  1. From the Ralts Line thread >>43318027 of April 18th, 2020
  2.
  3. Imagine the following:
  4. >Find an egg on your doorstep
  5. >Take it inside to get it out of the cold
  6. >Before you can call the daycare to take it off your hands, it hatches
  7. >A Ralts
  8. >You are immediately imprinted on
  9. What do you do?
  10.
  11. =====================================================================
  12.
  13. >You aren’t a trainer, so you’ve been treating her more like a daughter than anything else
  14. >She gets spooked easily, teleports next to you and hugs your ankle at the first sign of danger
  15. >You’ve almost been tripped about ten times by now
  16. >Can’t help but take her in your arms and comfort her
  17. >She evolves into a Kirlia one day
  18. >She’s a lot more outgoing now, always trying show you the new moves she learned to make you proud
  19.
  20. =====================================================================
  21.
  22. * Shit got interesting. Well it's time to make sure if it can use some sort of telekinesis properly, if its eager to try new things, it wouldn't be bad to try teach it some manners and shores, basic stuff... or die trying. A fucking dog can, a being that shares thoughts and feelings can also not only learn these things but be much much more.
  23.
  24. >You decide she’s old enough to help around the house
  25. >She doesn’t take too well to the idea at first, as a child would
  26. >But she changes her attitude on a dime once she realizes it’s an opportunity to show off her psychic talents
  27. >Your house couldn’t be cleaner, she’s a perfectionist
  28. >You often have to intervene to get her to stop
  29. >Doesn’t care for allowance, rather it makes her day when you pat her head and tell her she’s done a great job
  30. >You might be spoiling her in that regard, but you feel she’s done enough to deserve it
  31. >She follows you around everywhere
  32. >You’ve taken her to the market a few times
  33. >It’s subtle, but she still hides behind your legs whenever you pass a particularly large pokemon
  34.
  35. =====================================================================
  36.
  37. * it seems unfair that you'd make her clean the whole house with no reward though. Would you give her a room of her own?
  38.
  39. >Even though it seems she’s content just with your affection, you want to do something big for her
  40. >People often ask why she’s always outside of her pokeball, but truth be told, she doesn’t have one
  41. >Keeping your daughter in a pokeball seems hardly appropriate
  42. >You contact some friends and come up with a plan
  43. >You take Kirlia to the daycare one morning, telling her you’ll be back to come get her before the day is over
  44. >She’s very reluctant, but after a big hug, and a promise you’d never think of abandoning her, she follows the daycare woman into the building
  45. >You hurry home, meeting up with your friends
  46. >Together, you remove the old bed from the guest room and apply it in a fresh coat of paint.
  47. >A brand new bed is installed, along with a wardrobe and other bedroom necessities.
  48. >Poketoys and portraits of the two of you decorate the room
  49. >Once everything is set, you thank your friends and make your way back to the daycare
  50. >The daycare woman reports that Kirlia was extremely timid at first, but eventually opened up and even made a few friends
  51. >Upon hearing your voice, you quickly find that Kirlia had teleported by you, giving you an embrace with a gleeful smile
  52. >She says goodbye to her friends, and you walk home with her hand in yours
  53. >Back at home, you reveal your surprise
  54. >She’s speechless for a second, looking up at you with wide eyes
  55. >Then, she’s teleporting all around the room, taking in everything it has to offer
  56. >She tops it off with a tight embrace for you
  57. >You hug her back. As a pokemon she can’t speak, however you hear a thought in your head, it’s not your own
  58. >”Thank you, Dad!”
  59.
  60. =====================================================================
  61.
  62. * The worlds not safe for a wild pokemon living with humans. Let's take measures to make sure nobody can capture her and teach her how to defend herself.
  63. * Teaching some self defense wouldn't do harm, it might be useful for her and my be crucial in a bad circumstance... Also it must be an alternative to a pokeball, something less constraining and to make sure a rando just throws a pokeball and catches it... probably a collar of the sort...
  64.
  65. >You’ve been living with your daughter for quite a while now
  66. >The neighbors know you’ve been treating her as a daughter
  67. >Most of them are slightly confused by such a prospect, but respect it nonetheless
  68. >Although, you’ve heard a few things that make you a little concerned
  69. >With Kirlia being a pokemon, it worries you that someone may try to capture her
  70. >You take some old bags of flour from the recesses of your pantry, and set up some things around the backyard
  71. >Taking Kirlia outside, you explain to her that you worry about possible dangerous people
  72. >She gets a little concerned, but once you explained she’d be performing exercises to hone her psychic strength, she jumps into it with excitement
  73. >You have her practice levitating bags of flour, stones, and heavy branches
  74. >Then, you have her toss items at the flour bags, which are almost immediately torn to shreds
  75. >It quickly becomes apparent that she’s no slouch when it comes to power
  76. >Your remark on that gives her a confident smile, with her hands on her hips
  77. >”See Dad? You don’t have to worry, I can protect you!”
