- [16:05] <@Kilarra> *****Second Darkness*****
- [16:05] <@Kilarra> Some things are best left forgotten. Terrible atrocities, grim sacrifices, and cataclysmic reckonings are no strangers to the annals of history, yet while those who survive such events can never hope to forget, later generations do so in the vain hope that with ignorance comes salvation. Unfortunately, among long-lived races, there are always those who remember. A grudge harbored through centuries grows in strength, waiting for a chan
- [16:05] <@Kilarra> in strength, waiting for a chance to settle its ancient debt.
- [16:06] <@Kilarra> Many horrific chapters have thus been entered and later scrubbed from Golarion’s history as a result of such malice, but none more terrible than the Age of Darkness.
- [16:06] <@Kilarra> ~~~Chapter 3: The Armageddon Echo~~~
- [16:06] <@Kilarra> \Part 1: The Path into Peril/
- [16:07] <@Kilarra> -Session 32-
- [16:12] <@Kilarra> The morning after the Party's return from Devil's Elbow has them waking up at the rooms provided to them at the Gold Goblin Gambling Hall by their benefactors Daroskt and Katarina. Daroskt is busy getting a breakfast ready, while Katarina is keeping the Goblin closed well into the morning in the interest of having a proper discussion with the party about what they experienced on Devil's Elbow.
- [16:13] <@Kilarra> Kwava, elf ranger of the SHin'Rakorath is also present for breakfast, having a greater stake in the drow issue than most.
- [16:17] * Kilarra wakes up after sleeping in a bit, having thoroughly and deliberatley exhausted herself the night before to make up for three days of not getting any action.
- [16:17] * Aluthyra is up early, already finished with her meditation. She walks into the dining area, greeting the elf with a customary bow of her head as she sits in wait for her other companions.
- [16:18] * Kilarra goes about her morning devotions as per usual
- [16:21] <@Kilarra> Kjell makes his way to the bar area to dine with the others, taking out his spellbook to prepare for the day as he eats. He's added a couple new entries since their return to Riddleport, and seems pleased.
- [16:25] <Aluthyra> Tognik is up surprisingly early along with the others, wanting something to eat! He greets Kjell on his way in with a wave.
- [16:25] <@Kilarra> KJell smiles to his little buddy and passes him some breakfast.
- [16:25] <@Kilarra> Katarina comes back to the table after locking up and seats herself next to Daroskt, having provided Chip with his own bowl.
- [16:28] * Kilarra joins the group afterwards, slightly disappointed that her breakfast has gotten cold. However, she couldn't exactly do her morning devotions in front of everyone. Well, she -could-, but they would bitch about it.
- [16:32] * Aluthyra finishes her breakfast, sighing happily. It was very pleasant, and not at all like the meager portions she is used to.
- [16:33] <@Kilarra> Once breakfast has been finished, Daroskt clears away the dishes, setting them aside to wash later, then seats himself again.
- [16:34] <@Kilarra> Kwava, now that breakfast was finished, speaks up, "So, I imagine you know what we all wish to ask of you. What did you find on Devil's Elbow?"
- [16:35] * Kilarra figured that was coming and pulls out Shorafa's journal, tossing it to Kwava. "Drow, and a fair number of them. This journal details records of the events surrounding the Starfall, their plans, expectations, and intentions."
- [16:35] <@Kilarra> *Shindiira's
- [16:38] * Aluthyra nods, and asks, "Do you believe you will still need our services, assuming the drow still need to be dealt with?"
- [16:39] <@Kilarra> Kwava observes the journal, picking it up and flipping through it. "I am not presently able to read it. Would you mind being more specific about the contents?"
- [16:40] * Kilarra shrugs, then continues, "Well, aside from detailed recordings of the events leading up to the Starfall, such as the blot and black hail, Shindiira here was planning on using the skymetal and the creatures that came with it to move up the ranks of the drow Hierarchy. That suggests we're slowly making our way up the ladder of their authority."
- [16:44] * Kilarra goes on, "Apparently they were hoping to put whatever they got away from the island with to use in Celwynvian." She pulls out the map of the area wit hthe drow encampments marked. "I imagine your Shinwhatsits will find this useful. As well, there's a lot in here about something called 'The Armageddon Echo'. Best I can tell, it's either an event of their past, or some kind of stronghold."
- [16:47] <@Kilarra> Kwava pauses for a moment to gather his thoughts, a deep furrow worn into his brow. “These are grave tidings. When you discovered Vancaskerkin was working with one of the dark elves, I could hardly believe it. Now I realize there are far more terrible events in motion. If the drow have learned how to pull stars from the sky, none of us are safe."
- [16:48] * Aluthyra stays silent, seeing as Kilarra seems to have everything handled.
- [16:49] <@Kilarra> Katarina takes hold of Daroskt's hand, looking a littler nervous about the implications of weaponized starfalls
- [16:49] <Aluthyra> Tognik jests that if the drow pull down more stars, at least he can get more metal. He quickly berates himself, people dying for metal is bad, after all.
