  2. ~~~~~~~~~~~
  3. Prologue
  4. ~~~~~~~~~~~
  5. A voice talks about how much she loves the housing complex. Everything from the park where she can have fun conversations with friends, the delicious smells around sunset, the view from the roof... It's her home, a place very important to her, which is why she'll...
  6.
  7. Reira's mother calls out to Reira. It's about time for her to go to school. Reira cheerfully responds that she's ready and she hasn't forgotten anything. Reira's mom hands Reira her bento and she leaves.
  8.
  9. We learn that this housing complex is the "Kamihama Daitou Housing Complex", located in Kamihama city's Daitou Ward.
  10.
  11. >Seika: ........ (...Things should be...okay...) .......Okay... (...I need to go to school...)
  12.
  13. The complex is made up of 60 buildings, it's an enormous housing complex, etc.
  14.
  15. >Mito: Hmhm... (I wonder...what flower is this? It's so pretty~!) ...Oh! (There's some blooming over here too!)
  16.
  17. Although the residents aren't aware of it, their everyday lives are already beginning to fall apart.
  18.
  19. ~~~~~~~~~~~
  20. Reira 1

  22. <One Morning
  23. Kamihama Daitou Housing Complex
  24. Building Number 10
  25. Residential Room 305
  26.
  27. Ibuki Reira>
  28.
  29. Reira cheerfully greets an old woman good morning. The woman comments on how early Reira is. Reira says that she's awake only because she's in charge of taking out the trash today. The owoman says her son is also supposed to be the one taking out the trash, and yet, here she is taking out the trash. She asks if Reira could tell him to take out the trash like he's supposed to. Reira reluctantly agrees, wondering silently to herself whether she can.
  30.
  31. Before Reira leaves, the woman tells her to be careful. Apparently, there's been a greater number of disturbing incidents happening around the complex. She tells her to run away the minute she sees someone strange.
  32.
  33. >Reira: "Disturbing incidents"...huh... True, lately a lot of things have happened at this housing complex... Scary...But...
  34. >Reira: Haaa... (...Nn? Ah, it's Seika!) Seikaaaaa--! Good morning--!
  35.
  36. >Seika: Waah! Re, Reira!? ...Geez! ...Good morning!
  37.
  38. ~~~~~~~~~~~
  39. Seika 1

  41. <One Morning

  43. Building Number 31
  44. Residential Room 403
  45.
  46. Kumi Seika>
  47.
  48. >Seika: ........? .....Waah!
  49.
  50. The president of the neighborhood association is startled by her scream, but quickly recognizes her. He asks why she screamed, but she seems reluctant to answer. After an awkward silence, he asks if she's headed for school. She replies that she is. He hands her a poster and asks her to take a look at it. "Watch out for suspicious people!"
  51. He comments on how there's recently been reports of suspicious people being spotted around the complex. So, as the president of the neighborhood association, he has to warn everyone and remind them to run away as soon as they see someone suspicious. He tells Seika to let an adult know right away as well.
  52.
  53. After parting ways, Seika thinks to herself about how she has a bad habit of getting startled easily over the smallest things. She thinks that he must've thought that she's suspicious too and lets out a sigh. Then, she starts thinking about the sightings of suspicious people, wondering if the story ends there, or...
  54.
  55. Just then, Reira interrupts her thoughts with a loud "good morning", startling Seika.
  56. >Reira: Nn? What's wrong?
  57. >Seika: ...Nothing!
  58. >Reira: ...Did I startle you? Sorry about that!
  59. >Seika: ...Fufu...It's okay.
  60.
  61. Then they hear another scream, which startles both of them. It's Mito.
  62.
  63. ~~~~~~~~~~~
  64. Mito 1