  78. >You realize that you didn’t specify who you worried was in danger
  79. >You pat her head again, and tell her just how lucky you are to have her as your daughter
  80. >”And I’M so lucky you’re my Dad!”
  81.
  82. =====================================================================
  83.
  84. * Seems safe, for now, it could be interesting to try something new, could a Pokemon learn to read and do basic math like the four arithmetic operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division? it could be superfluous... but may come handy, don't need to push some hard boundaries of intelligence... just like teaching a 6 year old, math and reading... also i wonder if it can learn to talk non telepathically...
  85.
  86. >Giving an education to a psychic-type felt a bit odd at first
  87. >Was such a thing even necessary?
  88. >You started by reading children’s books to her, guiding her through the words as you went along
  89. >She’d quickly become engrossed in those simple stories
  90. >Story time was becoming a tradition between the two of you
  91. >Through time, you learned that while a psychic affinity assisted in memory and mental capacity, she still needed to learn the subjects in the first place
  92. >It didn’t take long before Kirlia could read simple sentences back to you
  93. >She made great headway, and she did so in stride, proving to you she has what it takes
  94. >Mathematics was similar
  95. >You moved coins around on the dinner table to simulate addition and subtraction, then later moving to multiplication and subtraction
  96. >She immediately clicked with it, never getting an answer wrong
  97. >She was even being a bit of a showboat, making a point to emphasize how much this was a piece of cake to her...
  98. >Until she got a division problem wrong
  99. >That knocked her confidence down a peg or two
  100. >She held her head down in shame after telling her the actual answer
  101. >You’re quick to comfort her, telling her that even the smartest people get something wrong every now and again
  102. >It’s all part of the learning process
  103. >You tell her how proud you are of her for how much she’s learned
  104. >You manage to get her smile to return, although this time it’s a bit more humble
  105. >She’s happy to get back into the lesson with you. You are too
  106.
  107. =====================================================================
  108.
  109. * We should learn more about pokemon and the psychic type to be a better parent. Let's do some studying and try to find an expert to talk to.
  110.
  111. >You want to be the best parent you can be
  112. >You can recognize the oddity of your relationship, a human with a pokemon child
  113. >It worries you that there may be something important you’re missing
  114. >You spend a bit of time doing some research, trying to find other cases of raising a pokemon
  115. >Unfortunately you can’t find much information
  116. >The majority of results were about training pokemon, not raising them like your own flesh and blood
  117. >That, and general information about the Gardevoir line
  118. >There’s a slight worry you may be doing something wrong
  119. >You didn’t notice Kirlia approach you
  120. >”Are you okay Dad?”
  121. >You’re quick to tell her everything’s okay, inquiring why she thought to ask
  122. >”I can feel you’re worried.”
  123. >How did you forget? You just read how her line can pick up on the emotions of others
  124. >There’s no way to hide it, it seems
  125. >Perhaps against your better judgement, you ask her if she’d rather you be a pokemon as well. If that would make her more comfortable
  126. >”Why would that make me feel comfortable? I don’t want you to change, I just want you to stay being my dad.”
  127. >Perhaps you were just being paranoid
  128. >To emphasize her point, Kirlia holds her arms in the air, wanting you to lift her up as you’ve done many time before
  129. >She hugs you until she feels your worries melt away
  130.
  131. * Always had the thought that, if a psychic type is taught like a human, it will end up acting like one... and if there's no info about it, it would be good to analyze the situation and take notes, might also know how often is it also connected whit you emotionally and telepathically... probably learning if something as rare as myths about psychic types might help too... who knows, maybe in an ancient era a ruler was a pokemon and we didn't even know of such a thing.
  132. As long as teaching it the way of humans, probably it's wrong, but if its happy that way, then why stop?
  133.
  134. =====================================================================
  135.
