  1. As with most of these pastebins that go on for a billion years, I phased in and out of this one over the course of a few hours while getting distracted by things. I also took some cold meds about halfway through lol. Thoughts are hopefully decently organized, but might be odd.

  3. SGDQ was fun. I didn't go this first couple days because I wanted to save a couple vacation days. I missed a couple things that people didn't let me forget that I missed, but I think I'll probably be ok with it all in the end because having to do weeks upon weeks without a day off grind me like no other. I'll probably end up using those days to schedule some of the longer stuff I still have on my plate, but more on that later. People were also kind of giving me a hard time about not hanging out with them, and I know they weren't serious, but I'm sorry I couldn't do everything with everyone. I probably could have been more vocal about it, but it did kind of bum me out when everyone seemed to be giving me a hard time about it. Guess a passive aggressive section of a pastebin will have to do.

  5. Fun things that I did included, but not necessarily limited to: Playing Mario Tennis: Aces all night Tuesday night with the Drinky Drinks Crew and becoming an e-sports Donkey Main. Getting a boatload of crabs and discovering Brossentia and I communicate in ways that even we couldn't understand. Doing an escape room with #christian-mingle and being OHSOCLOSE to getting out. Singing with friendos including a LIVE #BustinThursday. Brewery with THEEEEEEEEEEEE CT, yuna, flek, and EBC. SMB3 practice room races with a host of different people, I didn't even get last place in all of them. Crackin a cold one with the boys and trying to figure out if 2 game Pokemon runs are interesting or not. Large amount of meat sweats and delicious cheesecake at FOGO with aardee, lawso, ryden, larix, cujo, teacup, and a very persistent waiter that kept serving us the house sirloin. Barcade + Russian bar with amazing moscow mules and stroganoff. Mario Party 4 game with kosmic, Jarvitz, and GTAce where I won because that game is completely skill based. Semi-randomly assembling the five pieces of #TeamReznor for a reunion pic. George of the Jungle still holding up. Quiplash and matchboxmatt art and johncarls commentary in the Todd Rogers Suite and not wanting to fall asleep the last night. Saw a lot of old friends, made some new ones. Hugging people. Other things that I forgot.

  7. Looking back, I played an absurdly low amount of video games at a place designed for people that liked to play video games to get together. I only practiced twice, once in the practice room while Cujo and Mitch were racing once, and again in the private practice room with tinahacks (big fan). There were 3 SMB3 races that I was in with some collection of Roop, Cujo, Horsedad, and Lawso, and then the casual Mario Party and MT:A were it.

  9. My run went pretty well, all things considered. Wanna give another shoutout to auth, john, and horsedad for making the commentary fun. Apologies to auth (and anybody else who legitimately cares about tarchan) for not getting sub 20, I really had initial aspirations to get a much better time (or even a better time at all) but for a number of different reasons that didn't happen, more on that later (maybe). I also forgot to thank dots for the practice rom, and also started to but lost my train of thought on mentioning that there *might* be a "good" ending for the game, but it was 6 AM and I was ded. The interview beforehand was pretty fun; Proto did a great job of keeping things chill and funny, yet informative. I had talked here and there with EoN, and had never met PARTYMAN X, but I think we all felt pretty comfortable up there joking together.

  11. Couching for SMB1 and SMB3 was a lot of fun. SMB1 race was cool and kosmic's OneHand run was fun to just joke around while he dazzled everybody. SMB3 was... yeah... listen, I'll just say 2 things: 1. consoles on a floor are a bad idea and B. Mitch and Poo did a great job of playing it off and still playing SMB3 to (mostly) completion. We were once again planning on having a pretty chill and laid-back atmosphere anyways, but we were definitely thrown for some loops. Overall, it seems like people really enjoyed it, and again I have to give all the props to Mitch and Poo for handling things so well. Yet again, I forgot to do something; this time forgetting to mention the Warpless Tourney, but with all the other stuff happening, I can't think of a great time I could have squeezed it in anyways.

  13. Hotel and location and all that were cool, sounded like people were pretty pleased with it. Took a second to figure out where stuff was, but once I had that down it was really nice. Decent spots for some food all around, and you could drive/uber to a lot of other places easily. I think I may got a little bit of the sick, but after taking some meds it's not too bad, so I think I avoided the worst of it.

  15. Now that SGDQ stuff is done, guess it's time to talk about what's next. On stream, expect to see SMB3 stuff. The tourney is kicking off soon, so I'll be working on Warpless, both doing attempts/practice to derust and improve, as well as recording simple strat videos for people to (hopefully) learn from. Idk if I'm gonna work on anything else, other than the inevitable 12-Hour Challenge coming up. In non-speedrunning things... I got an n64 everdrive in the mail the day before I left, so expect some fun stuff with that. Might play through OoT casually on-stream, and then eventually try OoT rando again; I quite enjoyed the "co-op" race? playthrough? thing? with Sky, so I wanna give that another shot. Also I'll probably play some SM64 hacks, and of course the MP3 Story Mode Glibathon 8 incentive. Also gonna work through the other Glibathon 7 incentives still on the table, we'll knock those out as I feel like it. Other casual stuff includes more Boshy, possibly DKC3 finally maybe? and I'm debating setting aside a day each week to show off my incredible lack of intelligence with a bunch of puzzle games I want to play. (I'm thinking of calling it ThinkingFaceEmoji Thursdays, but it kind of clashes with #BustinThursday... so we'll see) If you haven't figured it out, things have and probably will be a bit more casual on stream; I get a feeling that while I'm not completely lacking speed motivation, the desire to really grind anything isn't striking me right now. Mario 3 usually brings it back out in me, so kind of hoping that happens. Whether or not it just ends up being me grinding SMB3 for awhile, or leads to me wanting to learn/work on something else as well, I don't really know. Don't have any specific plans, just gonna play it by ear for now.
  16.
  17. As for future events, I'm probably gonna submit for GDQx; if I get in, I'll go, if not, I won't. AGDQ will depend on a couple of things, but might end up being the same story. As much as I love going to the events and seeing people, it's tough to make it all happen, for a lot of different reasons. We'll see, I've been on the fence about the last couple GDQs and ended up going to both, so 2-6 months down the road I could change my mind again.

  19. ***QUICK PERSONAL UPDATE***
  20. Still not where I want to be, but working on it. Trying my darnedest to not let it affect things, but it definitely is. Hopefully I'm taking the steps needed to get to a better place. We'll see. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  23. So yeah, there's that. Video games, amirite?
  24.
  25. TL;DR: SGDQ was fun, the stuff I was involved with didn't suck, don't know when the next one for me will be. Gonna keep playing video games, they may or may not be fast.
