<WindStrike> *Last time on ZURPG! You encountered the famed Zant, the guy behind the talking stones! He kinda surrounded you guys with a hostage situation and with three Twilightrobes, so he got to demand whatever he wanted. Despite this, Dex, you went into Spirit Form and took out one of the Twilightrobes by..... bottling it.
<Dex> Bottling things has worked very well for me so far.
<WindStrike> *Zant then proceeded to ask you on a mission, for which the reward was several Twilight Fairies. He gave you one in advance, and you accepted the journey to the base of the Interlopers, a land of darkness incarnate. One could say it's... darker than black, here.

<DM> *Dex, after what feels like weeks being hurled through a portal of darkness, you finally land in a land of actual darkness. Despite your dark vision, looking around, the environment itself is just..... darkness. No sky, no horizon... the only semblance of a floor is, a faint ripple of light emanates from each step you take.
<DM> *You can see yourself, and you appear to be a..... stuffed pig.
<DM> *You recall back when Zuph was talking about the Interloper base, there's something there than automatically transforms those who enter it. Thinking back on it..... you're essentially polymorph'd.
<DM> *It's akin to the polymorph from your Bag of Tricks, actually.
<DM> *Though, Zant sent you here cause your Spirit Form supposedly might be immune to this. Wanna try it out?
* Dex tries out his Spirit Form.
<DM> *Your soul separates from its stuffed pig form, your physical body now laying on the ground, stuffed like the pig it is- I mean uhhh...
* Dex looks around.
<DM> *Looking around, you now see.... some semblance of light on the horizon. In one direction, there's a gathering of several lights. Scattered in multiple directions on the way over, there appear to be single but closer lights.
<DM> *... doesn't seem to be much else here.
* Dex moves towards the closest single light.
<DM> *You hover on over, and upon getting closer, said light doesn't seem to notice you. You see the silhouette of its physical form - a humanoid figure shrouded in darkness, with a pair of glowing, red eyes. Aka, your generic Interloper.
<DM> *Its soul is a black fire, only noticeable by the white shadows it's producing.
* Dex reaches out for the soul.
<DM> *Roll Sneak-Up or Stealth Strike, aka Courage or Wisdom, your choice.

<DM> [Whispers]: Another soul has tainted our realm!
<DM> [Whispers]: The Betrayer, Zant, is on the move.
<DM> [Whispers]: The one with the red cloak is still not been seen, yet we know he's here, in the Twilight Realm...
<DM> [Whispers]: If I find that small lizard, I'm gutting him!
<DM> [Whispers]: Or is a gray cloak?
<DM> *You recognize the quote on the "small lizard", a particularly agitated voice by one Interloper you know as Death Sword. Huh.
<DM> *It's like a collective of different thoughts from different Interlopers. Whatever one thinks or does, it transfers to all of them in the network. Though, trying to focus on all of them at once is starting to overload your mind. Are there any messages in particular (a topic) you want to focus on?
<Dex> lets focus on the other soul tainting the realm
<DM> *Now that your soul is aligned, you will now hear all Interloper messages about that "other soul"...
<DM> *This will happen over time, so gradually throughout the session.
<DM> *Actually, as long as you're in the Twilight Realm, you'll continue to be aligned towards that topic. If you don't hear from that topic for a while, just poke DM for any news.
<DM> [Tainted Soul News]: He's going after the Golden Shadow Beast again. Hmph, no Twili or even us Interlopers ever achieved that one.
<DM> *You recall Zant mentioning something about the Golden Shield. Something he's tried going for several times but failed each time.
<DM> [Tainted Soul News]: It's the one with that red hair, yes?
<DM> [Tainted Soul News]: The red hair and that demonic smile. Smells of Majora.
<DM> *The Interloper you're interfacing with starts to move. Towards another separated light.
* Dex releases the soul.
* Dex moves towards the group of lights.
<DM> *You stop interfacing with it, and head on over towards the group.
<DM> *You float along quietly, through a land where you hear nothing. It's like a DM's playground here, except instead of anything happening, it's like nothing could ever happen. It's the incarnation of writer's block!
<DM> *As you travel over, other bit over the news feed...
<DM> [Tainted Soul News]: He ran into the Betrayer and ran away. The Golden Shadow Beast continues to reign free!

<DM> [Voice]: An Eyegouger? Why, haven't seen one of these in quite some time. It'd be nice if I could Eyegouge something with it.