  136. >You and Kirlia visited the daycare so she could see her friends again
  137. >It makes you happy to watch her getting along with them
  138. >Though you step out with the play area with the daycare lady to ask a question
  139. >It’s been years since you found the Ralts egg on your doorstep
  140. >Perhaps the daycare lady might know some feasible explanations to how it got there
  141. >Your inquiry appears to cause some stress
  142. >Apparently in the past, as a result of lax regulations and slightly senile daycare owners, a trainer was able to get away with the highly unethical practice of shiny breeding
  143. >Shinies are extremely rare and valuable variants of regular pokemon
  144. >Luckily, he was successful extremely early on, and the amount of...
  145. >failures...
  146. >was very few
  147. >Most Ralts had been left at the daycare, and eventually all were able to be taken in by trainers
  148. >The daycare lady says it’s possible that once the shiny was hatched, the trainer abandoned any excess eggs on hand
  149. >That may had been how she ended up on your doorstep
  150. >You thank her for her insight
  151. >Then, just barely, you hear the distinctly sharp noise of teleportation
  152. >She had been eavesdropping
  153. >You find Kirlia back in the play area, sitting in the corner
  154. >Tears in her eyes
  155. >”I’m sorry I’m not shiny.”
  156. >The voice in your head sounds apathetic
  157. >Telepathic thoughts don’t require that emotion be expressed through them, but you can see from her tears how she really feels
  158. >You take her into your arms, assuring her she’s perfect as is
  159. >Truly you couldn’t care less if she had blue or green hair
  160. >You keep her in your embrace into she knows you mean that
  161.
  162. =====================================================================
  163.
  164. * I imagine it would be hard to protect an innocent mind when they can read yours. It's inevitable sometime she'll learn something sooner then you're ready to teach her.
  165.
  166. >After the incident at the daycare, you decide that a few precautions need to be set
  167. >You still don’t think Kirlia has gotten over thinking she is a “failure”
  168. >Sitting her down at the table for a talk, you tell her that she worries about things that she shouldn’t for her age
  169. >You’re her father, and thus it’s your responsibility to be taking care of these problems
  170. >You ask her to promise not to read minds without consent, unless she’s in danger
  171. >That includes yours
  172. >”But I want to help you...”
  173. >You tell her the best way to help you is just to trust you in this
  174. >She needs to learn certain things when she’s ready
  175. >Even if it gets stressful for you, that’s part of the job
  176. >You know she wants you to think of her as a flawless child who can handle anything thrown at her
  177. >She just wants you to be proud, and will take any opportunity to make you so
  178. >You tell her you’re always proud of her, but you need her to let you be act like a father
  179. >She’s young and impressionable, and needs guidance just like anyone else
  180. >It’s nothing to be ashamed of
  181. >”OK, I’ll try. I promise.”
  182. >You pat her head again, it’s never failed to make her crack a smile
  183. >Luckily this is no exception
  184.
  185. =====================================================================
  186.
  187. >Kirlia still seems to be in the process of bouncing back into her peppy, confident self
  188. >She hasn’t been too motivated to leave the house because of it
  189. >You think you may be able to help her with a trip to the park
  190. >”To the park?”
  191. >You don’t know if she’s excited or nervous at the prospect
  192. >Whichever the case, she takes your hand as you offer it
  193. >She stays close to your side on the way there
  194. >Some others are there, and quite a few had brought pokemon companions
  195. >You hope that Kirlia would try to socialize, but her grip on your hand only tightens
  196. >You won’t try to force her
  197. >There’s a stand taking advantage on the amount of pokemon here, selling Poke Puffs
  198. >Kirlia loves the stuff, with chocolate frosting being her favorite
  199. >You make your way to the stand
  200. >Upon arrival, the stand owner takes notice of how tight Kirlia holds your hand
  201. >He remarks how cute she is
  202. >Such unexpected flattery causes Kirlia to blush
  203. >You purchase her favorite flavor, and watch her eyes widen
  204. >”Thank you, Dad!”
  205. >She needs to let go of you to hold her treat, and she’s a little reluctant
  206. >Thankfully, her mood seems to improve with every bite
  207. >Her eyes close as she relishes the flavor, and the taste leaves her with a slightly dopey grin
  208. >You can’t help but grin too
  209. >As the trip progresses, she becomes increasingly less uneased by anything that isn’t you
  210. >It gets to the point where she’s quite literally dancing circles around you
  211. >Her attitude gets the attention of other pokemon, and before you know it, she’s having fun with as a group with others
  212. >Every time she looks back at you, she gives a gleeful smile and wave
  213. >Of course, you return the gestures
  214.
  215. =====================================================================
  216.
  217. >Kirlia sits atop your shoulders on the way home
  218. >You were there much longer than you expected, but that’s preferable when she’s having fun
  219. >”And he couldn’t tag me back because I was too fast!”
