So basically my parents were told there was no way I'd ever walk and they'd get me a wheelchair when I was big enough
But they didn't give up and when I was 11 months old I had back surgery
And I think my dad I was back there for 10 hours
And even after that my parents were told it may have done nothing for me and it was still pretty unrealistic I could walk ever
So when I was like 19 months or so I started to show interest in belly crawling

And I guess her lessons paid off cuz she didn't give up and always said "I know she can do it if I help her!" and when I was 2 I could fully crawl

My dad had been deployed (he was in the air force) for like 10 months

so last he was I could barely belly crawl

and my mom took me to get it checked out, I had to have an MRI (I fell asleep 😛) and a bunch of X-Rays and everything and finally they came to the conclusion that I had scoliosis
And it wasn't very bad
And wasn't noticeable
(btw if u don't know scoliosis is when your spine curves)
and they said it would heal on its own
(I do :p, and I also had an MRI, and also fell asleep xD)

and it's gotten a lot worse
and it's super noticeable and makes me feel awkward and deformed
and it also hurts a lot

I have a kinda weird prayer request 😛 So I'm (sometime soonish, my mom is still trying to get an appointment) going to a hospital near us to get like X-Rays and stuff of my back and idk what else they'll do cuz I really don't complain much but my back has been srsly bothering me and also it was supposed to just fix itself on its own and it hasn't and it's kinda gotten worse and normal things I used to be able to do are now painful.... even making my bed hurts... so plz pray that my back is, I guess, good enough that it can and will heal but also that it's bad enough that they actually decide to do something about it! Anyways yeah...Oh also I'm only sending this to a very small amount of people who are actually closer to me so if you tell anyone to pray don't say my name also cuz I don't want everyone to know and I don't wanna be the person who whines and uses medical conditions to get away with things...

Sure, I say I still love ya and things jokingly at times
but deep down, I really do
and really care for you

and your letting a medical condition define you as a person
sure, it's going to hurt, maybe a lot at times
(don't forget to offer it up for other people who are suffering, and the souls in purgatory)

who are they? when they don't understand what you're going through
I met a person two days ago who was sitting on the sidewalk
outside of a fancy restaurant in these horrible clothes
bugs all around her and what not
the people passing by her were throwing things at her, pieces of dirt and grass
and she was still smiling at them, and saying that she would pray for them
(I was walking around outside I condo I'm staying at for vacation this week by my self)

she was raped a few weeks before, and her parents disowned her for it, a crime she had nothing to do with
and this girl
who's just sobbing in my arms at this point
a total stranger
just needed someone to talk to
to let all the hurt just wash away
and from what I saw in that half an hour or so with her
she might have been on of the nicest people I have ever met
but she didn't let what was happening to her
define her as a person
and also
I know when everyone around you is making fun of you it can be pretty hard sometimes

but as you can see with that
you're joined by 3 million people
every single year
rest assured this does not in anyway change how I think about you
in fact, I may love you a tiny bit more ❤ 😉
and I will be praying for you every single day
and I'm tell you know now, if you ever just want to let something go
talk to someone, ask for advice, whatever

It's #worldprematurityday and this is my story. I was barely 22 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child. The same day the levees broke in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, my water broke. Krystof and I rushed to the hospital fearing the worst. We literally had to beg and plead for my child's life, as we were repeatedly pushed to terminate. I spent 19 days on hospital bedrest, while my husband continued his residency at the same hospital, and my parents took in our then 2 1/2yo and 11mos old. Natalie Amelia was born at 25weeks 1 day at a whopping 1lb 8oz. We still had to fight for them to give her a chance, and she fought hard for over 4 months in the NICU. We brought her home shortly after her due date, though she remained on oxygen and medically fragile for her first two years of life. Now, she is a tall, skinny 11yo who still has that same fighting spirit. She lives and breathes now just as powerfully and passionately as she did then. My daughter is living proof that God is still in the business of miracles. I owe her life to Him, to the hundreds of people around the world who held us up in prayer, especially when I was too numb to pray myself, and to the amazing medical staff at the UPMC Magee-Women's Hospital NICU