<DM> [Voice]: What are you doing here, anyways? Why galavant through the land of darkness when you could be eyegouging something?
<DM> *Whatever it is, you can't see this thing...
<DM> [Voice]: Ooh, you should eyegouge your teammates! That Sheikah looks gougeable. Or that furry guy. Or the dead fishguy- oh, I think he died again. Just momentarily.
<Dex> Oh, well you know how it is. One second you're up and about kicking ass and taking eyes and the next you've fallen into some portal into a weird alternate world.
<DM> [Voice]: Sounds like a link to another world. Or... a link between worlds? What could be linking them?
<DM> *As far as you can tell, the only thing around you is nothing but yourself.
* Dex lights up his Soul Lantern
<DM> *The teal light flickers, and it doesn't bring light to anything around you. Though, you do notice your own soul flickering in response slightly...
<DM> [Voice]: Ooh, a Poe Lantern! Haven't used one in a long time myself.
<DM> [Voice]: I much prefer a sword and shield. Or, whatever my opponent is using. It's always fun to beat them with their own arsenal.
* Dex lights up his Magic Candle.
<DM> *The light shockwaves outwards, and as it passes through you, you notice a second soul seemingly overlaying with your own. The light passes and fades to nothing, and your soul returns to just being your soul... with a slight flicker.
* Dex grabs at where the second soul seemed to be.
<DM> *You grab yourself.
<DM> *You feel the resistance of both yourself... and something else.
* Dex pulls?
<DM> *You pull your own leg.
<DM> *... You've pulled your own leg.
<DM> *Congrats.
<DM> [Voice]: Looks like you need to get a leg up on the situation.
<DM> [Voice]: Grabbing at me like that won't do you any good. Afterall, it's just me.
<DM> [Voice]: Or you.
<Dex> Naw. Can't be me. I know me and you aren't me.
<DM> *PERSONAAAA- wait wrong game
<DM> [Voice]: So, what are you doing in this realm? All alone and in the dark?
<DM> [Voice]: Or, well... almost alone. Save for me. You could say I'm your.... Dark self. Dark Dex. How's that sound?
<Dex> Not sure really. But I'm and Eyegouger and this is pretty much what we're for.
<Dex> Pfft really? Dark Dex? Buddy *I* am Dark Dex.
<DM> [Voice]: Is that... so?
<Dex> If you were really me you'd know that.
<DM> *You feel your soul rumble just slightly.
<DM> [Voice]: Huh. I guess I just need to know you better.
<DM> [Voice]: Tell you what. I'll go back with-. .........
<Dex> Whoa whoa now. Hold on.
<Dex> I'm not saying you can't hang around. I'm just saying drop the act.
<DM> *You hear a surge of Interloper whispers..... presumably from being interfaced with one currently.
<DM> [Whispers]: The Great Spirit is down!
<DM> [Whispers]: The Sol Fountain will be ours shortly!
<Dex> Good thing I'm already used to voices in my head.
<DM> [Whispers]: Perhaps our great leader could be here to personally oversee this...
<DM> [Voice]: Hmm, seems some underlings are calling me over.
<DM> [Voice]: What about it? Would you like to come with me? Oversee the fall of the Twili?
<Dex> I'm not really a fall of things kind of guy.
<DM> [Voice]: Fine. What about the Rise of the Interlopers?
<Dex> What's wrong with the Twili anyway?
<Dex> I'm not from around here so fill me in.
<DM> [Voice]: What's wrong with them? Well, let me tell you a story...
<DM> *INSERT LENGTHY EXPOSITION HERE- okay, nutshelling this.
<Dex> Gimme the cliffnotes version.
<DM> [Voice]: This is OUR realm! It was created by our god, the Fierce Deity, specifically just for us! And yet, those fake beings, those Twili... they ended up trying to live here, with us. Demanding a place in the realm, just for them!
<DM> [Voice]: And now they demand we leave the Twilight Realm? NONSENSE! They will be eradicated from OUR realm!
<Dex> And? I'm not seeing why that's such a big deal. I DO see some great commercial oppertunities though.
<DM> *In other words, generic villain with generic territorial backstory.
<Dex> Well why does anyone have to leave? Can't you guys just chill out together?
<DM> [Voice]: Chill.... out?
<DM> *His voice switches from rage to confusion.
<Dex> You know relax and get along. You both have a lot in common.
<Dex> You both hate Zant for example.
<Dex> exZANTple?
<DM> [Voice]: Of course. The Betrayer betrays all that-
<DM> *His voice cracks at your pun.