  220. >You don’t know if teleportation necessarily counts as being fast
  221. >Regardless, everyone seemed to have a good time
  222. >Kirlia’s happy recounting of her time at the park is cut short by a strange individual
  223. >He’s wearing a dorky outfit, with some stylized letter acting as an emblem
  224. >He demands you have over your pokemon
  225. >Instinctively you place Kirlia down, getting between him and her
  226. >You tell him there’s no way in hell you’re doing that
  227. >He flashes you a grin that you expect he thought looked much more intimidating than it actually was
  228. >Though, it was admittedly more intimidating when he sent out a snarling Mightyena
  229. >You tell Kirlia to teleport out of here
  230. >”But what about you?!”
  231. >She hasn’t learned how to teleport others along with her yet
  232. >You repeat that she escapes, and add you’ll be okay
  233. >The criminal runs out of patience, and you hear the command for his Mightyena to use bite
  234. >Rather than teleport, Kirlia pushes past you, attempting to fling the sprinting dog away with powerful psychic energy
  235. >For some reason, the Mightyena is completely unfazed
  236. >Your heart plummets as your daughter getting bitten and flung aside by the beast
  237. >The crook laughs, informing you he’ll be taking your wallet as well
  238. >You aren’t letting them kidnap your daughter
  239. >You prepare to take a swing at the Mightyena
  240. >You’re stopped, however, by what sounds like a tree uprooting
  241. >You hear a thought in your head
  242. >”Stand back!”
  243. >The three of you turn to see Kirlia, having gotten up, hands raised in the air
  244. >She glows purple, with solid white eyes
  245. >Before the crook and his Mightyena can realize what’s about to happen, she swings her arms down
  246. >A large tree crashes down on the two of them, knocking them out and pinning them down
  247.
  248. >Once the purple glow fades, you can see her bruises
  249. >She falls to her knees, exhausted
  250. >You run over, scooping her in your arms
  251. >”I’m...okay...Dad...”
  252. >You’re relieved the worst hadn’t happened
  253. >With her in your arms, you sprint to the nearest Poke Center
  254. >Upon arrival, you hurriedly tell the nurse what had happened
  255. >Because Kirlia doesn’t have a ball, the nurse rushes to grab you some potions
  256. >You tell Kirlia to hold still as you spray the most injured areas first
  257. >”I’m sorry Dad... I didn’t want you to get hurt...”
  258. >You aren’t going to chastise her for what she did, not now
  259. >You’d rather keep her in your arms and tell her you’re so glad it wasn’t any worse
  260. >She holds you tight too
  261. >The nurse recommends she spends the night here, you agree
  262. >And you never leave her side
  263.
  264. >Fortunately, Kirlia was able to make a full recovery
  265. >Still, you carried her in your arms on the way home
  266. >The first thing you do when you get back is to tell her to never make you worry like that again
  267. >”But I don’t want you getting hurt...”
  268. >A father should be protecting his daughter, not the other way around
  269. >”Why can’t it be both?”
  270. >After some back and forth, it seems Kirlia isn’t going to budge on the subject
  271. >So you come up with a compromise
  272. >Kirlia will learn how to bring someone else along when teleporting
  273. >You think it’s best to start small, so you tell her to grab one of her poketoys
  274. >She’s determined to get it down, rushing to the backyard with the toy to teleport short distances
  275. >She blips away, but the toy remains where it was and falls to the ground
  276. >She tries again and again, but can’t quite seem to get it down
  277. >You know she doesn’t like it when you watch her mess up something, so you decide to do some research instead
  278. >You find a particularly helpful piece on teleportation
  279. >You learn that since teleportation is generally a psychic-type thing, mindset is the key to achieving what you want
  280. >Correct mindset can vary between species
  281. >Back outside, you see Kirlia still hasn’t gotten it down, maybe getting a little frustrated
  282. >You step up to her, and ask what she thinks about before teleporting
  283. >”Um... I try to imagine the toy is you. And that we’re getting away from a bad person.”
  284. >You offer her to try it with you, holding your hand out
  285. >She takes it, and you tell her to instead think about happy memories the two of you had together
  286. >”OK...”
  287. >She closes her eyes to better imagine the memories
  288. >After a few seconds of nothing, you begin to wonder if she tried or not
  289. >You blink, and afterwards are surprised to find yourself disorientated, five feet away from where you once stood
  290. >”I did it... I did it!”
