- Imagine the following:
- >Find an egg on your doorstep
- >Take it inside to get it out of the cold
- >Before you can call the daycare to take it off your hands, it hatches
- >A Ralts
- >You are immediately imprinted on
- What do you do?
- =====================================================================
- >You aren’t a trainer, so you’ve been treating her more like a daughter than anything else
- >She gets spooked easily, teleports next to you and hugs your ankle at the first sign of danger
- >You’ve almost been tripped about ten times by now
- >Can’t help but take her in your arms and comfort her
- >She evolves into a Kirlia one day
- >She’s a lot more outgoing now, always trying show you the new moves she learned to make you proud
- =====================================================================
- * Shit got interesting. Well it's time to make sure if it can use some sort of telekinesis properly, if its eager to try new things, it wouldn't be bad to try teach it some manners and shores, basic stuff... or die trying. A fucking dog can, a being that shares thoughts and feelings can also not only learn these things but be much much more.
- >You decide she’s old enough to help around the house
- >She doesn’t take too well to the idea at first, as a child would
- >But she changes her attitude on a dime once she realizes it’s an opportunity to show off her psychic talents
- >Your house couldn’t be cleaner, she’s a perfectionist
- >You often have to intervene to get her to stop
- >Doesn’t care for allowance, rather it makes her day when you pat her head and tell her she’s done a great job
- >You might be spoiling her in that regard, but you feel she’s done enough to deserve it
- >She follows you around everywhere
- >You’ve taken her to the market a few times
- >It’s subtle, but she still hides behind your legs whenever you pass a particularly large pokemon
- =====================================================================
- * it seems unfair that you'd make her clean the whole house with no reward though. Would you give her a room of her own?
- >Even though it seems she’s content just with your affection, you want to do something big for her
- >People often ask why she’s always outside of her pokeball, but truth be told, she doesn’t have one
- >Keeping your daughter in a pokeball seems hardly appropriate
- >You contact some friends and come up with a plan
- >You take Kirlia to the daycare one morning, telling her you’ll be back to come get her before the day is over
- >She’s very reluctant, but after a big hug, and a promise you’d never think of abandoning her, she follows the daycare woman into the building
- >You hurry home, meeting up with your friends
- >Together, you remove the old bed from the guest room and apply it in a fresh coat of paint.
- >A brand new bed is installed, along with a wardrobe and other bedroom necessities.
- >Poketoys and portraits of the two of you decorate the room
- >Once everything is set, you thank your friends and make your way back to the daycare
- >The daycare woman reports that Kirlia was extremely timid at first, but eventually opened up and even made a few friends
- >Upon hearing your voice, you quickly find that Kirlia had teleported by you, giving you an embrace with a gleeful smile
- >She says goodbye to her friends, and you walk home with her hand in yours
- >Back at home, you reveal your surprise
- >She’s speechless for a second, looking up at you with wide eyes
- >Then, she’s teleporting all around the room, taking in everything it has to offer
- >She tops it off with a tight embrace for you
- >You hug her back. As a pokemon she can’t speak, however you hear a thought in your head, it’s not your own
- >”Thank you, Dad!”
- =====================================================================
- * The worlds not safe for a wild pokemon living with humans. Let's take measures to make sure nobody can capture her and teach her how to defend herself.
- * Teaching some self defense wouldn't do harm, it might be useful for her and my be crucial in a bad circumstance... Also it must be an alternative to a pokeball, something less constraining and to make sure a rando just throws a pokeball and catches it... probably a collar of the sort...
- >You’ve been living with your daughter for quite a while now
- >The neighbors know you’ve been treating her as a daughter
- >Most of them are slightly confused by such a prospect, but respect it nonetheless
- >Although, you’ve heard a few things that make you a little concerned
- >With Kirlia being a pokemon, it worries you that someone may try to capture her
- >You take some old bags of flour from the recesses of your pantry, and set up some things around the backyard
- >Taking Kirlia outside, you explain to her that you worry about possible dangerous people
- >She gets a little concerned, but once you explained she’d be performing exercises to hone her psychic strength, she jumps into it with excitement
- >You have her practice levitating bags of flour, stones, and heavy branches
- >Then, you have her toss items at the flour bags, which are almost immediately torn to shreds
- >It quickly becomes apparent that she’s no slouch when it comes to power
- >Your remark on that gives her a confident smile, with her hands on her hips
- >”See Dad? You don’t have to worry, I can protect you!”