<Dex> Well if you guys would put aside your differences and work together you could ice Zant no problem.
<DM> *You notice his soul actually flickers out of alignment with your soul for that instant as well.
<DM> [Voice]: Well..... we do both worship the Fierce Deity. ...
<DM> [Voice]: And then what?
<Dex> That's a start see.
<DM> [Voice]: Magically dissolve all manner of conflict over hundreds and hundreds of years?
<Dex> Well no but peace has to start somewhere.
<DM> [Voice]: The Twili do not trust us. At all. We are known for our deceit. Any attempts at us making peace would surely end in violence.
<Dex> Not if you work at it.
<Dex> It wouldn't be easy I admit but I bet it would be easier than more and more and more and more fighting.
<Dex> Endless, pointless fighting.
<DM> [Voice]: Fine. You want proof? I'll personally take you to the Sol Fountain, and you can help me work out a deal with Xanas. How does that sound?
<Dex> That sounds great.
<Dex> Plus look here I am trusting you, yeah.
<DM> [Voice]: ...............
<DM> *There's a looooooong silence.
<DM> [Voice]: ....... Yes. I am trusting you.
<DM> [Voice]: Now, if you'd wander on over to your body over there...
<Dex> Right.
* Dex wanders over to his body over there.
<DM> [Voice]: Allow me to separate from your soul...
<Dex> You can hang around if you want. Just try not to argue with the other voices.
<DM> [Voice]: The other... what?
<DM> *You see your soul visibly distort and then split into two. One is you...... and the other is you, a perfect copy, albeit a bit dark.
<Dex> Hey, not bad.
<Dex> And yeah, I have a few different voices in my head. I think the others think I'm a bit off because of it.
<DM> *The other soul forms a physical form, one that ends up being a dark version of you. Well, initially. A moment later, it morphs again, this time mimicking a certain Hero of Legend, complete in dark clothes and red eyes.
<DM> [Voice]: ... I don't know whether to praise you or be worried.
<DM> *He bows slightly in your presence.
* Dex bows in return.
<Dex> I get that a lot.
<DM> [Voice]: Ah, I haven't introduced myself. Call me Dark Link. It's my usual... form.
<DM> [Dark Link]: Now, let us get going...
<Dex> Well Mr. Dark Link, Dex Eyegouger at your service.
<Dex> Lead the way.
<DM> *He speaks an incantation.
<DM> [Dark Link]: Aeternal Darkness
<DM> *Odd, you recall Bloodwind supposedly has used that exact incantation before. Weird.
<DM> *A moment later, and the darkness around you intensifies. The lights that were scattered through this realm all appear around you, about half a dozen more Interlopers. You feel a rush of wind surround you, overwhelming your hearing.
<DM> *You feel a bit faint- ...... well, let's see.
<DM> *Roll your Current Hearts.
<Dex> $15d10
<Navi> Dex: You rolled 15 Dice with 10 Sides. Results: 10, 7, 4, 1, 9, 8, 2, 8, 5, 10, 4, 3, 1, 1 and 10. Total: 83. Successes: 11.
<DM> *You feel a bit faint, but it passes quickly. Your senses start to reorient themselves...
<Dex> Woah, bleh, I'll never get used to travelling around this place.
<DM> *You find yourself in a land of light, blinding you initially. As the blindness fades, you see there's a large pool of light, emitting floating Sols like a slow, reverse rain. A great spirit of light lays prone inside the fountain, chained by... well, chains. Chains of darkness. Around the fountain, you see roughly 30 Twili, half of which are injured and prone, surrounded by a group of Interlopers, along with a massive Dark Mass.
<DM> *As in, you remember that Dark Mass from the Sheikah quest? That, except multiply its size by about 10. So about 100 times your..... wait, you're small. About 200 times your size.
<Dex> Big.
<Dex> Hi?
<DM> *The Dark Mass... seems to turn in your direction? You're not sure, it's like a roaming tidal wave of darkness. It's..... always moving, yet still in place.
<Dex> Neat.
<DM> *Nearby, Dark Link takes his stand against that Twili you recognize as Xanas. His Gravity Hammer is broken in half and on the ground next to him.
<Dex> Hey there Xanas. Fancy seeing you here.
<DM> *The portal of darkness below you shrinks to a droplet before dissipating completely.
<DM> *Xanas turns, looking at you in half-glee and horror, then turning and seeing Dark Link, then turning back to you in complete horror.