  291. >One hand in yours, she pivots around to grab the other, hopping in celebration
  292. >You share a laugh together
  293.
  294. =====================================================================
  295.
  296. >There’s a knock at your front door
  297. >Kirlia gets there first, but she knows better than to open it without you
  298. >You get there, and are greeted by an officer
  299. >She thanks you for taking down a goon of Team Something-or-Other, and allowing an easy apprehension
  300. >You tell her you don’t deserve the credit, instead referring her to the Kirlia next to you
  301. >The redirect of attention gives her a slight blush
  302. >You say that she’s the true hero
  303. >”I’m a hero?”
  304. >You reaffirm it, getting on one knee to salute her heroism
  305. >The officer laughs and plays along, also getting on one knee
  306. >The gestures give her a confident smile, and she holds her head high with her knuckles on her hips
  307. >”Yeah... I AM a hero! I’m a hero!”
  308. >You laugh and give her a pat on the head
  309. >It seems that Kirlia loves to dance when she’s happy, and that’s exemplified here
  310. >She does pirouettes and leaps, laughing the whole time
  311. >”I’m a hero! I’m a hero!”
  312. >You and the officer stand up
  313. >With Kirlia distracted, the officer says that it really was you giving the commands, right?
  314. >You tell her no, actually, she kind of did the opposite of what you told her
  315. >Maybe you shouldn’t have been encouraging that... Oh well
  316. >She gives you a hefty amount of reward money for the goon’s capture before leaving
  317. >You know Kirlia doesn’t care for money, but you’ll probably spend most of it on her anyway
  318. >She’s your little hero after all
  319.
  320. =====================================================================
  321.
  322. * No man (or Pokemon) is an island. I imagine Kirlia would feel a little weird when trying to make friends because of being raised like she was a human girl, but in the end being a Pokemon herself.
  323. Would she get along better with human kids or low level Pokemon?
  324.
  325. >Kirlia had been in the mood for another trip to the park
  326. >How could you not oblige?
  327. >Once the two of you get there, you notice that there aren’t as many pokemon out today
  328. >Kirlia appears a little disappointed she can’t spot any of her past playmates
  329. >There are a few human children scattered around, so you suggest she play with them
  330. >”...I don’t know.”
  331. >She doesn’t know? What’s that supposed to mean?
  332. >”What if they think I’m weird? They aren’t pokemon...”
  333. >You tell her when you were her age, there was nothing cooler than pokemon
  334. >She’s hesitant, but is able to separate from you and step into the open
  335. >However it doesn’t seem like she’s able to muster up the courage to actually approach anyone
  336. >It looks like she’s about to give up, but a young girl approaches her before she can
  337. >She says Kirlia looks just like her brother’s Gardevoir, and barrages her with questions
  338. >Can she teleport?
  339. >Can she move stuff with her mind?
  340. >Can she guess what she’s thinking right now?
  341. >You can tell it’s overwhelming for Kirlia
  342. >But all of the sudden, the girl stops talking
  343. >She stares in amazement, surprised she heard Kirlia “talk” to her
  344. >The girl excitedly asks Kirlia to do the same thing with her friend, pointing at another girl playing with a ball
  345. >You see the girl with the ball startled by seemingly nothing, looking around to find the source
  346. >She spots Kirlia and her friend, the latter waving for her to come over
  347. >Before she knows it, Kirlia recieves questions from two girls
  348. >After some apparent telepathic communication, one of the girls holds out her ball
  349. >To their amazement, the ball begins to levitate
  350. >In sync, the girls remark how cool that is
  351. >Something in Kirlia clicks, and the ball goes from calmly floating to expertly weaving around the group
  352. >Kirlia launches the ball at an arc, only to teleport and catch it, repeating the process to show off
  353. >Before long, a small crowd of children form to watch the show she’s putting on
  354.
  355. >The children ooh and aah as Kirlia shows off her psychic prowess
  356. >You can tell she’s having a blast, she always was a bit of a show-off
  357. >Unfortunately, she may have caused too much attention
  358. >One parent had broken conversation from another, and was marching towards the group
  359. >She grabs the arm of her child, pulling her away much to the child’s dismay
  360. >As the lady passes you, you hear her scolding the child for getting to close to a wild pokemon
  361. >That they can be dangerous
  362. >Bitch.
  363. >You hope Kirlia didn’t notice that, but looking back, you see she appears to have lost all her momentum
  364. >She gives the girl back her ball and saunters back to you
  365. >The crowd of children are disappointed, and disperse
  366. >”I’m ready to go home.”