- >You realize that you didn’t specify who you worried was in danger
- >You pat her head again, and tell her just how lucky you are to have her as your daughter
- >”And I’M so lucky you’re my Dad!”
- =====================================================================
- * Seems safe, for now, it could be interesting to try something new, could a Pokemon learn to read and do basic math like the four arithmetic operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division? it could be superfluous... but may come handy, don't need to push some hard boundaries of intelligence... just like teaching a 6 year old, math and reading... also i wonder if it can learn to talk non telepathically...
- >Giving an education to a psychic-type felt a bit odd at first
- >Was such a thing even necessary?
- >You started by reading children’s books to her, guiding her through the words as you went along
- >She’d quickly become engrossed in those simple stories
- >Story time was becoming a tradition between the two of you
- >Through time, you learned that while a psychic affinity assisted in memory and mental capacity, she still needed to learn the subjects in the first place
- >It didn’t take long before Kirlia could read simple sentences back to you
- >She made great headway, and she did so in stride, proving to you she has what it takes
- >Mathematics was similar
- >You moved coins around on the dinner table to simulate addition and subtraction, then later moving to multiplication and subtraction
- >She immediately clicked with it, never getting an answer wrong
- >She was even being a bit of a showboat, making a point to emphasize how much this was a piece of cake to her...
- >Until she got a division problem wrong
- >That knocked her confidence down a peg or two
- >She held her head down in shame after telling her the actual answer
- >You’re quick to comfort her, telling her that even the smartest people get something wrong every now and again
- >It’s all part of the learning process
- >You tell her how proud you are of her for how much she’s learned
- >You manage to get her smile to return, although this time it’s a bit more humble
- >She’s happy to get back into the lesson with you. You are too
- =====================================================================
- * We should learn more about pokemon and the psychic type to be a better parent. Let's do some studying and try to find an expert to talk to.
- >You want to be the best parent you can be
- >You can recognize the oddity of your relationship, a human with a pokemon child
- >It worries you that there may be something important you’re missing
- >You spend a bit of time doing some research, trying to find other cases of raising a pokemon
- >Unfortunately you can’t find much information
- >The majority of results were about training pokemon, not raising them like your own flesh and blood
- >That, and general information about the Gardevoir line
- >There’s a slight worry you may be doing something wrong
- >You didn’t notice Kirlia approach you
- >”Are you okay Dad?”
- >You’re quick to tell her everything’s okay, inquiring why she thought to ask
- >”I can feel you’re worried.”
- >How did you forget? You just read how her line can pick up on the emotions of others
- >There’s no way to hide it, it seems
- >Perhaps against your better judgement, you ask her if she’d rather you be a pokemon as well. If that would make her more comfortable
- >”Why would that make me feel comfortable? I don’t want you to change, I just want you to stay being my dad.”
- >Perhaps you were just being paranoid
- >To emphasize her point, Kirlia holds her arms in the air, wanting you to lift her up as you’ve done many time before
- >She hugs you until she feels your worries melt away
- * Always had the thought that, if a psychic type is taught like a human, it will end up acting like one... and if there's no info about it, it would be good to analyze the situation and take notes, might also know how often is it also connected whit you emotionally and telepathically... probably learning if something as rare as myths about psychic types might help too... who knows, maybe in an ancient era a ruler was a pokemon and we didn't even know of such a thing.
- As long as teaching it the way of humans, probably it's wrong, but if its happy that way, then why stop?