<DM> [Xanas]: What the-
<Dex> How's it going?
<Dex> Not too good by the looks of things.
<DM> [Dark Link]: Ahh, Xanas, my favorite Twili! Well, I guess my last favorite was the one I possessed right before the Great Devastation happened 20 years ago, buuuut that one died and now it's in the past.
<DM> *Xanas stares back at you, kind of confused yet also pretty tired.
<DM> *Dark Link does a dramatic display of looking around.
<DM> [Dark Link]: Oh, it looks very good here, by the looks of things, my new friend!
<DM> *He turns to you, Dex.
<DM> [Dark Link]: Now, about the deal you were talking to me about. Why don't you try it here on Trusting Xanas the Trusting One?
<Dex> Sure.
* Dex clears his throat. Ahem.
<DM> [Xanas]: I always knew you were sketchy... but this...
<Dex> Xanas I have a suggestion for you. Ally with the Interlopers.
<DM> *Dark Link's smile widens.
<DM> [Xanas]: What?!
<DM> *You almost see a crack form in Xanas' glossy golden pupil-less eyes.
<Dex> Surprising yes?
<DM> [Xanas]: ALLY? You call that SURPRISING?!
<Dex> Stupid? No.
<DM> [Xanas]: This is SUBMISSION, not ALLYING!
<DM> [Dark Link]: Oh, but it would be an alliance!
<Dex> No it would be allying. Equal for both sides.
<Dex> I'm here to negotiate to make sure its as fair as possible.
<DM> [Xanas]: ... as I have no other choice right now... I'm listening. Go on.
<Dex> Look you both love the Fierce Deity and you both hate Zant.
<DM> [Dark Link]: Very much so.
<DM> [Xanas]: .................. true.
<Dex> So first of all there's some common ground right there yeah.
<DM> [Xanas]: Yes, and while you're at it, anyone you fight stands on the same ground. That means **nothing**.
<DM> [Dark Link]: What if your opponent is flying?
<DM> [Xanas]: Shut it, you.
<DM> [Dark Link]: Last I checked, Xanas, I have the high ground.
<Dex> It means something. Enemy of my enemy and all that.
<DM> *He points to the surrounding scene of the Interlopers' victory.
<Dex> Plus the only real issue you guys seem to have is over the realm. I don't see why you guys can't share.
<DM> [Xanas]: ..... share?
<Dex> All you do is fight and fight and fight.
<DM> [Dark Link]: Yes. Sharing is caring!
<DM> [Xanas]: You want SHARING? NOW? After all the damage you did?!
<DM> [Dark Link]: Well... we have to start somewhere!
<DM> *Dark Link smiles innocently with those glowing red eyes. Everything about this is completely and totally innocent.
<Dex> And you could be in on the ground floor.
<Dex> Of course it wouldn't be easy. That's a given.
<Dex> But in the long run I think it would be worth it. No more warring and no more Zant.
<DM> [Dark Link]: Mutually beneficial! We can even get our revenge on the Light World together, you and I!
<Dex> Yeah ok. We can work on THAT issue later. One thing at a time.
<DM> [Dark Link]: Combine our Twilight Mirror Fragments, and the Twilight Mirror will be complete once more! Both of us can freely invade the Light World!
<DM> [Xanas]: You idiot, THAT'S WHAT NEARLY BLEW US UP LAST TIME!
<DM> [Dark Link]: Well... we can kill the Goddesses this time, it's no big deal really.
<Dex> I hate to be the bearer of bad news but they're already gone.
<Dex> They left
<DM> [Dark Link]: No Goddesses, no extinction level explosions. As the little one says, one thing at a time.
<Dex> Took a powder.
<DM> [Dark Link]: Gone?
<DM> [Xanas]: No Goddesses? What?
<DM> [Xanas]: Explain, lizard.
<Dex> Yeah like they left. They made the Light World and left.
<DM> [Dark Link]: Oooookay. Then......
<DM> *Dark Link points to the great spirit of light inside the fountain.
<Dex> That's not a Goddess.
<Dex> That's a spirit of light.
<Dex> ALSO I need that spirit of light.
<DM> *It appears to be a great golden goat, made entirely of light, with its horns meeting to form a halo.
<DM> [Dark Link]: That thing was sent by the Goddesses 20 years ago to eradicate this realm. You're telling me the Light World was made 20 years ago?
<Dex> And anyway I don't know why light and dark need to fight anyway. Two sides of the same coin and all that jazz.
<Dex> To be fair I might have my mythology mixed up.
