As a preamble, I acknowledge this might not be the best content for this subreddit. And I apologize in advance for any subjectivity you'll find. However, I ask readers and the mods to at least give me a chance.

I've always been saddened in the past to see people link to Neogaf, even for basic news, as I've believed it has the single most toxic community in gaming for quite a while now. But as of today, it appears the site's far more disgusting true nature has finally breached its facade.

It started when someone on Facebook, as part of the #MeToo hashtag campaign, [posted her own personal story.](https://i.imgur.com/7TkEM4L.jpg) At the end she [namedrops one Evilore, real name Tyler Malka, as her would be rapist.](https://i.imgur.com/bdhbJD0.jpg) Evilore is Neogaf's owner. I won't go into it but some people have done the research and the evidence is more than stacked in favor of this woman's story.

Now why would people tolerate this? Because they were banned and erased (as in, accounts obliterated as if they never existed) the moment such issues were brought up. [This continues up till today](https://twitter.com/HUELEN10/status/921238932691369984). It is only now that too many people have [brought up his questionable past](https://archive.fo/ZwGq2) that things are being taken seriously.

In that last link you might also see some mentions of rape apologists such as hbomberguy and Amirox. A highly regarded member of the community, but also a pedophile ex-mod, Amirox was caught by the police a few months back. [Neogaf admins were quick to deny any past association or knowledge of him](https://i.imgur.com/ggCVuOi.png) despite him being rather high profile and publicly sharing his name when asking for donations, which the site's owner, Evilore, eagerly gave to. He is only one of the many examples of the vile kinds of people Neogaf secretly shielded but tried to sweep under the rug once they were exposed, such as previous pedophile mod Opiate or racist instigators such as Bishoptl.

Keep in mind, Neogaf, under its a guise as a gaming community, is also extremely politically oriented in a certain direction. [We're talking top 5 referals to a US Democratic presidential candidate](https://archive.fo/NM38I) here. Despite this, the community as a whole has hounded and harassed people for much less, such as Last Night's devs making the wrong kind of tweets 4 years ago, developers not removing certain content(A Hat in Time, Blue Reflection) from their games, or the absolute insanity that is the Palmer Luckey scandal (stalking and doxing his girlfriend along with web tabloid Gizmodo). All condoned or encouraged by site administration. The fact is, whatever gaming community this site may have fostered in years past has slowly evaporated over time.

Now mods are abandoning ship left and right, admins are quitting, databases are being torched, [and a](https://archive.fo/sPBgX) [public statement](https://archive.fo/wxgYE) is [being prepared](https://www.gamespot.com/forums/offtopic-discussion-314159273/neogaf-owner-now-accused-of-sexual-abuse-statement-33411588/). This has been a powderkeg waiting to go off for a long time.

So, as a conclusion, please grab whatever friends you can, steer them clear from this place, and find somewhere else for your news and communities.