- =====================================================================
- >You and Kirlia visited the daycare so she could see her friends again
- >It makes you happy to watch her getting along with them
- >Though you step out with the play area with the daycare lady to ask a question
- >It’s been years since you found the Ralts egg on your doorstep
- >Perhaps the daycare lady might know some feasible explanations to how it got there
- >Your inquiry appears to cause some stress
- >Apparently in the past, as a result of lax regulations and slightly senile daycare owners, a trainer was able to get away with the highly unethical practice of shiny breeding
- >Shinies are extremely rare and valuable variants of regular pokemon
- >Luckily, he was successful extremely early on, and the amount of...
- >failures...
- >was very few
- >Most Ralts had been left at the daycare, and eventually all were able to be taken in by trainers
- >The daycare lady says it’s possible that once the shiny was hatched, the trainer abandoned any excess eggs on hand
- >That may had been how she ended up on your doorstep
- >You thank her for her insight
- >Then, just barely, you hear the distinctly sharp noise of teleportation
- >She had been eavesdropping
- >You find Kirlia back in the play area, sitting in the corner
- >Tears in her eyes
- >”I’m sorry I’m not shiny.”
- >The voice in your head sounds apathetic
- >Telepathic thoughts don’t require that emotion be expressed through them, but you can see from her tears how she really feels
- >You take her into your arms, assuring her she’s perfect as is
- >Truly you couldn’t care less if she had blue or green hair
- >You keep her in your embrace into she knows you mean that
- =====================================================================
- * I imagine it would be hard to protect an innocent mind when they can read yours. It's inevitable sometime she'll learn something sooner then you're ready to teach her.
- >After the incident at the daycare, you decide that a few precautions need to be set
- >You still don’t think Kirlia has gotten over thinking she is a “failure”
- >Sitting her down at the table for a talk, you tell her that she worries about things that she shouldn’t for her age
- >You’re her father, and thus it’s your responsibility to be taking care of these problems
- >You ask her to promise not to read minds without consent, unless she’s in danger
- >That includes yours
- >”But I want to help you...”
- >You tell her the best way to help you is just to trust you in this
- >She needs to learn certain things when she’s ready
- >Even if it gets stressful for you, that’s part of the job
- >You know she wants you to think of her as a flawless child who can handle anything thrown at her
- >She just wants you to be proud, and will take any opportunity to make you so
- >You tell her you’re always proud of her, but you need her to let you be act like a father
- >She’s young and impressionable, and needs guidance just like anyone else
- >It’s nothing to be ashamed of
- >”OK, I’ll try. I promise.”
- >You pat her head again, it’s never failed to make her crack a smile
- >Luckily this is no exception
- =====================================================================
- >Kirlia still seems to be in the process of bouncing back into her peppy, confident self
- >She hasn’t been too motivated to leave the house because of it
- >You think you may be able to help her with a trip to the park
- >”To the park?”
- >You don’t know if she’s excited or nervous at the prospect
- >Whichever the case, she takes your hand as you offer it
- >She stays close to your side on the way there
- >Some others are there, and quite a few had brought pokemon companions
- >You hope that Kirlia would try to socialize, but her grip on your hand only tightens
- >You won’t try to force her
- >There’s a stand taking advantage on the amount of pokemon here, selling Poke Puffs
- >Kirlia loves the stuff, with chocolate frosting being her favorite
- >You make your way to the stand
- >Upon arrival, the stand owner takes notice of how tight Kirlia holds your hand
- >He remarks how cute she is
- >Such unexpected flattery causes Kirlia to blush
- >You purchase her favorite flavor, and watch her eyes widen
- >”Thank you, Dad!”
- >She needs to let go of you to hold her treat, and she’s a little reluctant
- >Thankfully, her mood seems to improve with every bite
- >Her eyes close as she relishes the flavor, and the taste leaves her with a slightly dopey grin
- >You can’t help but grin too
- >As the trip progresses, she becomes increasingly less uneased by anything that isn’t you
- >It gets to the point where she’s quite literally dancing circles around you
- >Her attitude gets the attention of other pokemon, and before you know it, she’s having fun with as a group with others
- >Every time she looks back at you, she gives a gleeful smile and wave
- >Of course, you return the gestures
- =====================================================================
- >Kirlia sits atop your shoulders on the way home
- >You were there much longer than you expected, but that’s preferable when she’s having fun
- >”And he couldn’t tag me back because I was too fast!”