  367. >She’s hanging her head down
  368. >Part of you wants to find that woman and give her a piece of your mind
  369. >However, you hear Kirlia’s name called out by the first two girls she met
  370. >You both turn and see them run up to Kirlia
  371. >They ask if they’ll be able to play with her again sometime in the future
  372. >Kirlia appears a little surprised, and she looks up at you
  373. >You tell the girls of course they can
  374. >One of them asks if you are Kirlia’s trainer, but you correct her, informing that you’re her father
  375. >The girls accept and gloss over the fact as if it were a common, mundane thing
  376. >They give Kirlia their names, Penny and Bailey, before saying goodbye
  377. >Kirlia’s spirits had lifted considerably after that interaction
  378.
  379. =====================================================================
  380.
  381. * Let's ask her if she's interested in getting a TM or one of those twisted spoon things.
  382.
  383. >Something catches your eye at the market
  384. >A TM stand, chock full of the devices
  385. >Why not use some of that reward money and let Kirlia pick something nice out?
  386. >You lead her to the stand, and ask the owner of he’s got anything compatible for a Kirlia
  387. >The owner grabs a stack and spreads them across the counter, asking what you’d like
  388. >Instead, you lift Kirlia up, asking what she’d like
  389. >”You’re letting me pick?”
  390. >Anything she wants
  391. >”Oh, um...”
  392. >She scans the selection
  393. >”Oh! Oh! This one!”
  394. >She grabs a red colored one to show you
  395. >Fire Punch?
  396. >You snicker
  397. >”What? Hey, it’d be cool! What’s so funny?”
  398. >Nothing, nothing
  399. >Though, should you be worried about giving her fire powers?
  400. >...Nah. Ten-year-olds run around with flaming beasts all the time
  401. >The stand owner is knowledgeable on the move, telling you the fire is really just supplementary to the punch
  402. >The flame shouldn’t be strong enough to set things on fire, only char or burn
  403. >You ask the stand owner how much it costs
  404. >After paying for the TM, the two of you get on your way
  405. >Kirlia’s excited to learn the move, but you’re not quite sure how the disc is supposed to work...
  406. >You study the thing for a bit...
  407. >...Oh, you got it. It makes perfect sense, how did you not understand?
  408. >You use the TM as intended on Kirlia
  409. >”I... I think I got it!”
  410. >You tell her to give it a shot
  411. >Kirlia ducks into a her best boxer stance
  412. >She pivots left, then right
  413. >And finally, her fist ignites as she twists into a right hook
  414. >Your heart jumps watching your daughter’s hand set ablaze, but Kirlia’s unfazed
  415. >Actually that’s not true, she’s amazed
  416. >”Woooooow!”
  417. >She turns to you with a twinkle in her eyes
  418. >”Did you see that?! Wasn’t that cool?!”
  419. >You’re glad she’s having fun
  420. >”I’m unstoppable!”
  421. >She performs a blazing left hook, which leads into rapid-spinning, flaming pirouettes
  422. >She laughs the whole time
  423. >Maybe this wasn’t the best idea...
  424.
  425. * >She picked a physical move
  426. How do we break it to her that she will never be a Gallade?
  427.
  428. * (To above) She likes to show off, I guess this is more about real life special effects while dancing than about battling.
  429.
  430. =====================================================================
  431.
  432. * Pokedad should enroll her in a contest
  433.
  434. >A contest?
  435. >”Yeah! It’d be so fun! Please?”
  436. >You aren’t too sure about it
  437. >People would be judging your daughter
  438. >How would she feel if they gave her a bad score?
  439. >Though you do know there are contests for beginners, those are probably much more lenient
  440. >All right, if she really wants to...
  441. >”Yes! Thank you thank you!”
  442. >She grabs your hand, and before you know it, the two of you are in the registration hall
  443. >There are a few categories
  444. >You think cuteness would be a good fit, or maybe cleverness...
  445. >”I want to do the coolness one!”
  446. >Coolness?
  447. >”What’s the matter? I’m cool. You know I am!”
  448. >You assure her you do know
  449. >”Then you know I can win!”
  450. >Well, if she’s really sure...
  451. >Though you make sure to tell her it’s not about winning, it’s about having fun
  452. >”Yeah, but winning will make it even more fun.”
