>He knows he ought to be taking this seriously
>He knows the words that need to come out of his mouth
>Addressing that he doesn't want to hurt her, that he wants to help
>And make no mistake, those intentions are all still there and honest as ever
>But try as he might, Kris can;t stop the steady advance of a smile creeping across his face

>Veth hears it and her eyes widen.

>And as he sheathes his weapon, she knows he's not trying to trick her.

>"W-what?!"
>She gets back into a stance, shaky and unsure, but it's enough to prompt Kris' intervention
>"V-Veth, calm down!"
>He doesn't mean to laugh out loud, but he does anyway
>"What are you laughing at?!" She growls
>"I-I just told you!" At this point, he's gripping his gut laughing. "V-Veth, your b oob is out!"
>Against all sense, she replies to that seriously
>"I d-don't have b oobth!"
>"Well, what's that?!"
>He points to her chest and she flinches
>Then, she looks down
>And to her horror, she realizes he's not trying to mess with her
>There's a cute little grey b reast hanging out of torn fabric
>Glimmering with sweat and jiggling ever so little with her every move.
>Her grey cheeks go scarlet in seconds
>The Vessel drops her cracked sword and covers her tenderness with an embarrassed squeal
>Kris is covering his eyes, but she's already swatting at him like a cat.
>"TH-THTOP LOOKING AT IT!"
>"I'm not!" Kris protests.
>"YOU JUTHT WERE!!"
>They both sputter there for a while
>And after a few moments, Kris picks up a shattered part of her b reastplate and proffers it to her
>"Here." he says, handing it over. "Let's talk."

>The boy scowls with shut eyelids, angry images of that mechanical quack flashing in his head
>He clears them to speak again. "*sigh* It should have been obvious. It had to be someone giving you these ideas."
>Veth swallows a lump. While she had been manipulated, it wasn't like she didn't do anything of her own accord

>He's already willing to forgive. "It's alright. I get why it happened."

>The vessel perks her head up as she listens
>"And even though I didn't know everything... I could tell you were unhappy too."

>"... and if I deserve to be saved from that... so did you."
>In a flash, she bursts from the veil and wraps her arms around Kris
>She has no words, but he knows what she's saying and returns her embrace with all his heart
>Which is why, after a few minutes of hugging, his next words take her so off guard