- >You don’t know if teleportation necessarily counts as being fast
- >Regardless, everyone seemed to have a good time
- >Kirlia’s happy recounting of her time at the park is cut short by a strange individual
- >He’s wearing a dorky outfit, with some stylized letter acting as an emblem
- >He demands you have over your pokemon
- >Instinctively you place Kirlia down, getting between him and her
- >You tell him there’s no way in hell you’re doing that
- >He flashes you a grin that you expect he thought looked much more intimidating than it actually was
- >Though, it was admittedly more intimidating when he sent out a snarling Mightyena
- >You tell Kirlia to teleport out of here
- >”But what about you?!”
- >She hasn’t learned how to teleport others along with her yet
- >You repeat that she escapes, and add you’ll be okay
- >The criminal runs out of patience, and you hear the command for his Mightyena to use bite
- >Rather than teleport, Kirlia pushes past you, attempting to fling the sprinting dog away with powerful psychic energy
- >For some reason, the Mightyena is completely unfazed
- >Your heart plummets as your daughter getting bitten and flung aside by the beast
- >The crook laughs, informing you he’ll be taking your wallet as well
- >You aren’t letting them kidnap your daughter
- >You prepare to take a swing at the Mightyena
- >You’re stopped, however, by what sounds like a tree uprooting
- >You hear a thought in your head
- >”Stand back!”
- >The three of you turn to see Kirlia, having gotten up, hands raised in the air
- >She glows purple, with solid white eyes
- >Before the crook and his Mightyena can realize what’s about to happen, she swings her arms down
- >A large tree crashes down on the two of them, knocking them out and pinning them down
- >Once the purple glow fades, you can see her bruises
- >She falls to her knees, exhausted
- >You run over, scooping her in your arms
- >”I’m...okay...Dad...”
- >You’re relieved the worst hadn’t happened
- >With her in your arms, you sprint to the nearest Poke Center
- >Upon arrival, you hurriedly tell the nurse what had happened
- >Because Kirlia doesn’t have a ball, the nurse rushes to grab you some potions
- >You tell Kirlia to hold still as you spray the most injured areas first
- >”I’m sorry Dad... I didn’t want you to get hurt...”
- >You aren’t going to chastise her for what she did, not now
- >You’d rather keep her in your arms and tell her you’re so glad it wasn’t any worse
- >She holds you tight too
- >The nurse recommends she spends the night here, you agree
- >And you never leave her side
- >Fortunately, Kirlia was able to make a full recovery
- >Still, you carried her in your arms on the way home
- >The first thing you do when you get back is to tell her to never make you worry like that again
- >”But I don’t want you getting hurt...”
- >A father should be protecting his daughter, not the other way around
- >”Why can’t it be both?”
- >After some back and forth, it seems Kirlia isn’t going to budge on the subject
- >So you come up with a compromise
- >Kirlia will learn how to bring someone else along when teleporting
- >You think it’s best to start small, so you tell her to grab one of her poketoys
- >She’s determined to get it down, rushing to the backyard with the toy to teleport short distances
- >She blips away, but the toy remains where it was and falls to the ground
- >She tries again and again, but can’t quite seem to get it down
- >You know she doesn’t like it when you watch her mess up something, so you decide to do some research instead
- >You find a particularly helpful piece on teleportation
- >You learn that since teleportation is generally a psychic-type thing, mindset is the key to achieving what you want
- >Correct mindset can vary between species
- >Back outside, you see Kirlia still hasn’t gotten it down, maybe getting a little frustrated
- >You step up to her, and ask what she thinks about before teleporting
- >”Um... I try to imagine the toy is you. And that we’re getting away from a bad person.”
- >You offer her to try it with you, holding your hand out
- >She takes it, and you tell her to instead think about happy memories the two of you had together
- >”OK...”
- >She closes her eyes to better imagine the memories
- >After a few seconds of nothing, you begin to wonder if she tried or not
- >You blink, and afterwards are surprised to find yourself disorientated, five feet away from where you once stood
- >”I did it... I did it!”