  453. >You sigh, and register her for the beginner’s coolness contest
  454. >When it’s time, you give her a hug, wish her luck, and tell her you’ll be watching in the audience
  455. >The audience seems to be a relatively small one, and it’s not hard to find a seat
  456. >After a brief introduction, the four contestants step onto the stage
  457. >Kirlia...definitely sticks out
  458. >All other pokemon are much more imposing and edgy (literally and figuratively)
  459. >Kirlia’s completely oblivious to the contrast, excitedly waving to the crowd
  460. >She scans the audience and finds you, and you hear her voice in your head
  461. >”I’ve got this in the bag, Dad!”
  462. >You wave back and give an encouraging nod
  463.
  464. >The competition gets underway
  465. >In this beginner contest, there are three rounds for each contestant to use moves to impress the judges
  466. >For Kirlia’s first round, she plays it safe with a powerful psychic
  467. >She holds her arms up, positioned like a “Y”
  468. >The area on the stage visually twists, turns, and distorts as Kirlia bends the space around her, creating an abstract spectacle
  469. >The crowd, you included of course, cheer. The judges seem moderately impressed
  470. >For the second round, everyone gets confused as Kirlia blips away
  471. >She returns with a boulder larger than she is
  472. >She grabs it from the bottom, and lifts it straight over her head
  473. >You feel like you’re about to have a heart attack, but Kirlia is having no issues
  474. >She’s using her powers to hold the rock, just making it look like she can lift it with her hands
  475. >The judges seem more impressed at that display
  476. >For the final round, Kirlia performs a ballet dance, which would have been completely off theme had her knuckles not been on fire
  477. >Her spins, twirls and leaps leave a trail of fire as she goes through the routine
  478. >The crowd cheers the loudest they had until this moment
  479. >Kirlia notices, and can’t help but bow before her turn is up
  480. >Once all contestants have gone, they stand in a line as the judges speak amongst themselves
  481. >Finally, it’s decided that the winner is...
  482. >Kirlia!
  483. >Everyone stands up to cheer, but no one louder than you
  484. >Kirlia bows and dances under the spotlight
  485. >You reunite with Kirlia at the registration hall
  486. >”I won! I won!”
  487. >You tell her that you’re so proud, and she jumps in your arms for a hug
  488. >One of the judges approach, presenting Kirlia a ribbon with “Amateur Coolness” inscribed
  489. >She wears it with pride
  490. >The judge also congratulates her
  491. >He says they were skeptical at first, but such a fresh, unorthodox choice was just what they needed
  492. >”Unorthodox?”
  493. >You tell her not to worry, and offer to get her favorite Poke Puff to celebrate
  494. >She’s all for it
  495.
  496. =====================================================================
  497.
  498. * When you're a father and you had a shitty day, just a drawing of your child and their parents is enough to make you smile.
  499. I imagine that Kirlia, by being the natural born empath she may perceive when you feel you're tired or angry for reasons she doesn't comprehend.
  500.
  501. >Today you learned something that really put you down
  502. >An obituary of one of your friends
  503. >Well, ex-friend
  504. >You looked up his name out of curiosity
  505. >Died in some freak accident
  506. >You must’ve been around Kirlia’s age when you first became friends
  507. >But the two of you had a massive fight in your high school years, and the friendship broke off
  508. >At the time, you were happy when you went to separate schools
  509. >But reading his eight month old obituary now, it’s depressing that you’ll never get the chance to patch things up
  510. >Looking back, the argument was a really stupid one
  511. >Definitely not worth what could have been a lifelong friendship
  512. >”Dad? Are you okay?”
  513. >You turn to see Kirlia, holding a sheet of paper
  514. >You tell her you’re doing all right
  515. >”No... You’re sad. I can feel it.”
  516. >You can’t hide your emotions, she is a Kirlia after all
  517. >You say it’s nothing she should worry about
  518. >You’re just remembering a little mistake you made in the past, that’s all
  519. >You suggest she go back to her drawing
  520. >Instead, in the blink of an eye, she’s next to you and hugging your legs
  521. >”I don’t want you to be sad...”
  522. >You say again how she doesn’t need to worry
  523. >”But you always make me feel better when I’m sad. Let me do the same for you.”
  524. >She pulls away so she can hand you the paper
  525. >On it, constructed from a mish-mash of crayons and colored markers, are squiggly representations of Kirlia and you
  526. >You both have simplistic faces, like a ditto’s, standing on a nondescript grassy hill with a big yellow sun in the background
  527. >”Me and Dad at the park” is written at the top
  528. >It makes you smile
  529. >You tell her it’s a masterpiece, deserving to be put in a museum
  530. >She giggles at the complement
  531. >You weren’t expecting her to jump into another hug, but you still manage to catch her in your arms
  532. >”I love you Dad.”
