SOS-Juice Wars; A New Hope

>BEGIN SCENE

>EXT: STREET. A wagon heads toward Ponyville’s newest beverage establishment, THE JUICE STAR!
>INT: JUICE STAR – CONFERENCE ROOM. Eight mothponies sit around a floral-design conference table. A smallish mothpony is speaking to the assembled others

>Tag: “Until the juicing machines are fully operational, we are vulnerable. The Orchard Alliance is too well-equipped! They’re tougher competition than you realize.”

>A bitter-looking older mothpony vibrates his wings in agitation

>Mothi: “Dangerous to your mixes, maybe, but not to our patented technique!”

>Tag: “The Orchards will continue to cut into our profits as long as your patents are held up at-“

>Suddenly all heads turn as Tag’s speech is cut short and Grand Moth Fluttarkin, the president of the new startup, enters. He is followed by his longtime business partner and the only unicorn of the lot, Dark Flavor. The whole board stands before the thin, gaunt-looking president as he takes his place at the head of the table. The unicorn stands behind him.

>Fluttarkin: "The Patent Office will no longer be of any concern to us. I’ve just received word that Saturnia has approved all our applications. The last remnants of the old-fashioned juicemaking have been swept away."

>Tag: “That’s impossible! How could they have been approved so fast?!”

>Fluttarkin: “It doesn’t matter. We now have direct control over our new juicing system. Technology will keep our profits ahead of the competition. The technology at the heart of our novel smoothie machines.”

>Tag: “And what of the Orchards? If they’ve been able to refine their hidden formula plan, they could distribute and exploit it."

>Dark Flavor: "The plans you refer to will soon be in our hands."

>Mothi: "Any attempts made by the Orchards against our business would be a useless gesture, no matter what technical data they’ve obtained! We are now at the forefront of the juicebar business scene! I suggest we get to work!"

>Dark Flavor: “Don’t be too proud of your business strategies. The ability to dominate a market is insignificant next to the power of magical flavors.”

>Mothi: “Don’t try to frighten me with your unicorn ways, Dark. Your sad devotion to the magic of gustation has not helped you build our machines, or given you clairovoyance enough to ascertain the Orchard’s-“

>Mothi starts to squeak in alarm and vibrate his wings quickly as Flavor’s horn glows an eerie shade of purple

>Dark Flavor: “I find your lack of taste disturbing”

>Fluttarkin: “Enough! Flavor, leave him alone!”

>Dark Flavor: “As you wish”

>Fluttarkin: “This bickering is pointless. Dark Flavor will be able to formulate the Orchard’s secret recipes by the time we’re ready for our grand opening. Then we will crush the Orchards within one swift business quarter.”
