  2. Hi all,

  4. I am a random player looking to specialize in a particular breed to make me climb the ladder bars and [TROLL ON] to qualify for the Iron Squid 3
  5. [TROLL OFF].
  6. After extensively tested in three races and team games trying things solo, I decided to play Protoss for the style and history of the race (it's a bit Asgard in Stargate: we know that we will turn our will but say to the end).
  7. Unfortunately the style and lore does not help in ladder, I extract my parts
  8. following advantages and disadvantages that race before my eyes.
  9.  
  10. Protoss benefits:
  11. - Chronoboost giving a slight advantage early in macro and outputting THE zealot who will stop the 6-pool.
  12. - Ability to warp their units anywhere on the map, which gives capabilities harass interesting.
  13. - Shield that regenerates still an asset to harass.
  14. - Spellcasters lower than their Terran or Zerg but very micro-intensive and
  15. with interesting spells. (I love the mass hallucinations).

  17. Disadvantages of Protoss:
  18. - Macro weaker than Terran (mass + OC mules) or Zerg (mass hatch into drones insta 80)
  19. from the middle game.
  20. - Units expensive, fragile and require a great microphone to be profitable.
  21. - Heaviness of the tech tree switches with long and difficult to hide.
  22. - No real ability to put pressure on the opponent early, which encourages camping
  23. (Yuck).
  24. - Race reactive gas, forcing a permanent scout the opponent, which, combined with the complexity of switch previously stated, gives the impression of suffering each party.
  25. - No actual composition viable late game, the game must be folded before the Zerg do
  26. so its T3 + insta reprod or the Terran gets to the omni-drop with defense
  27. impenetrable based PFS and bunkers / turrets.
  28. - The Zealot is a unit quasi-systematic as well as Terran against Zerg, the fact that
  29. the tape teaspoon makes it extremely vulnerable to the problems of pathfinding.
  30. - The tower (often nerfed rarely matched), which is the big flaw in early and remains a
  31. vulnerability middle / late.
  32. - The gun is just photons static defense most of the game moldy
  33.  
  34. Regarding my style of play, I like the parts where intense fighting begins gl hf and gg with the stops. The macro that's life but the parts where there is that the macro up to 200 pop and where everything takes on a fight, it's puke. Anyway, arrived in late game, the Protoss is systematically dislocated.
  35. I love the capacity to harass Protoss base drop dt / estate / sentry and others ...
  36. hallucinations to do a little mind game and help tanker. The blink is a pure delight by

  38. On three MUs Protoss, I manage quite well PvZ (70%) and PvP (60%). By cons I'm almost always run over in PvT (12%). And this is where I despair.
  39. I know that the game is balanced for PGMs and non beginners like me. And still I have some doubts when I see how Terrans roll on everything and anything in Korea.

  41. But at my level (silver league), not only the Terran race is much easier to
  42. handle and use (like all other RTS, a player from AoE or
  43. C & C will have no problem to play Terran), but it is also omnipresent. Parts of 10, I
  44. meets approximately six Terrans, Zerg and 1 Protoss 3. That fact that I became strictly
  45. impossible to get money.
  46. I walked the Terran and Protoss sections of the forum in search of viable solutions which are not of cheeses (the kind that can pass rush dt against a Terran afk) but
  47. actually nothing done. The cons harass Terran is almost useless because it can instadrop 20 mules to offset lost 50 SCVs. Attack a Terran in frontal
  48. impossible because of the PFS / bunkers / turrets / PDDs. Leave it in the corner is not an option either because this will be outmacro (always due to mule). Not to mention the many cheeses early game (5-6 rax, mass reapers, 1-1-1, etc ...) which are both difficult to scout (ramp closed quickly and the first obs too late) and extremely complex to push, even with microphone, while Terran just needs A-click. Most of the parts where I can survive the initial cheese ending trade in the Terran base that consistently wins (PFS repairable CBs flying ...)

  50. Too, but I know that it will fall into deaf ears (blibli huh?), I propose
  51. change the Terran units following:

  53. 1. The Navy. DPS too, completely indestructible except with many
  54. AoE (and still do) but the colossus and HT arrive well after the 6-rax. He should be
  55. add a firing animation stutter step because this is just a technical
  56. parkinsonism without skill. It would also lower its DPS, even increase its
  57. 5 PV life example. Finally, the ability to stack them BioBall is ridiculous
  58. Has anyone ever seen foot shoot through their own ranks??? It should therefore be
  59. widen the base of the unit, or when a marine is on the path of a fire
  60. other, take the first part of the damage.

  62. 2. The MULE. This small UGV makes futile any cons harass Terran. Terran losing a 20 -
  63. 30 SCVs remains largely in the game and if the Protoss lost too many units in the

  81. balance the lower league game, as the PST is AutoWin for Terran. Moreover, with the release of HotS, the pros will migrate, it will be possible to create a balanced WoL ladder.

  83. Honestly, when I see that with a 60 average APM and B3 9 minutes, I am
  84. beat by 20 Terrans who ask their APM B2 bomber sending their push, I
  85. find it completely smoked. Moreover Terrans do scoutent ever, they are only
  86. reproduce the same BO and blindly swinging a scan at the last moment to see
  87. A what-click basis. The worst part is that this is the current metagame and it easily passes through the deficiencies of the Protoss race.
  88. And when I see the Terran forum complaining while playing a race and no brain
  89. roll on everything, it just makes me puke. Try playing protoss are trying to survive against a Terran, you will understand your pain.
