  1. Palpatine has been defeated. Rey is lying motionless on the ground, a lifeless look in her opened eyes.
  2. Ben drags himself out of the water to her, and takes her in his arms. He slowly whispers her name, but there's no reply. She remains motionless, her eyes wide open, dead.
  3. Above him, Resistance fighters are flying around decimating the last First Order ships, cheering wildly at their victory, blissfully unaware of her terrible sacrifice...
  4.
  5. As the Resistance lands on their base planet again, the cheering continues, families are reunited. Poe heads to Leia's bed, where she's still lying down. All he says is "I'm sorry." Then Luke's old X-Wing flies over, with Ben behind the wheel. He has Rey wrapped up in blankets, and makes no move to land at her mother's bed. Instead, he reaches out to her and allows her to become one with the Force. As she disappears, Ben continues to fly the X-Wing away and lands a few miles off the camp.
  6.
  7. Ben digs a grave in seconds by lifting the soil using the Force, and places Rey in it. He wants to remove the blankets to have one last look at his former enemy/friend/savior, but he stood himself. He already knows what's underneath those blankets, and he doesn't want to see that eternal stare into nothingness again.
  8. He closes the grave with the Force again, and takes a nice, large flat stone to use as gravestone.
  9. After erecting the gravestone, he takes a sharp rock and carves 'REY' on it. After that, he moves the carving stone to where he plans to write her last name, but before he can begin he stops himself and lowers his hand. 'REY' is enough.
  10.
  11. Finn arrives at the scene, and Ben stands up and turns around to face him. The two briefly exchange a look, then they silently reach an understanding.
  12. Finn comes over to him, and as they stand next to each other at Rey's grave, John Williams' score swells and the credits roll.
