Q: What are you trying to do?
A: Beat Pokemon Emerald as fast as possible without using glitches.

Q: What are you playing on?
A: A GameCube using a GameBoy Player.

Q: What is the world record?
A: 2:34:24 by BafflingAmoeba.

Q: What Pokemon do you use in this run?
A: I use Mudkip as my main Pokemon until I catch Rayquaza, which I use for the Elite Four. I catch Abra for Teleport and Taillow/Swablu for Fly. I also receive Castform for free and use it in several double battles.

Q: Why choose the girl?
A: It makes the second rival fight much easier. The boy leads with Slugma, which generally will only stall you with Yawn. The girl leads with Wingull, which can use Growl or Supersonic, both of which can end the run.

Q: Why are you resetting?
A: Probably because my Mudkip's stats are bad or I died.

Q: Why are you checking your trainer ID?
A: Each ID corresponds to a unique list of Mudkips by frame. The game runs at 60 frames per second, and the Mudkip I receive corresponds to the frame on which I select it in Prof. Birch's bag. So if I select Mudkip 8,000 frames after trainer ID 12345 is generated, I will receive the Mudkip for frame 8,000 and trainer ID 12345. I type my ID into a Java program created by MKDasher, and the program shows me the list of Mudkips.

Q: What stats are you looking for?
A: At least 23 IV Attack, 13 IV Sp. Atk and 10 IV Speed (assuming a neutral nature). I also have specifications for boosting and hindering natures. MKDasher's program displays all Mudkips that meet those constraints within a 300-frame window, and I aim for a good cluster.

Q: Why are stats so important?
A: Bad stats cause me to die in important fights. Good stats allow me to save turns and outspeed certain Pokemon.

Q: What is your goal time?
A: I don't care about the time as much as my execution, but I doubt anything above 2:33 will satisfy me. An actually good time in this game is 2:31 or lower, but that probably requires more resetting than I have patience for.
