong advantage. When you run past the enemy team straight to point, you effictively begin to defend it from their advances as opposed to attacking it.
  30.
  31. At 1:28:59, you guys win the push due to the absolute destructive power of grav-hanzo ult, but you feed unnecessarily. There is no need for you to discord the enemy because you know that there is a damage boosted dragon pushing into the grav. While this did not, by any means, lose you the fight, it's a terrible habit to pick up. Above all you are a healer. 3 seconds worth of damage taken increase isn't worth your life, and could cost you the fight. Especially since you were closing in on your transcendence.
  32.
  33. At 1:29:47, instead of talking with your friend in discord, you should be calling out the hanzo playing around left window. While it's a very trivial thing, any advantange is an advantage. Even if the advantage is knowing where the enemy is before you encounter them.
  34.
  35. A common theme that I've seen through this game is that you aren't calling out people who are in off-positions. You sometimes call them out in discord, but you don't always call them out to the team. Keep in mind that the discord only has one other person who can benefit from your callouts as opposed to 5 others in team chat.
  36.
  37. At 1:32:25, due to 2CP, the enemy team is slowly starting to come back. What you might have considered doing was transcending so that your team could play extremely aggressive and wipe them again, and so you wouldn't die.
  38.
  39. Your zarya proceeds to kill everything which is good, but your ult was wasted. You didn't end up using it for anything, and you guys potentially could've capped faster had you used it.
  40.
  41. I'm not going to coach the rest of the vod because I want to focus more on your Zenyatta gameplay, because Zarya is not the hero you will play in OD, or any other Uber-Competitive setting.
  42.
  43. So what I'm seeing the most out of your zen is your lack of vocal communication. You aren't calling out enemies who are playing in off-positions, you aren't calling pushes or retreats, etc. Now, even though you may not be a shotcaller, Supports will generally be shotcalling. Not only because good players have much more awareness than other players, but because the position that you play in allows for you to see more of the battle.
  44.
  45. You didn't do anything special either. The key to winning a majority of your games is to become so good that you are the reason you win. You guys did win, but not because of anything you did. Your target priority is pretty good with your discord, but I would suggest trying to prioritize your supports for healing, unless absolutely necessary. The game was mostly just you spamming into tight areas while your tanks and brig did most of the grunt work but generally to play Zen effectively, you want to put yourself in positions where you can retreat to your team without dying, and do large amounts of damage. For instance, if you look at jjonak, he's a very aggressive Zenyatta player. The reason why he has such good results is because he understands how to play Zen like that without feeding. The way you play depends on how your team plays though, so you're going to have to play around that.
  46.
  47. This should be all for now.
