  1. So before I provide any sort of opinion, I want to just explain a few things. Yes, I do play Smogon, but I'm not a butthurt Smogon fan like the few of them there are. I both enjoy Smogon and VGC, and I would even like to participate in VGC eventually. However, I do play mostly Smogon as of right now. So just keep in mind, I'm not a butthurt Smogon fan, and while these people exist, they only attack you because you aim to hurt the community.
  2.
  3. Now, the first thing I want to talk about is how you mention that we call ourselves "an official" community. This is far from the truth. Most players understand that Smogon isn't an official community, and only a community that aims to balance competitive play. This "Smogon Philosophy" you mention, it doesn't say that Smogon is the only right way to play at all. As a matter of fact, we have our own VGC community too, which is played quite frequently. So, in the future, please understand that we don't call ourselves official.

  5. About the Delcatty thing, the reason they call it so "bad" is because Delcatty really is horrible in the tier it's ranked in. It gets heavily outclassed by other Pokemon in it's tier, known as "PU" for future reference (if you don't know what that is, there will be a paragraph for tiers). While yes, it might be able to do work in the VGC format, the format Smogon provides proves it to be bad. Also, it's not because the Pokemon is bad as a whole, it's merely out classed by another Pokemon, which is why it's deemed as bad.

  7. Now, for the tiers. I want to touch upon Smogon's format for a minute. As a reminder, I'm not calling this the official format at all, rather I'm only pointing out how it works so you understand how Smogon does it's tiering in the future. Smogon has 6 main tiers. These tiers are OU (Overused), UU (Underused), RU (Rarelyused), NU (Neverused), PU (Doesn't stand for anything, but is below NU), and Ubers, which is where all the banned stuff from OU goes. Now I want to bring up how banning and suspect tests work here, and how stuff gets banned to Ubers. You mention how quick bans are decided by a small group of people, and yes this is true. However, this group of people is carefully selected, and they know way more about how the meta works than the average player. Also, most of the quick bans that happen are mostly agreed on by the community. While the community doesn't make the decisions, most players are happy with the quick bans in the end. Now for the suspect tests and ladders. Suspect tests are also decided from the small group of people we mention, called "the council". On the side, each tier has a council. These "suspect tests" are started when the council, (and often the community), agrees that a Pokemon should be put up for testing due to it's immense power. The test ladders are created so the community gets a chance to vote too, rather than just the 6-7 people in the council. Oh yeah, and guess what: Most of the people complaining about how cancer a Pokemon is usually doesn't make requirements, which the reqs are usually 2700 coil in 70 games ("coil" is something for another time). This usually ends with around 50-100 people getting the ability to vote on the Pokemon being tested. With that out of the way, I can finally get to tiering. Tiering is decided (usually) by usage, and that usage is 3.14% usage in the tier it's being played in. Say Delcatty is in PU, and it gets 3.14% usage in the tier above, NU. This would mean at the end of a few months, it would be moved up to NU, thanks to usage. Now, you do say that usage doesn't mean strength, and you are absolutely correct. This is why we have miniature and unplayable tiers, called BL-BL4 (BL=Borderline). The Pokemon in these tiers are Pokemon who don't have the usage to be in the tier above, but are deemed too powerful by the tier below. That's how the tiering system on Smogon works.

  9. I'm almost done, but I wanted to bring up the comic. It's literally a joke, and so is that guy. He's an idiot, and doesn't really participate on Smogon or Pokemon Showdown at all.
  10.
  11. Now for the whole "You're using Mega Kangaskhan" ordeal. You see, Smogon players can't complain about this because it has it's own tier called "Ubers." In this tier, legends and Pokemon that are deemed too powerful for OU lay. Mega Kangaskhan is one of these Pokemon, and a lot of people play the tier, so it's very hard for them to complain. Also, speaking of cheating, not all of us gen our Pokemon like you say.
  12.
  13. Last but not least, I want to mention that we don't care if you play VGC. Like mentioned earlier, VGC is even a playable ladder on Pokemon Showdown, so users can't really complain. In the future, please understand we don't hate VGC, most of us just enjoy the play of singles and a balanced meta (This is not saying VGC isn't balanced).