- [16:49] <Aluthyra> Tognik did this internally, of course.
- [16:50] <Aluthyra> Othewise those present might get angry at his attitude.
- [16:50] <Aluthyra> Otherwise*
- [16:51] <@Kilarra> “I must ask a great favor of you. My employers, the Shin’Rakorath, have only recently revealed to me the full extent of the drow menace in Celwynvian. As much as I would dearly love to see the city, they have ordered me to remain in the Riddleport hinterlands to keep watch for any further drow influence. Yet they have also expressed interest in hearing from you directly. This journal you found, combined with the one recovered some
- [16:52] <@Kilarra> -Vancaskerkin’s drow accomplice, would be of great use to my kin in the Mierani Forest. The Shin’Rakorath and I ask you to carry these journals to Crying Leaf, a small camp in the eastern reaches of the wood. Take it to Eviana, the leader of Crying Leaf. She will know what to do.”
- [16:53] * Aluthyra nods to the elf, then looks to Kilarra. "I assume you still wish us to accompany you?"
- [17:00] * Kilarra nods, "Naturally. Working my way through this drow problem will be a start towards some... other stuff I need to do. Not to mention I can't exactly let them get away with this kind of thing. I may not be the nicest person you'll ever meet, but I have as much stake in this as anyone else, and am in a position to do something about it."
- [17:01] <@Kilarra> Kjell smiles, "This drow menace is certainly one I would dedicate my sword against." He looks to Tyrant's bane, "Well, they're not exactly tyrannical yet, but do you really think that makes a big difference given what they're planning?"
- [17:02] <Aluthyra> Tognik chuckles. "Doesn't seem to matter, no. And I'll still stick around, for the good of Golarion..." He grins. "More exciting adventures doesn't hurt either."
- [17:03] * Aluthyra nods. "I shall accompany you as well."
- [17:04] <@Kilarra> Kwava nods, "Excellent. As I said, I will be staying here to keep abs on the Riddleport hinterlands. If you could make haste, I and my kind would be most appreciative, but you should see to it that any remaining business you have in town is settled before you depart."
- [17:05] * Aluthyra blinks. "Right. I have something to attend to, if that is all." She stands, waiting to see if they were yet done.
- [17:10] <@Kilarra> Kwava nods and rolls the map back up, passing it to Kilarra
- [17:10] * Kilarra slips it back into the tube and slips it into her packs, "What have you got goin' on Aluthyra?"
- [17:13] * Aluthyra nods, just about as she is about to leave, "Shorafa offered to help with what we were discussing earlier."
- [17:19] * Kilarra blinks, "Oh, neat. What's she gonna do?"
- [17:27] * Aluthyra shrugs. "A spell of some sort to narrow down the possibilities."
- [17:30] * Kilarra nods, "Mind if I come with? I've been curious about it since I met you."
- [17:31] * Aluthyra nods and smiles. "I would not mind."
- [17:31] <@Kilarra> Before the party can depart however, a knock comes on the door.
- [17:32] <@Kilarra> Katarina slips away and heads up to the door, opening. She smiles upon seeing the face of Samaritha, who has a package with her.
- [17:32] <@Kilarra> Samaritha steps inside. "Hello Katarina, nice to see you again. Are Kjell and the others here?"
- [17:32] <@Kilarra> Kjell smiles at the sight of Samaritha and comes up to the door, "We are indeed. How may we be of service?"
- [17:35] <@Kilarra> Samaritha shakes his head, "Quite the opposite actually. I came here with some gifts on behalf of the Cypherguild, on behalf of their appreciation for rescuing me and my companion."
- [17:37] <@Kilarra> Samaritha looks to the other three, "ONe for each of you."
- [17:39] * Aluthyra smiles, moving up to Samaritha. "Thank you."
- [17:39] <Aluthyra> Tognik hops off of his seat to collect his loot!
- [17:42] <@Kilarra> Samritha hands Tognik and Aluthyra each a Handy Haversack, "I noticed you had a bit of tendency to have Kjell carrying all of your extraneous posessions, so I felt these would help." She turns to Kjell and presents him, a little wobbly picking it up, an enchanted Breast Plate, "Considering your combat style, I felt your armour could do with some improvement."
- [17:43] * Aluthyra and Tognik smile, donning their new packs.
- [17:44] <@Kilarra> Kjell sets his armour aside. "I shall wear it with pride." He smiles warmly at the half-elf.
- [17:44] * Kilarra makes her way up. Did she get a present too?
- [17:45] * Aluthyra asks for Kilarra, "Do you have anything for Kilarra as well?" She raises an eyebrow. It would be rude to not present the cleric with a gift as well.
- [17:46] <@Kilarra> Samaritha nods and pulls out the last item in her parcel. It was amulet similar to those worn by Kjell and now Tognik. "This will help protect you in the future, hopefully better than you were against that wraith."
- [17:47] * Kilarra smirks, that'd do nicely. She appreciates even more that they hade enchanted a holy symbol to serve the purpose, rather than giving her some generic variant.