<DM> [Dark Link]: Indeed.
<DM> [Dark Link]: You're so right. We don't need to fight, Xanas. We just need to work together to fix our problems! So, what's a problem you have currently?
<Dex> I'm pretty sure the legend is that they made the world and left and then that made the Triforce and then Ganon and all that stuff happend.
<Dex> His hammer is broken that's probably a problem.
<Dex> And he looks kind of beat up.
<DM> [Xanas]: A problem I have currently? How about that you just killed some of my forces, my own friends, and now you have us currently captive?
<Dex> I advise releasing them.
<DM> [Dark Link]: Uhh, don't think we can bring your friends back to life. But, we can let off the latter. Though, we have a problem, too. Care to hear us out?
<DM> [Dark Link]: You have two pieces of the Twilight Mirror. We have one. Perhaps you could bring the other two here and join them together-
<DM> [Xanas]: Absolutely not.
<Dex> Let's worry about the mirror later yeah?
<Dex> Zant now other not Zant related things later.
<DM> [Dark Link]: Zant is a mere nuisance in our plans.
<Dex> Zant is nooooot.
<DM> [Xanas]: Zant can go suck it.
<Dex> Zant is doing much bad things.
<Dex> He wants something from Midna.
<DM> [Dark Link]: Bad things? That sounds good for us. Why, he almost sounds like an ally.

<Dex> I was supposed to get information on Interlopers and maybe try assassinate you.
<Dex> And also Xanas if I could manage it.
<DM> [Dark Link]: Pffft. If he really wanted me dead, we would've tried to do that to me a while back. As if.
<DM> [Xanas]: Some king he wants to be. Kill his own subjects? To heck with him.
<DM> [Xanas]: I no reason to continue listening to this drivel.
<Dex> I know you guys aren't familiar with Lightworlders and I know I'm kinda small but you guys are aware of how many very large and very strong things I've killed aren't you?
<DM> *I have no reason
<DM> [Xanas]: And yet we threw you into a prison without too much effort, yes?
<Dex> I'd say like 20 on 1 odds are kind of unfair.
<Dex> And we broke out of it.
<Dex> And I stole your weird force field thing.

<DM> [Dark Link]: See? I've tried to cooperate. I've even offered cooperative annihilation of the light world. They just won't listen to the words of peace.
<Dex> I need you to both understand I'm trying to do this diplomatically.
<DM> [Dark Link]: Such a violent species the Twili are.

<Dex> Look Zant is bad news. He's bad for you guys and he's bad for my world.
<Dex> Trust me on this. If Zant isn't dealt with he WILL get stronger and he WILL get worse.
<DM> [Dark Link]: I really could care less about Zant. If anything, I'm more worried about that... what'd he call himself again? A Mask Man?
<Dex> I don't know what his deal is but I think he's connected to Zant.
<DM> [Dark Link]: Someone that can freely move between our realm and the Light World.
<DM> [Dark Link]: How so?
<Dex> THIS IS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT BY THE WAYYYYY
<Dex> Cause the masked dude attacked us with a shadow beast.
<Dex> By us I mean me and my henchmen.

<DM> [Xanas]: .. Zant controls Shadow Beasts.
<DM> [Dark Link]: Oooooooooooh? Is this so?
<DM> [Dark Link]: Seeeeeeee Xanas? We have mutual enemies!
<DM> [Dark Link]: You know what, add another thing to that list, we also don't like Shadow Beasts, isn't that right?
<Dex> I've seen enough of this to know that stuff like this is almost ALWAYS interconnected.
<DM> [Xanas]: .........
<Dex> I'd bet Zant is working for the Mask man or vice versa.
<DM> [Dark Link]: That would be bad for us. And bad for you, Xanas.
<DM> [Dark Link]: Bad for all of you Twili.
<Dex> Also hey check it out. I bottled a Twilightrobe soul. I got it when Zant was talking to my henchmen.
* Dex pulls out the bottle and shakes it around then puts it away.
<DM> [Dark Link]: Isn't that... Twili food? Correct me if I'm wrong, but... didn't Twili used to eat those straight?
<DM> [Xanas]: ... back when they were more in abundance, yes.
<Dex> They don't taste that great let me tell you.
<DM> [Dark Link]: They really don't. But hey, they're not hard to find. Not hard for us to find, anyways. How about we add that for free, Xanas?
<DM> [Dark Link]: Your release AND a lifetime supply of Twilightrobe food?
