- Septerra Core Speedrun - BEARDYduck
- --------------------
- Potential timing:
- - Start timer on movement in Uncle's House.
- - End timer on final hit on Doskias (When the victory sound clip plays) OR when the battle results screen pops up (EXP gained, etc.)
- --------------------
- Pre-run setup:
- - Steam version of Septerra Core
- - The Steam version is set to 1.02 by default, whereas the GOG version is 1.04. Haven't tested out the differences yet because I don't own the GOG version.
- - Patched to 1.04 (http://www.patches-scrolls.com/dl.php?file=septerra104.zip)
- - Makes the game playable on modern OS
- - Patched to 1.04a (http://www.patches-scrolls.com/dl.php?file=sc_patch_2012.zip)
- - Windowed mode
- - Disabled all movies (Renamed all avi files in main game directory by adding a 1 at the end of the name)
- - Running it in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP2. (Only if necessary)
- - Reduced color mode (16-bit) to fix FPS issues. (Only if necessary)
- --------------------
- Speedtech (so far):
- - Most fights appear to be skippable.
- - XP gain from fights is negligible, most XP gained from boss fights.
- - Every mob and/or group has a certain radius around their model that triggers combat when the player steps inside of it
- - Level 2 (or 4 on the numpad) attacks are going to be the most used attacks. Best value/time ratio.
- - Level 2 fate cards also seem to be the best bang for buck value.
- - For summons, maybe level 2 element + level 1 summon??
- - Grubb is awful because he does very little damage. (Led is pretty much an upgraded version of Grubb with a slightly weaker Repair skill.)
- - Runner is semi-awful because although he does a large amount of damage, he's super slow and his attack animation is long. (Araym is a better, faster version of Runner.)
- - Feeding all the birds to open up the Tower may be the fastest way to beat the game, as the Tower contains the strongest weapons and armor in the game. (Have to see if it's faster to feed all the birds, or to just buy the best possible equipment at stores before final battle.)
- - After killing the pirates in Shell 5 halfway through the game, head to the Ankara Research Lab.
- - At the crossroad head northwest and grab the Sturdy Heart off the desk with the dismantled missile.
- - Exit the map and repeat for a large number of Sturdy Hearts to sell for gold.
- --------------------
- Boss Tech:
- - Sonic Lava Boss
- - Water + Summon Fate cards = Summons Sedna and Pilitak
- - 2 meters Water + 1 meter Summon ~~ 55 damage
- --------------------
