Library Kaos has a new space!

On sunday, we squatted the house at Coronel João Manoel St. The house was abandoned for three years , in the middle of the historic center city, and it is part of the legacies of two of the most bourgeois families, owners of the city for centuries: Chaves Barcellos e Wallig.

We are absolutely sure that we are bothering the powerful who have already appeared to threaten us and very risibly invite us to be part of their projects of alternative capitalism. Our answer is one: we are squatters, anarchists, and with the bourgeoisie we have no talk at all.

To our surprise and joy, the neighborhood fully supports the occupation because they have seen that few people have set up a space that has been unused for years. The interaction with them was a clear attitude of solidarity and initiative, not only in words but above all in action, participating in the cleaning of the place and supporting with their presence in some of the visits of the owners.

After the threats of the bourgeois to throw us out with their henchmen and pitbulls, the other squatters of the city arrived to make us feel their solidarity and help.

At the moment we are still in the fight for space, but our decision from the beginning is to remain without negotiation, neither legal nor verbal, with the owners. Occupation is a subversive practice that can not be swallowed up by real estate standards, it is the effective response to the absurd accumulation of land in the hands of a privileged few. Our determination before this is clear: abandoned house, occupied house.

We send our salve to the Solidarity that faces an eviction in these next days, compas an eviction, another occupation !!! To the compas of the Okupas Vila Amelia, Vila Zografou, Agrinio, Aharnon, in Greece, to the squatter Nadir and CCF, compas we follow! The Black Arrow Libraries in Bolivia, Sacco and Vanzetti and Sebastian Oversluij in Chile, and to all self-managed spaces in course of anarchy.

In a new space, here we go where we have always been: in search of freedom and against all authority!
