  3. What was your first aquatic creature?
  4. My very first aquatic animal was in fact tadpoles! When I was around 4 me and my family went out and collected buckets of tadpole eggs as the pond was close to drying up. We first kept them in large storage containers and soon found hundreds of little black spots swimming around, I was amazed. At this point we realised we needed a bigger home for them asap! So we moved them to our blow up pool where they lived to become frogs, sadly only one tadpole made it to frog life and once he had left he would always return each year in our garden! We have moved since so it would be cool to see if he still goes around from time to time.

  6. What led you to start fish keeping?
  7. Well when I took into fish keeping seriously the idea first sparked when my dad had the thought of getting a tank himself, the idea of his soon blew out but I however was still really fascinated and intrigued. I soon asked for my first tropical tank one birthday which was a 20g long. I was still fascinated because I loved the thought of having a simple (cough cough) pet and that I was be able to create their home and give them their best life possible.

  9. How long have you been keeping fish?
  10. It’s been approximately 2 years since I first started properly. I’ve learnt a lot in that time but there’s still so much more! I’m that time I’ve also joined this amino and made many new friends and learnt even more

  12. What is your favorite type of fish to keep, and what fish would you say you have the most expertise in?
  13. For both I would have to answer my platys! I’m sure we’ve all had them at one point and i love them to bits. They may not be the most prettiest, advanced or colourful but that’s what I love about them. My first 2 platt I ever bought lived alone for a good while when one of the two females decided to give birth unexpected to me. (Daddy platy was at the pet shop) The lovely mother of 8 gave birth to perfectly shaped and coloured platy and once they had turned 6 months I was devastated to see the mother (Molly) had passed away one day. As kudos to Molly I have kept her children and to this day she would be a grandmother! Rip Molly 🧡 The other original platy lives on as their ‘Aunty’ we sat at home.

  15. What led you to keeping these fish?
  16. Well it was kinda my only choice at the start. At the pet shop after cycling they were the smallest fish that wouldn’t kill off the bacteria from the cycle so I was happy with 2 platy. One pure orange and one orange with black
  17.
  18. What’s one mistake that you’ve made in fish keeping that you’d like others to learn from?
  19. The one thing I can think of is who you leave your fish to when you’re away. Though it never ended badly, it was risky and I’ve given a detailed list of what to do when my nan comes and looks after our animals ever since. When I went to Egypt a platy had just given birth a week before my holiday. They had been housed in my fry grow out tank but I had failed to tell my Nan what they ate. Because I had never told her, she had them way to much food and it had started to grow mould on the substrate where uneaten food lay. Luckily all the fish were fine and now my Nan is fully aware of how to look after my fish next time around!

  21. What led you to joining this amino?
  22. I originally had the app for the Minecraft amino back in my Minecraft playing times, after I stopped playing it I never deleted the app and once I had rediscovered the amino app on my phone I was interested into getting fish. So I searched up ‘fish amino’ one day and it all went from there.
  23.
  24. What have you learned from being a part of this amino?
  25. Loads! I think some of the main things include how to keep my plants alive and healthy, how to care for my neon tetras and what size tanks, different fish need. The wiki has been the most useful too as it has nearly everything I have needed if I’ve been in any trouble
  26.
  27. What’s one thing you’ve felt you’ve contributed to the amino?
  28. Personally (I hope) I like to think I’ve helped to create the amino be a friendly and welcoming place to join for new comers and make them feel at home! I’ve tried to help as much as possible with the LT such as announcements and also helping people. Leading on to that I’ve helped introduce the new helper team (!) to help everyone get the right information, that’s a lot of ‘help’ lol. I’m here to learn too so I may make my own mistakes here and there, but we’re all human.
  29.
  30. What is your favorite aspect of fish keeping?
  31. My favourite aspect to fish keeping would have to be the most scary part! Getting new fish, I love seeing them be released into the tank I’ve made for them and I find pure joy in watching them explore the crevices, hides and open waters. It’s also a great time to see if you need to change anything like decor placement to improve the fishes home.
  32.
  33. If you had one think that you wanted to tell the entire amino, what would it be?
  34. The one thing I think everyone should know is that us the LT really do try our best to create the best community. We know we’re not always the most liked people for some but we really do try our best, to make it the best. We are always open for suggestions and improvements but remember, we’re doing what we feel is right! And that we only want what’s the most fun and interesting for the community.
