Social capital refers to all the resources available in and coming from personal as well as business networks and such resources include ideas, information, leads, financial capital, power and influence, emotional support, trust, cooperation and even goodwill. In social capital, no single person is an owner of these resources rather they reside in networks of relationships.

  17. Intelligence – It depends on inherited gene though, but intelligence is shapeable and increases through various kinds of measures such as the home environment and quality of schooling. The human mind develops through relationships whereas isolation and neglect kill intelligence.
  18. Education – Since literacy is a function of educational opportunities as seen in this scenario: we read and write because others such as parents, friends, and teachers taught us. It means that education is an important part of human capital and making our personal investment such as going to college is possible through relationships with others.
  19. Effort – The amount of effort invested in any project is relative to various social context. An individual will probably work hard at high-productivity workplace than in a low-productivity area. It is a fact that efforts are influenced by social environment. Likewise, our goals are influenced by our cultural background.
  20. Chance or Grace? – Many great discoveries happened by chance – grace. For instance, accidental discovery helped so many scientific and technological breakthroughs. Being in the right place at the right time plays a major role in success because some of these great discoveries never happened by chance.
