  1. Her eyes gleamed with wonder as she looked at the stars, tracing the constellations with her gaze. Luke was fascinated by those eyes, the way they lit up when faced with the beauty of the world and the way they shone with unshed tears whenever they were faced with the evil. But most of all, they sparkled with determination and bravery. This girl had seen things, done things, and will do things that the rest of the world would see as horrible. Her eyes might have been what drew him to her in the first place, but the rest of her was pretty nice too. A slim, muscular frame and large beautiful black wings coupled with her deceptively delicate hands that he knew he didn’t stand a chance against. She was leaning back on those delicately deadly hands staring at the stars, she never looked more beautiful yet more like the 14-year-old girl she was.
  2. “Hey Luke?” His eyes snapped to hers which had at some point in his admiring drifted his direction.
  3. “Yeah?” Was it just him or is everything uncomfortable now, though that could just be his embarrassment at being caught staring.
  4. “I do remember something of my past.” Luke breathed a silent sigh of relief that she hadn’t noticed and her eyes drifted back to the stars. “I remember warmth, and safety. And a song.”
  5. “A song?” Luke scrunched his eyebrows together in confusion. “That's quite a strange thing to remember.”
  6. “Believe me, I know. But I remember it with perfect clarity, weirding me out honestly.” She snorted with withheld probably self-deprecating laughter.
  7. “Well maybe you should sing it. Could help you remember everything else.” Or maybe it’s just because Luke wanted to hear her sing with every fiber of his being.
  8. “Yeah I guess.” She murmured thoughtfully half to herself, half in Luke's direction. For a moment she was still, her purplish black hair drifting in a slight breeze, feathers ruffling from partially outstretched wings. Her eyes closed and she took a deep breath. Then, she sang.

  36. She was facing the stars as she concluded the song, eyes and cheeks wet with shed tears, mouth curled into a soft smile. Luke noticed with little surprise his cheeks hadn’t been spared from tears of pure emotion as well. That song… it resonated with him in a way he hadn’t expected. It tugged at his heartstrings, brought up painful memories then soothed him and gave him hope. It was unlike anything he had ever heard before and he didn’t know quite what to do with it.
  37. “That was beautiful.” Luke could only whisper, afraid to break the silence that stretched between them.
  38. “Thanks.” He seemed to have startled Fina from her thoughts, she quickly wiped away her tears.
  39. “Anything coming back?”
  40. “Nothing right now, but it’s fine because for some reason I feel ridiculously hopeful and sad at the same time so like I’m just gonna leave worrying about memories for later.” That amount of mind reading should be illegal, but he knew she couldn’t actually read minds and that song must be magic or something because they were both feeling way too many emotions right now. But instead of expressing all of that in words he just nodded understandingly and let the peaceful quiet of night prevail over conversation. He looked over at Fina and she met his eyes head on. Luke was fascinated by those eyes, the way they lit up when faced with the beauty of the world and the way they shone with unshed tears whenever they were faced with the evil. But most of all, they sparkled with determination and bravery. This girl had seen things, done things, and will do things that the rest of the world would see as horrible… and he would be there right by her side for every bit of it.