  533. >You love her too
  534. >While holding her in your embrace, you wonder how you ever managed without your daughter
  535.
  536. =====================================================================
  537.
  538. * maybe one where she becomes best friends with a Gothorita and Steenee and they all want to play with you and generally do cute stuff.
  539.
  540. >Kirlia’s always been outgoing
  541. >So it’s not surprising when you look outside and see her playing with two wild pokemon
  542. >A Gothorita and a Steenee, by the looks of it
  543. >You step outside, simply just to greet them
  544. >Your presence almost scares them off, but Kirlia’s quick to explain the situation
  545. >They look at you weirdly, but Kirlia’s able to shift the focus back to their game
  546. >You leave them be for a moment, deciding to prepare snacks for the group
  547. >When you get back, you see Steenee’s taken charge
  548. >Kirlia’s the first to notice you, waving and holding up a crown of flowers
  549. >”Dad! Look what Steenee taught us to make!”
  550. >She places it on her head with a large grin
  551. >You tell her she looks very refined, like a princess. She giggles
  552. >”That means you’d be the king!”
  553. >She verbally says something to Steenee, and then with Gotherita
  554. >You set down the snacks before finding the two psychic-types leading you by the hands to Steenee
  555. >She takes a small curtsy before presenting you a crown of your own
  556. >”King Dad! King Dad!”
  557. >Any nervousness Gothorita and Steenee may have had vanish as they watch Kirlia dance around you
  558. >The two of them laugh along with Kirlia, celebrating the crowning of the new king
  559. >Kirlia kneels in front of you
  560. >”What do you command, My King?”
  561. >You chuckle. You don’t think a king necessarily gives orders to his princess like this, but why not play along?
  562. >Gothorita and Steenee join her
  563. >You try deepening your voice to achieve your best impression of a distinguished king
  564. >The three of them spend their time having fun exploring “new land” in the name of your “kingdom”
  565. >And it’s enjoyable for you too. Nothing makes you happier than seeing Kirlia in a good mood
  566.
  567. =====================================================================
  568.
  569. * Does she like theme parks? I'd just like to imagine her enjoying some cotton candy.
  570.
  571. >Kirlia had been very excitable on this trip, taking in the new sights
  572. >But nothing got her more excited than the Ferris Wheel in the distance
  573. >Some sort of fair or park. Likely has other sorts of rides as well
  574. >”Can we go? Please?”
  575. >Why not, while you’re here?
  576. >”Yes! Come on, let’s go!”
  577. >You hold out your hand, and Kirlia quickly takes a hold
  578. >In an instant, you’re at the entrance gate
  579. >Apparently there’s no entrance fee
  580. >Kirlia bounds to the Ferris Wheel, and beckons you to hurry
  581. >Luckily, each capsule can hold two people
  582. >Once you’re off the ground, Kirlia jumps from corner to corner, looking out past the city from the glass
  583. >”Look how high we are! I feel HUGE! Look at that!”
  584. >Kirlia pulls you to the side of the capsule, pointing where she wants you to look
  585. >You peer out, finding...Kirlia, waving back at you from the top of a building
  586. >You look back at your side where she teleports back, laughing at her little trick
  587. >She laughs louder as you pat her head
  588. >Curiously there were also indoor roller coasters, which Kirlia was eager to try, but quick regret
  589. >On the first ride, she spent the entire time clinging to you with her eyes closed
  590. >You ask if she wants to do something else, but she’s determined to restore her honor
  591. >”I-I won’t be so s-scared next time...! I swear!”
  592. >She holds a braver face on the second ride, although she still grips your hand extremely tight
  593. >You end off the day satisfying Kirlia’s curiosity on what cotton candy tastes like
  594. >You buy her a piece, which she takes an excessively large chomp out of
  595. >”It’s melting in my mouth!”
  596. >She’s lucky she communicates with you telepathically, else you wouldn’t have been able to understand her
  597. >The sugar gives her some extra energy, but that’s quick to burn away
  598. >She yawns as the sun begins to set, and you offer to carry her as you leave
  599. >She holds her arms up, and you lift her into yours
  600. >It doesn’t take long before she’s asleep, cradled in your arms
  601.
  602. * >Kirlia pulls you to the side of the capsule, pointing where she wants you to look
  603. >You peer out, finding...Kirlia, waving back at you from the top of a building
  604. You got me with that part. It's very heartwarming when kids surprise you with tricks like that.
  605. Thanks, again, for your stories. They make me happy.
