The story portion of the guide is written from the perspective of 9S, 2B and A2 depending on route and goes into inner monologue at times, which reveals a bit more of what each character is feeling at certain parts of the story. For example, how 9S doesn't actually remember 2B at the prologue mission but feels compelled to save her data first; all the machine lifeform flashbacks are actually memories that 9S sees as a result of hacking the machines (I thought this detail was kinda neat, made sense how the backstories only showed up in route B), and 9S feels a deep 'connection' with 2B as she's strangling him to death (implying the implications) and all he thinks about is her fingers on his throat and how warm it is.

  71. Route C/D descriptions are kinda funny to read side by side because A2's side is mostly pure narration while 9S side is having an existential breakdown. He really goes off the deep end after seeing A2 kill 2B, and the book confirms that virus corruption is definitely responsible for some of his degenerate behavior, and by the time he begins scaling the tower the only thing he still holds on to are his feelings for 2B.

  77. It feels like my very existence is at risk. Is this just a lie? Or actually the truth? I have no way to confirm this rush of information flowing into me - things I never wanted to know. The more I know, the more I feel myself approaching something darker in nature, overwhelming my existence. But I have no other path to take, so I hacked the final core I reached and found myself in a nondescript area.

  80. I am standing in my own memory region. Fragments of my past are reflected on multiple screens. And standing right in the middle of my memory region is...her.

  84. All the surrounding screens are filled with the memories I have with 2B. No matter where I look, she's there. I approach her on unsteady feet. Just as I reached out to touch her, black noise appeared and mercilessly trampled over my memories.

Over, and over, and over again. My screams are not stopping. The thing beneath my body took 2B's form as my stabs drew blood. But she doesn't even smile. She has a blank expression, her body cold like a doll. But the feeling of my sword sinking into her is much too real and vivid.

  101. During his fight with A2 as depicted in the strategy guide, 9S was thinking about how he really really wants to destroy A2 because she's looking at him with 'her' face.

  103. 9S infection worsens as he fights the 2B clones, but he refuses to let go of his feelings for 2B even though he's losing logical thought. The infection reaches its peak as he faces off with A2 and his thoughts are just a mumbled mess, he desires destruction (both for himself and for everything around him) just because those thoughts distract him from having to ponder the meaningless of everything.

  105. The final words that 9S says are left blank, so he could've either joined the Ark or refused.