- >One hand in yours, she pivots around to grab the other, hopping in celebration
- >You share a laugh together
- =====================================================================
- >There’s a knock at your front door
- >Kirlia gets there first, but she knows better than to open it without you
- >You get there, and are greeted by an officer
- >She thanks you for taking down a goon of Team Something-or-Other, and allowing an easy apprehension
- >You tell her you don’t deserve the credit, instead referring her to the Kirlia next to you
- >The redirect of attention gives her a slight blush
- >You say that she’s the true hero
- >”I’m a hero?”
- >You reaffirm it, getting on one knee to salute her heroism
- >The officer laughs and plays along, also getting on one knee
- >The gestures give her a confident smile, and she holds her head high with her knuckles on her hips
- >”Yeah... I AM a hero! I’m a hero!”
- >You laugh and give her a pat on the head
- >It seems that Kirlia loves to dance when she’s happy, and that’s exemplified here
- >She does pirouettes and leaps, laughing the whole time
- >”I’m a hero! I’m a hero!”
- >You and the officer stand up
- >With Kirlia distracted, the officer says that it really was you giving the commands, right?
- >You tell her no, actually, she kind of did the opposite of what you told her
- >Maybe you shouldn’t have been encouraging that... Oh well
- >She gives you a hefty amount of reward money for the goon’s capture before leaving
- >You know Kirlia doesn’t care for money, but you’ll probably spend most of it on her anyway
- >She’s your little hero after all
- =====================================================================
- * No man (or Pokemon) is an island. I imagine Kirlia would feel a little weird when trying to make friends because of being raised like she was a human girl, but in the end being a Pokemon herself.
- Would she get along better with human kids or low level Pokemon?
- >Kirlia had been in the mood for another trip to the park
- >How could you not oblige?
- >Once the two of you get there, you notice that there aren’t as many pokemon out today
- >Kirlia appears a little disappointed she can’t spot any of her past playmates
- >There are a few human children scattered around, so you suggest she play with them
- >”...I don’t know.”
- >She doesn’t know? What’s that supposed to mean?
- >”What if they think I’m weird? They aren’t pokemon...”
- >You tell her when you were her age, there was nothing cooler than pokemon
- >She’s hesitant, but is able to separate from you and step into the open
- >However it doesn’t seem like she’s able to muster up the courage to actually approach anyone
- >It looks like she’s about to give up, but a young girl approaches her before she can
- >She says Kirlia looks just like her brother’s Gardevoir, and barrages her with questions
- >Can she teleport?
- >Can she move stuff with her mind?
- >Can she guess what she’s thinking right now?
- >You can tell it’s overwhelming for Kirlia
- >But all of the sudden, the girl stops talking
- >She stares in amazement, surprised she heard Kirlia “talk” to her
- >The girl excitedly asks Kirlia to do the same thing with her friend, pointing at another girl playing with a ball
- >You see the girl with the ball startled by seemingly nothing, looking around to find the source
- >She spots Kirlia and her friend, the latter waving for her to come over
- >Before she knows it, Kirlia recieves questions from two girls
- >After some apparent telepathic communication, one of the girls holds out her ball
- >To their amazement, the ball begins to levitate
- >In sync, the girls remark how cool that is
- >Something in Kirlia clicks, and the ball goes from calmly floating to expertly weaving around the group
- >Kirlia launches the ball at an arc, only to teleport and catch it, repeating the process to show off
- >Before long, a small crowd of children form to watch the show she’s putting on
- >The children ooh and aah as Kirlia shows off her psychic prowess
- >You can tell she’s having a blast, she always was a bit of a show-off
- >Unfortunately, she may have caused too much attention
- >One parent had broken conversation from another, and was marching towards the group
- >She grabs the arm of her child, pulling her away much to the child’s dismay
- >As the lady passes you, you hear her scolding the child for getting to close to a wild pokemon
- >That they can be dangerous
- >Bitch.
- >You hope Kirlia didn’t notice that, but looking back, you see she appears to have lost all her momentum
- >She gives the girl back her ball and saunters back to you
- >The crowd of children are disappointed, and disperse
- >”I’m ready to go home.”
