- **To propose that the National Assembly for Wales;**
- 1. Notes a report published by London Economics counted 47 Welsh organisations engaged in space-related activity. Notes London Economics also reported a British space industry income of £14.8 billion in 2016/2017.[1]
- 2. Further notes Llanbedr Airfield was considered a candidate for the location of a spaceport in 2014 by the British commercial spaceport competition.
- 3. Notes the UK Space Conference is to be held in Wales, at the International Convention Centre between the 24th and 26th of September 2019.
- 4. Recognises excellence in Welsh research including Aberystwyth University in developing Mars rover vehicles and the Beagle 2 mission. Further recognises Cardiff University in their work with the European Space Agency in the study of exoplanets.
- 5. Further recognises the value of the space industry to the Welsh economy.
- 6. Calls on the Minister for Finance to make a statement to detail how the Welsh Government intends to support the growth of the Welsh space industry.
- 7. Further calls on the Welsh Government to consult the Department for Transport in funding a spaceport in Wales, or to encourage private funding.
