  30. Docudrama following events at Dunkirk in May and June
  31. 1940. The Allies in northern France are in retreat, but the
  32. Navy only expects to be able to pick up a few soldiers
  33. and Churchill is under pressure to make peace in order to
  34. save the rest. Alf Tombs's unit helps hold open a corridor
  35. to aid the retreat, succesfully allowing thousands to
  36. escape over 48 hours; on the beaches Captain Tennant
  37. makes use of a flimsy pier to speed the evacuation. As
  38. the weather changes the pier and the beaches are
  39. bombed heavily.