- >She’s hanging her head down
- >Part of you wants to find that woman and give her a piece of your mind
- >However, you hear Kirlia’s name called out by the first two girls she met
- >You both turn and see them run up to Kirlia
- >They ask if they’ll be able to play with her again sometime in the future
- >Kirlia appears a little surprised, and she looks up at you
- >You tell the girls of course they can
- >One of them asks if you are Kirlia’s trainer, but you correct her, informing that you’re her father
- >The girls accept and gloss over the fact as if it were a common, mundane thing
- >They give Kirlia their names, Penny and Bailey, before saying goodbye
- >Kirlia’s spirits had lifted considerably after that interaction
- =====================================================================
- * Let's ask her if she's interested in getting a TM or one of those twisted spoon things.
- >Something catches your eye at the market
- >A TM stand, chock full of the devices
- >Why not use some of that reward money and let Kirlia pick something nice out?
- >You lead her to the stand, and ask the owner of he’s got anything compatible for a Kirlia
- >The owner grabs a stack and spreads them across the counter, asking what you’d like
- >Instead, you lift Kirlia up, asking what she’d like
- >”You’re letting me pick?”
- >Anything she wants
- >”Oh, um...”
- >She scans the selection
- >”Oh! Oh! This one!”
- >She grabs a red colored one to show you
- >Fire Punch?
- >You snicker
- >”What? Hey, it’d be cool! What’s so funny?”
- >Nothing, nothing
- >Though, should you be worried about giving her fire powers?
- >...Nah. Ten-year-olds run around with flaming beasts all the time
- >The stand owner is knowledgeable on the move, telling you the fire is really just supplementary to the punch
- >The flame shouldn’t be strong enough to set things on fire, only char or burn
- >You ask the stand owner how much it costs
- >After paying for the TM, the two of you get on your way
- >Kirlia’s excited to learn the move, but you’re not quite sure how the disc is supposed to work...
- >You study the thing for a bit...
- >...Oh, you got it. It makes perfect sense, how did you not understand?
- >You use the TM as intended on Kirlia
- >”I... I think I got it!”
- >You tell her to give it a shot
- >Kirlia ducks into a her best boxer stance
- >She pivots left, then right
- >And finally, her fist ignites as she twists into a right hook
- >Your heart jumps watching your daughter’s hand set ablaze, but Kirlia’s unfazed
- >Actually that’s not true, she’s amazed
- >”Woooooow!”
- >She turns to you with a twinkle in her eyes
- >”Did you see that?! Wasn’t that cool?!”
- >You’re glad she’s having fun
- >”I’m unstoppable!”
- >She performs a blazing left hook, which leads into rapid-spinning, flaming pirouettes
- >She laughs the whole time
- >Maybe this wasn’t the best idea...
- * >She picked a physical move
- How do we break it to her that she will never be a Gallade?
- * (To above) She likes to show off, I guess this is more about real life special effects while dancing than about battling.
- =====================================================================
- * Pokedad should enroll her in a contest
- >A contest?
- >”Yeah! It’d be so fun! Please?”
- >You aren’t too sure about it
- >People would be judging your daughter
- >How would she feel if they gave her a bad score?
- >Though you do know there are contests for beginners, those are probably much more lenient
- >All right, if she really wants to...
- >”Yes! Thank you thank you!”
- >She grabs your hand, and before you know it, the two of you are in the registration hall
- >There are a few categories
- >You think cuteness would be a good fit, or maybe cleverness...
- >”I want to do the coolness one!”
- >Coolness?
- >”What’s the matter? I’m cool. You know I am!”
- >You assure her you do know
- >”Then you know I can win!”
- >Well, if she’s really sure...
- >Though you make sure to tell her it’s not about winning, it’s about having fun
- >”Yeah, but winning will make it even more fun.”