  66. <One Morning

  71.
  72. Aino Mito>
  73.
  74. >Mito: H~~~m...
  75. >Lady: Mito-chan, good morning...
  76. >Mito: Oh, good morning--!
  77.
  78. The lady asks if she's not feeling well since she's been staying in one place, staring at something for a long time. It turns out Mito's feeling fine, she was just picking clovers. Unfortunately, they're all three leaf clovers.
  79.
  80. >Lady: Well, after all that's normal.
  81. >Mito: Three leaf clovers are normal... Then, then! Four leaf clovers aren't normal.
  82.
  83. The lady agrees, saying they're an exception. They're not common, which is why they're thought to bring good luck to those who do find them.
  84. Mito feels sad since she thinks that means she won't be lucky for some time. The lady replies that happiness isn't found that easily, then asks if Mito's headed for school.
  85. Mito totally forgot that she's supposed to go to school and hurries away. She sees Reira and Seika and decides to surprise them since they haven't noticed she's coming yet. She lets out the scream heard in Seika 1.
  86.
  87. Seika's worn out since this is the second time in a row. Reira explains that she also startled Seika with a scream. Mito apologizes and Seika forgives her--though she's thinking of getting her revenge by doing the same next time.
  88. Mito says she can't be startled that easily, which gets Seika fired up. Reira hurries the girls along and they all go to school together.
  89.
  90. ~~~~~~~~~~~
  91. Reira 2
  92. ~~~~~~~~~~~
  93. At school, Reira thinks about the woman's warning about disturbing things. She thinks that it's referring to the recent fuss about the suspicious people and an "incident" that took place just a little while ago. Apparently Daitou Ward is known for being an unsafe/bad area of Kamihama, but the housing complex she lives at is actually pretty peaceful. And yet...
  94. She admits she does think the incidents are scary, but what she doesn't like more than the incidents are that they're affecting the atmosphere of the housing complex. She has a lot of fun memories of her home and the housing complex in general, and she feels like those memories will be ruined. She lets out an unhappy sigh, and another girl asks her what's wrong.
  95. Reira says she was just spacing out. The girl wants Reira to be on cleaning duty instead of her. Again. She offers to pay Reira back later on. Reira reluctantly agrees.
  96.
  97. >Girl: Reira, you're such an angel! Thanks!
  98.
  99. Reira silently thinks to herself about how she's not an angel or anything. She just fears what saying no would do to their relationship. If she does what the girl asks, then nothing will happen, and that's why she agreed.
  100.
  101. ~~~~~~~~~~~
  102. Reira 3
  103. ~~~~~~~~~~~
  104. Lunchtime. Reira notes that usually most students stay in their classrooms and eat with their classmates. Usually the conversations are light and pointless, but today the conversations were a bit different.
  105. The girl from earlier comments on how the police visited her house. They described a burglar and asked her mom whether she recognized them. Eventually, the conversation shifts focus to Reira and how there was an incident at the housing complex she lives at.
  106.
  107. Three months ago, a family (the husband, wife and a single child) went missing at the housing complex. The furniture was left untouched and there were no signs of any break ins or anything. The family was your average family, no financial troubles, no bad rumors, etc.
  108.
  109. The other girl comments on how there's a bad guy at the housing complex Reira lives at. She heard it from her mom, who works part time at a supermarket near Reira's place. Reira tells them about the poster warning them about suspicious people. They comment on how that's scary and tell her to watch out.
  110. Reira cheerfully says she's always with her friends at the housing complex, but the girl comments on how this reminds her of a horror movie. A suspicious person walking around, looking for people to kidnap... The other girl tells her to knock it off and the girl apologizes, saying she was only joking.
  111. Reira pretends like she's fine, but thinks to herself how she isn't. She wonders if Seika and Mito have to deal with the same kind of conversations too. This reminds her that she needs to let them know that she'll be on cleaning duty, so she'll be late.
  112.
  113. ~~~~~~~~~~~
  114. Seika 2
  115. ~~~~~~~~~~~
  116. Meanwhile, Seika is thinking about the warnings about suspicious people. Something is causing a disturbance in her heart and she's not only uncomfortable, but she can also sense something. Her thoughts are interrupted by two girls arguing about something. Finally, one girl asks Seika if she wants to eat lunch with them.
  117. Seika is surprised. This is the first time she's been asked by anyone aside from Reira and Mito.
  118.
  119. For a long time now, she's shy and she can't really talk to other people. It's not like she hates people, but rather she gets nervous if she sees someone in front of her. As a result, she's used to being by herself all the time. She wants to become friends with someone...! But she can't talk to them... She's lonely by herself...! But, she's also scared of talking to other people...
  120. The only exceptions are Reira and Mito.
  121.
  122. Unfortunately, she finds herself at a loss for words and the other girl assumes Seika doesn't want to have lunch with them. The two girls leave and Seika sighs. This isn't the first time something like this has happened. She explains that she has a face like an oni's when she gets shy and as a result she has several bad labels of being someone that likes to be by herself, etc.
  123. It's not like she did anything wrong. Rather, it seems her appearances speak louder than her words.
  124.
  125. Left by herself, without a choice, Seika decides to go "there" again.