- [17:48] <@Kilarra> *had
- [17:48] * Kilarra swaps it out for her existing one
- [17:49] <@Kilarra> Kjell smiles, "Your gifts are most appreciated, and I can assure you they will be put to good use."
- [17:50] * Aluthyra bows her head to Samaritha. "Thank you for the gifts." She nudges Kilarra. "Shall we go?"
- [17:50] <@Kilarra> Samaritha nods, "Feel free to pay me a visit any time you would like to continue our magic discussions."
- [17:50] <@Kilarra> Kjell smiles, "Of course." He then departs to make sure his new armour fit.
- [17:50] * Kilarra smiles, "Sure thing." She heads out the door.
- [17:51] * Aluthyra follows after Kilarra... to the Silken Veil.
- [17:51] * Kilarra quickly leads Aluthyra through town to the House of the SIlken Veil, slipping inside and heading up to the temple area. Shorafa is there waiting for them.
- [17:52] <@Kilarra> Shorafa smiles. "Good morning darlinks. I turst you slept vell?"
- [17:52] * Kilarra just smirks. SHe always slept well after a good romp.
- [17:52] * Aluthyra smiles to Shorafa. "I did, at least. Have you the questions to ask? "
- [17:53] <@Kilarra> Shorafa looks to Aluthyra, "Of course, I am prepared for the commune. I offer no apologies if you do not get the precise answers you seek, but I shall do what I can." She seats herself and burns some particularly expensive incense, as well as lighting a rather ornate oil lamp.
- [17:53] <@Kilarra> The aroma of the incense and oil is rather heavy, and quickly floods over the temple area
- [17:54] <@Kilarra> Shorafa seems to go into a trance. "Matron Calistria, I come to you seek answers." She opens her eyes, which are glowing white.
- [17:55] * Kilarra looks impressed. "Wow, you sprung for a full on commune? Ritzy."
- [17:55] * Aluthyra nods, and sits, hoping she would find the correct answers.
- [17:55] <@Kilarra> Shorafa looks intently focused. "Is Aluthyra, the woman who stands before me, touched by the blood of an outsider?"
- [17:55] <Aluthyra> Or the answers sought, rather.
- [17:56] <@Kilarra> "YES" comes a deep, succulent sounding female voice that seems to fill the entire room.
- [17:56] <@Kilarra> Shorafa continues, "Is that outsider a denizen of the plane of air?"
- [17:56] <@Kilarra> "NO"
- [17:57] <@Kilarra> Shorafa continues, undaunted. "Is that outsider a denizen of any elemental plane?"
- [17:57] <@Kilarra> "NO"
- [17:59] * Aluthyra frowns at the 'No' answers... hoping for a little more luck.
- [18:00] <@Kilarra> "Is that outsider a denizen of a higher plane?"
- [18:00] <@Kilarra> "YES"
- [18:00] <@Kilarra> Shorafa smiles a bit, they were making progress. "Is that denizen Celestial in nature?"
- [18:00] <@Kilarra> "YES"
- [18:02] <@Kilarra> Shorafa smiles, "Then, that being the case, that would make Aluthyra an Aasimar, correct?"
- [18:02] <@Kilarra> "YES"
- [18:07] * Kilarra looks upon ALuthyra, a little awed at the mention of Celestials. This woman really was something special
- [18:07] * Aluthyra blinks, quirking her head at that, and asks Shorafa, "If... that is it, what all would that entail? The heritage of a celestial?"
- [18:08] <@Kilarra> Shorafa smiles, "Nothing more than you wish to make of it, correct?"
- [18:08] <@Kilarra> "YES"
- [18:08] <@Kilarra> Shorafa smiles, "Your assistance has been most appreciated Calistria, we shall ask you no more." Her eyes stop glowing.
- [18:09] <@Kilarra> Shorafa looks to ALuthyra, "Now that we have that out of the way, perhaps I can shed some more specific light on what you must be wondering."
- [18:13] * Aluthyra nods. "That would be much appreciated."
- [18:16] <@Kilarra> Shorafa nods, "Now, for the obvious things. Aasimar are much like Tieflings, yet opposite. They possess a strong tie to blood that may be generations old, resurgent often when least expected. Whereas tieflings have their blood mingled with denizens of the lower planes, Aasimar come from 'higher' beings."
- [18:19] * Aluthyra blinks. "Interesting... perhaps I can find out whom I was birthed to with this... is there anything else that you would be able to tell me?"
- [18:20] <@Kilarra> Shorafa nods, "Specifically?"
- [18:24] * Aluthyra nods. "Is there any spell to find out more of my heritage and those that birthed me, such as another spell?"
- [18:30] <@Kilarra> Shorafa shakes her head, "Not that I know off hand."
- [18:33] * Aluthyra nods. "Thank you anyway. You have been of great assistance." She smiles to Kilarra. "If that is all, shall we leave?"
- [18:34] * Kilarra nods, remaining quiet for the moment
- [18:34] <@Kilarra> -End Session-