- >You sigh, and register her for the beginner’s coolness contest
- >When it’s time, you give her a hug, wish her luck, and tell her you’ll be watching in the audience
- >The audience seems to be a relatively small one, and it’s not hard to find a seat
- >After a brief introduction, the four contestants step onto the stage
- >Kirlia...definitely sticks out
- >All other pokemon are much more imposing and edgy (literally and figuratively)
- >Kirlia’s completely oblivious to the contrast, excitedly waving to the crowd
- >She scans the audience and finds you, and you hear her voice in your head
- >”I’ve got this in the bag, Dad!”
- >You wave back and give an encouraging nod
- >The competition gets underway
- >In this beginner contest, there are three rounds for each contestant to use moves to impress the judges
- >For Kirlia’s first round, she plays it safe with a powerful psychic
- >She holds her arms up, positioned like a “Y”
- >The area on the stage visually twists, turns, and distorts as Kirlia bends the space around her, creating an abstract spectacle
- >The crowd, you included of course, cheer. The judges seem moderately impressed
- >For the second round, everyone gets confused as Kirlia blips away
- >She returns with a boulder larger than she is
- >She grabs it from the bottom, and lifts it straight over her head
- >You feel like you’re about to have a heart attack, but Kirlia is having no issues
- >She’s using her powers to hold the rock, just making it look like she can lift it with her hands
- >The judges seem more impressed at that display
- >For the final round, Kirlia performs a ballet dance, which would have been completely off theme had her knuckles not been on fire
- >Her spins, twirls and leaps leave a trail of fire as she goes through the routine
- >The crowd cheers the loudest they had until this moment
- >Kirlia notices, and can’t help but bow before her turn is up
- >Once all contestants have gone, they stand in a line as the judges speak amongst themselves
- >Finally, it’s decided that the winner is...
- >Kirlia!
- >Everyone stands up to cheer, but no one louder than you
- >Kirlia bows and dances under the spotlight
- >You reunite with Kirlia at the registration hall
- >”I won! I won!”
- >You tell her that you’re so proud, and she jumps in your arms for a hug
- >One of the judges approach, presenting Kirlia a ribbon with “Amateur Coolness” inscribed
- >She wears it with pride
- >The judge also congratulates her
- >He says they were skeptical at first, but such a fresh, unorthodox choice was just what they needed
- >”Unorthodox?”
- >You tell her not to worry, and offer to get her favorite Poke Puff to celebrate
- >She’s all for it

- * When you're a father and you had a shitty day, just a drawing of your child and their parents is enough to make you smile.
- I imagine that Kirlia, by being the natural born empath she may perceive when you feel you're tired or angry for reasons she doesn't comprehend.
- >Today you learned something that really put you down
- >An obituary of one of your friends
- >Well, ex-friend
- >You looked up his name out of curiosity
- >Died in some freak accident
- >You must’ve been around Kirlia’s age when you first became friends
- >But the two of you had a massive fight in your high school years, and the friendship broke off
- >At the time, you were happy when you went to separate schools
- >But reading his eight month old obituary now, it’s depressing that you’ll never get the chance to patch things up
- >Looking back, the argument was a really stupid one
- >Definitely not worth what could have been a lifelong friendship
- >”Dad? Are you okay?”
- >You turn to see Kirlia, holding a sheet of paper
- >You tell her you’re doing all right
- >”No... You’re sad. I can feel it.”
- >You can’t hide your emotions, she is a Kirlia after all
- >You say it’s nothing she should worry about
- >You’re just remembering a little mistake you made in the past, that’s all
- >You suggest she go back to her drawing
- >Instead, in the blink of an eye, she’s next to you and hugging your legs
- >”I don’t want you to be sad...”
- >You say again how she doesn’t need to worry
- >”But you always make me feel better when I’m sad. Let me do the same for you.”
- >She pulls away so she can hand you the paper
- >On it, constructed from a mish-mash of crayons and colored markers, are squiggly representations of Kirlia and you
- >You both have simplistic faces, like a ditto’s, standing on a nondescript grassy hill with a big yellow sun in the background
- >”Me and Dad at the park” is written at the top
- >It makes you smile
- >You tell her it’s a masterpiece, deserving to be put in a museum
- >She giggles at the complement
- >You weren’t expecting her to jump into another hug, but you still manage to catch her in your arms
- >”I love you Dad.”