  126.
  127. ~~~~~~~~~~~
  128. Mito 2
  129. ~~~~~~~~~~~
  130. Mito loves school. Studying is fun, she likes to learn things she didn't know before. Her favorite subjects are music, geography and PE. But, sometimes...
  131.
  132. As Mito looks forward to the next class, humming to herself, a girl is doing her best not to burst out laughing. The other girl scolds her. The girl tells Mito that she's sorry, but she thinks Mito really is weird. The other girl agrees.
  133. Mito thinks that since they called her unusual, that means she's like a four leaf clover and wonders out loud if that means she'll find happiness. They don't understand what she's talking about and call her weird again.
  134.
  135. Mito's aware that they're making fun of her. It's been that way for a long time now. She thinks she's acting normal, but everyone around her calls her weird. She wonders why and if she really is that weird.
  136.
  137. >Mito: No... I'm not... Even if I was... Are you supposed to laugh and make fun of something that's weird...?
  138.
  139. The girls invite Mito to eat lunch with them. She reluctantly agrees. The girls laugh and comment on how her bento must also be weird, like her, so they ask if they can see it.
  140. Mito laughs it off and apologizes. She already promised to eat with some other friends. The girls laugh and comment on how those friends must be weird too. They want to see those friends of her, so they tell her to show them what they look like sometime.
  141. She leaves. One girl comments on how they went out of their way to invite her, and yet she turned them down. The other jokingly tells Mito to have fun with her fellow weirdoes.
  142.
  143. In the hallway, Mito thinks how friends aren't something you show to other people.
  144.
  145. ~~~~~~~~~~~
  146. Seika 3
  147. ~~~~~~~~~~~
  148. Seika is alone in the AV room, which is open even during lunch. On top of that, it's usually unoccupied since most students either go to the roof or eat in their classrooms. Whenever she doesn't feel comfortable in the classroom, she eats at the AV room.
  149. She thinks over how she missed her opportunity earlier and how she usually ends up alone. There's only been exception.
  150.
  151. >???: KNOCK KNOCK!
  152. >Seika: Waaah!
  153.
  154. The vocal knock could only be from one person: Mito. Mito went looking for Seika in her class, but didn't see her so she figured Seika was in the AV room. She wanted to invite Seika to eat with her. Unless, of course, Seika doesn't want to.
  155.
  156. >Seika: No...of course!
  157. >Mito: Yayyy!
  158. >Seika: What about Reira...?
  159. >Mito: Ahh, yeah, I went to look but she was eating with her friends in her class.
  160. >Seika: I see...
  161. >Mito: Now, let's eat!
  162. >Seika: ...Yes!
  163.
  164. The one time Seika managed to naturally, honestly talk to other people was when she was with Mito and Reira.
  165.
  166. ~~~~~~~~~~~
  167. Mito 3
  168. ~~~~~~~~~~~
  169. Mito really wanted to just talk about fun things with Seika, but since she was told that she was weird in the classroom, Mito finds herself asking Seika whether she thinks she's weird. Seika asks what Mito means by "weird". Mito explains that she means "different from other people".
  170. But the conversation is making Mito uncomfortable (or maybe she just fears how Seika might answer) and she quickly changes the subject.
  171.
  172. >Mito: ...That's why I'm the suspicious person at the housing complex~! Hehe~!
  173. >Seika: ...What are you saying!?
  174. >Mito: Eh...!
  175. >Seika: (Oh...!) ...T, There's no way you are! That's not a very good joke, you know~!
  176.
  177. Mito apologizes. Seika also apologizes. Maybe her response was too strong. Mito says she was startled since Seika's voice was too loud.
  178. Seika changes the subject back to the topic of whether Mito is weird. She thinks it's obvious that people are different from one another. There's no one individual that's the same. Mito is Mito. Of course she's different.
  179. Seika asks if something happened. Mito brushes it off.
  180.
  181. Then Seika and Mito get notifications on their cellphones. It's a message from Reira about cleaning duty.
  182.
  183. >Seika: She's doing it for someone else again...?
  184. >Mito: Reira's so nice, isn't she!
  185.
  186. Seika comments on how Reira might be too nice, but she silently agrees with Mito. After all, even back then, Reira was...
  187.
  188. ~~~~~~~~~~~
  189. Trio 2
  190. ~~~~~~~~~~~
  191. Flashback to when the trio first met.
  192.
  193. >Reira: Um...you're the kid that just moved here, right?
  194. >Seika: ...Y, Yeah...
  195. >Mito: Wowww, you were right, she is!
  196. >Reira: Hey, what's your name? I'm Reira!
  197. >Mito: I'm Mito!
  198. >Seika: ...Seika...
  199. >Reira: So you're Seika-chan! Hey!
  200. >Seika: ...W, What is it...?
  201. >Reira: You should be our friend!
  202.
  203. Flashback ends. Seika is at the park in the housing complex, where it happened. Reira hears what happened at lunch and tells them that they should've invited her too. Mito says she was already eating by the time she went, that's why she ate with Seika.
  204. Reira admits that she should've left the classroom too and explains what happened. When Seika hears about the suspicious person, she frowns. Mito notices, but doesn't say anything. Instead, she goes along with Reira's conversation and comments how the housing complex isn't scary at all. All three girls agree.
  205.
  206. >Seika: ...Yeah... It's okay! (...It's okay...)
  207.
  208. Seika suddenly senses something that the other two girls don't. Reira continues sighing about how the subject will probably keep coming up at school. Seika interrupts, apologizing. She's going to leave early, since her mom asked her to do something. The other two say good-bye.
  209.
  210. >Seika: ........... (...Reira...Mito...It'll be okay...)
