  29. --Safety Pickups--
  30. General
  31. -I recommend grabbing a subtank or two over using a cyber elf. Sub tanks don't use all the energy at once when you use it in the Zero series so one sub tank heals close to 2 full health bars (Holds 30 HP. Zero has 16 by default) while elves are generally one time use.
  32.
  33. Zero 1:
  34. -All Sub tanks are obtained using an elf and generally not worth getting because they require too many crystals (1200 for one sub tank).
  35. -Nurse Elf in Second Stage (Heals 8). Destroy 5 pantheons. The 5th one drops the elf.
  36. -Nurse Elf in Destroy the Train (Heals 8). Before entering the door to the miniboss wall jump up the left wall. There is a health drop and and elf here.
  37. -Nurse Elf in Occupy Factory (Heals 8). In the air vent shortcut.
  38. -Nurse Elf in Rescue Colbor (Heals 8). At the start of the stage go left and enter a door.
  39. -Nurse Elf in Rescue Colbor (Heals 8). Beneath a platform that is followed by two falling blocks.
  40. -Nurse Elf in Rescure Colbor (Full Heal). Beneath a platform with a ladder above it. Right after the above elf.
  41. -Nurse Elf in Stop the Hacking (Full Heal). Dropped by one of the computers when you destroy it.
  42.
  43. Zero 2:
  44. -Sub Tank in Ourobockle: In the last section and just shorty before the crushing spikes. Requires either pulling a block or chaining across a pit of spikes.
  45. -Sub Tank in Burble: In the last section after the miniboss. Instead of climbing upwards at the start go forward towards a set of destroyable blocks. This subtank comes fairly late in the game and generally not worth getting.
  46.
  47. Zero 3:
  48. -Sub Tank in Mantisk: Just shortly after the miniboss and before taking the secret path. Requires using recoil to bounce off of a pantheon that appears out of a window to throw bombs. Fairly quick one to get.
  49. -Sub Tank in Haunmachine: Just shortly before the boss door. You can reach it by using recoil rod.
  50. -Safety Elf in Anubis: Rare instance where an elf is good. After the miniboss there is a set of pillars with a health drop and a disk. The disk contains an elf that heals you for 8 health.
  51.
  52. Zero 4:
  53. -Sub Tank in Mandrago: Just shortly after the first miniboss. Destroy the bottom part of the purple copter enemy, grab the handle and ride it up to the sub tank. This one is pretty quick to get and has a full health right after it that fills it up to max if you have full health.
  54. -Sub Tank in Fenri: Take the bottom path at the start and use Knuckle to grab a card key from a blue enemy. Take the card key to a door just shortly after the elevator after the miniboss. This sub tank takes more time to get and leaves you without Knuckle until you get the sub tank.
  55.
  56. --Version Differences--
  57. **Original GBA (Including Wii U VC)**
  58. Text: Obvious one but text is faster on japanese. There is only one instance of slower text affecting something and that's Z2 Ships stage. The slower text starts you with a worse ships placement so you'll have to delay the text a bit before mashing to get a good ships pattern.
  59.
  60. Zips: Exclusive to Z2. You can zip using the chain rod. This glitch only exists in the GBA-J version of the game. All other versions have the glitch patched (Including all versions of DS Collection). The glitch still works on VC-J.
  61.
  62. **DS Collection**
  63. Load Times: Load times are worse on Collection. This doesn't make much difference for games like Z1 which doesn't have too many instances of loading but for Z3 and 4 it's alot and it adds up fast.
  64.
  65. Lag: There is overall less lag on Collection. This is beneficial for Z1 which has the most lag of the 4 games but doesn't make much of a difference for 2-4 which have much less lag.
  66.
  67. --Options for playing on hardware--
  68. If none of this sounds appealing then emulator is best option.
  69.
  70. Game Boy Player: Preferred method but the biggest issue with playing on GBP is the controller. Default GCN controller is not good for MMZ and using a SNES to GCN adapter maps the buttons wrong (A+B instead of B+Y). A fix to this is to use Game Boy Interface if you have access to Wii Homebrew. GBi not only provides better image quality and less input delay but using Swiss (Homebrew launcher for GCN) you can change controls. If you don't want to install Swiss and have a raphnet SNES to GCN adapter you can use this instead (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3f8StEpx2OtbXBXQ1drTkRwOTA/view) by loading it onto a GCN memory card (Requires Wii Homebrew) and booting it using a save file exploit with Melee called Home Bros.
  71.
  72. DS: Technically an option if you have a capture card for one. It's a good option but the button issue that GBP has still exists and there's no real way to fix it.
  73.
  74. Wii U VC: The most accessible way to play the games on hardware. You can play Z1, 3 and 4 on this no problem but if you want to play Z2 on VC you'll need a japanese Wii U if you want to have zips.