- >You love her too
- >While holding her in your embrace, you wonder how you ever managed without your daughter
- =====================================================================
- * maybe one where she becomes best friends with a Gothorita and Steenee and they all want to play with you and generally do cute stuff.
- >Kirlia’s always been outgoing
- >So it’s not surprising when you look outside and see her playing with two wild pokemon
- >A Gothorita and a Steenee, by the looks of it
- >You step outside, simply just to greet them
- >Your presence almost scares them off, but Kirlia’s quick to explain the situation
- >They look at you weirdly, but Kirlia’s able to shift the focus back to their game
- >You leave them be for a moment, deciding to prepare snacks for the group
- >When you get back, you see Steenee’s taken charge
- >Kirlia’s the first to notice you, waving and holding up a crown of flowers
- >”Dad! Look what Steenee taught us to make!”
- >She places it on her head with a large grin
- >You tell her she looks very refined, like a princess. She giggles
- >”That means you’d be the king!”
- >She verbally says something to Steenee, and then with Gotherita
- >You set down the snacks before finding the two psychic-types leading you by the hands to Steenee
- >She takes a small curtsy before presenting you a crown of your own
- >”King Dad! King Dad!”
- >Any nervousness Gothorita and Steenee may have had vanish as they watch Kirlia dance around you
- >The two of them laugh along with Kirlia, celebrating the crowning of the new king
- >Kirlia kneels in front of you
- >”What do you command, My King?”
- >You chuckle. You don’t think a king necessarily gives orders to his princess like this, but why not play along?
- >Gothorita and Steenee join her
- >You try deepening your voice to achieve your best impression of a distinguished king
- >The three of them spend their time having fun exploring “new land” in the name of your “kingdom”
- >And it’s enjoyable for you too. Nothing makes you happier than seeing Kirlia in a good mood
- =====================================================================
- * Does she like theme parks? I'd just like to imagine her enjoying some cotton candy.
- >Kirlia had been very excitable on this trip, taking in the new sights
- >But nothing got her more excited than the Ferris Wheel in the distance
- >Some sort of fair or park. Likely has other sorts of rides as well
- >”Can we go? Please?”
- >Why not, while you’re here?
- >”Yes! Come on, let’s go!”
- >You hold out your hand, and Kirlia quickly takes a hold
- >In an instant, you’re at the entrance gate
- >Apparently there’s no entrance fee
- >Kirlia bounds to the Ferris Wheel, and beckons you to hurry
- >Luckily, each capsule can hold two people
- >Once you’re off the ground, Kirlia jumps from corner to corner, looking out past the city from the glass
- >”Look how high we are! I feel HUGE! Look at that!”
- >Kirlia pulls you to the side of the capsule, pointing where she wants you to look
- >You peer out, finding...Kirlia, waving back at you from the top of a building
- >You look back at your side where she teleports back, laughing at her little trick
- >She laughs louder as you pat her head
- >Curiously there were also indoor roller coasters, which Kirlia was eager to try, but quick regret
- >On the first ride, she spent the entire time clinging to you with her eyes closed
- >You ask if she wants to do something else, but she’s determined to restore her honor
- >”I-I won’t be so s-scared next time...! I swear!”
- >She holds a braver face on the second ride, although she still grips your hand extremely tight
- >You end off the day satisfying Kirlia’s curiosity on what cotton candy tastes like
- >You buy her a piece, which she takes an excessively large chomp out of
- >”It’s melting in my mouth!”
- >She’s lucky she communicates with you telepathically, else you wouldn’t have been able to understand her
- >The sugar gives her some extra energy, but that’s quick to burn away
- >She yawns as the sun begins to set, and you offer to carry her as you leave
- >She holds her arms up, and you lift her into yours
- >It doesn’t take long before she’s asleep, cradled in your arms
- * >Kirlia pulls you to the side of the capsule, pointing where she wants you to look
- >You peer out, finding...Kirlia, waving back at you from the top of a building
- You got me with that part. It's very heartwarming when kids surprise you with tricks like that.
- Thanks, again, for your stories. They make me happy.
