  1. The story begins with younger Lid and Evan visiting an airship gallery / museum (the one with Cid's portrait). Evan chided Lid for only looking at Cid's portrait, but Lid said of course she knew about the other drawings before the story behind the drawings started.
  2.
  3. In Cid's monologue, he was returning the favour by dwarves who fixed his watch (or clock, same kanji). He visited the dwarves to teach them how to make an airship. However, the dwarves couldn't understand the drawings.
  4.
  5. Nagulfa was the chief of the dwarves. At first, the dwarves wanted Cid to teach them when Nagulfa was away. But Nagulfa was back suddenly. He chided the dwarves for leaving their posts and scolded them into returning to their work. He looked at Cid's drawing and said he was sceptical about his intention. So he told him to go home.
  6.
  7. Sadly, Cid had no home to go back to in Lapis. Some dwarves sneaked in and listened to Cid as he explained. Then Nagulfa yelled and they had to go back to work. A dwarf asked Cid to get a simpler drawing that even a dwarf can understand.
  8.
  9. Cid figured that Lapis drawing is different from Paladia. So he tried to learn how to make drawings but to no avail. Then he met Melete. Melete figured what he was troubled with and said she as an artist could take care of it, arguing that a drawing is still an art piece. She took his drawing and redrew. To Cid's surprise the drawing was perfectly easy to understand and readable.
  10.
  11. Cid happily took Melete's drawing back to show the dwarves. When Nagulfa showed up again, he showed him the drawings. Nagulfa was impressed by the drawing and said such design and proposition could work. He said dwarves should bid the ground goodbye and go to the sky instead. Melete showed and drew a picture of this scene. Nagulfa allowed Melete to draw so that such historic moment could be recorded, with his name remaining forever.
  12.
  13. Nagulfa figured such work could only accomplished by all dwarves working together. So he went off everywhere trying to get back all the dwarves scattered around Lapis to work on the airship. At that time, humans looked down on dwarves so dwarves had hard time mingling with humans despite superior crafting skills.
  14.
  15. Due to Nagulfa's loud voice, his plan of making an airship got overheard by Farma, a girl who aspired to fly.
  16.
  17. While they started working and Cid supervised them. He thought to himself that he told Earth Veritas that him teaching airship to the dwarves was for revenge as well. He needed an airship but he could not build it alone. As he as pondering about him using the dwarves. he spotted some difference in the airship bow.
  18.
  19. He went down to talk with Nagulfa. Nagulfa it was a fashion liked by the dwarves. Cid told them to stick to the original design since it is their first time making an airship. Nagulfa got enraged, telling Cid that they were not making the airship for his sake. Cid got angry and told Nagulfa he needed the airship. Nagulfa punched him.
  20.
  21. Then they kept punching each other as other dwarves gather (to root for the fight). As they fought on, Cid admit that he wanted to fulfill the dream of himself and his comrades. Nagulfa said that since they were both pursuing a dream, they could work together. Such was the romance of men. Melete drew another picture.
  22.
  23. Falma aspired to fly and was always laughed at by the townspeople. As she told them she got the informtion about airship from dwarves, the townspeopel said dwarves are stupid-looking that always just lali lali. She murmured that she tried over 100 ways to fly to no success but never considered flying on a ship.
  24.
  25. Then she visited the dwarves, saying she wanted to ride the airship. Nagulfa said what she could contribute. Falma said she could pilot the airship but Nagulfa immediately rejected. Cid watched from afar as she left disappointedly.
  26.
  27. Falma kept pestering them to give her a chance, saying she'd do anything to get a role. The dwarves pity her, saying that it's actually fine since they didn't have candidate anyway but Nagulfa was stubborn. She got a conversation with Melete, and Melete said she liked people who have dreams like Falma, which ended up Falma touched into tears since it was the first time people talked about her like that, being mocked her whole life.
  28.
  29. Cid pitied her and asked her about why she wanted the role. Falma said about her trying different ways to fly, for example making wings like a bird or casting flying spell but to no success, saying flying was her dream. Cid was impressed at her determination and decided to train her as a pilot, so that Nagulfa would recognize her. Cid lectured her about various aspects such as reading weather, fending off air monsters, etc.
  30.
  31. Finally, Falma went through another interview with Nagulfa with Cid's support. After hearing Falma that flying was her life-long dream, Nagulfa was triggered by the word "dream" and approved her. Nagulfa announced the people who got involved: Nagulfa and his dwarf underlings, Falma the pilot, Melete the artist recording down the historic event (Her quote: "Please don't mind Melete.") and Cid the father of airship (to Cid's surprise)
  32.
  33. When the airship is close to completion, a group of humans attacked, thinking that dwarves were making some dangerous weapon. Then, the party finally stopped them and explained that it was an airship, a mode of transportation. Cid took them to the airship and explained to them to convince them.
  34.
  35. Finally, the airship finally got ready to fly. Cid commented that "I supervised your airship, it will surely fly." But Nagulfa told him to say "our airship" instead of "your". However, as soon as it took flight, the airship was being sucked in by strong wind. As they fend of the monsters, Cid spotted a monster that seemed to be the culprit causing the wind. As he descended, he transformed into Wind Veritas and fought Typhon, the legendary airship eater that was said to also exist in Paladia. Then the wind did not die, Cid (Wind Veritas) proceeded to fight the true culprit, Deathgaze, commenting that he would let "our dream to fly" succeed no matter what. Finally the wind died. Nagulfa and the rest rejoiced but wondered where Cid went. While Wind Veritas continued to descend.
  36.
  37. Then, the scene returned to Lid and Evan talking about the pictures and the mysterious artist Melete.
