  1. <Alivi> I WILL MURDER HIM
  2. <Alivi> Omg
  3. <Alivi> he has come into my room while I am working over 6 times
  4. <Alivi> and the last one was the last straw
  5. <Alivi> Ive been telling him to eat the deli meat he wanted me to get for him ages ago.
  6. <Alivi> Its over 3-4 weeks old now
  7. <Alivi> right?
  8. <lurkd> .tell Gara http://scpsandbox2.wdfiles.com/local--files/lurks-lair/Loren.png
  9. <Glacon> lurkd: I'll pass that along.
  10. <Alivi> He comes in. "So….when meat is slimy to the touch….is it good to eat."
  11. <Alivi> ……YOU ARE A SCIENTIST HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW THIS
  12. <Alivi> AgentFlowers: T.T
  13. <PaulS_laptop> that meat should still be fine, provided he cooks it
  14. * PaulS_laptop once ate 4 month expired sausage. it wwas remarkably salami-like
  15. <Alivi> it is deli meat
  16. <Alivi> as in cold cut
  17. <Alivi> as in it spoils faster
  18. <PaulS_laptop> even cold cuts. Just take it and throw it in a frying pan
  19. <PaulS_laptop> quick sear and it'll be safe to eat
  20. <PaulS_laptop> and, if bologna, positively delicious
  21. <PaulS_laptop> (fried bologna sandwiches are <3)
  22. <Alivi> PaulS_laptop:
  23. <PaulS_laptop> if he doesn't want it, I'll eat it
  24. <Alivi> As a person who cooks, and has researched food science.
  25. <PaulS_laptop> Alivi:
  26. <Alivi> It is really really really unsafe to do that.
  27. <PaulS_laptop> I've only ever gotten sick from ffood once. And that was the one time I let my ex cook for me.
  28. <Alivi> It is fine for you if you want to take the risk. But just cooking meat that is expired or bad can still be harmful and can still cause food poisioning.
  29. <Alivi> It is why resturants dont keep products for too long
  30. <PaulS_laptop> "does it smell okay?" is generally my rule of thumb
  31. <Alivi> but if it is slimy you shouldnt eat it either
  32. <PaulS_laptop> but then, I'm also on Fish and Game's roadkill list
  33. * PaulS_laptop legit eats roadkill
  34. <Alivi> good for you?
  35. <Alivi> lol
  36. <PaulS_laptop> so my standards are fairly low

  39. <Alivi> Ive had food that though the meat didnt smell off, the slimy texture and then bad taste left it pretty bad. Even after I cooked it
  40. <PaulS_laptop> he should eat it, or give it to me. I'll eat it
  41. <Alivi> it is just better to be safe than sorry.
  42. <Alivi> I dont think he should and I told him he should throw it out.
  43. * PaulS_laptop morally opposed to wasting food
  44. <Alivi> as am I. But if it is bad and inedible. Then you shouldnt eat it
  45. <Alivi> It is risking disease.
  46. <PaulS_laptop> then cook it well and call it good
  47. <PaulS_laptop> unless it smells off, then it's too far gone, and probably best used as bait
  48. <Alivi> You cant really cook it though.
  49. <Alivi> This isnt the type of bacteria you can just cook away
  50. <Alivi> it is off. It is done. It is unsafe to eat.
  51. <PaulS_laptop> slimy is not an appropriate indication of offness
  52. <PaulS_laptop> because slimy is surface stuff
  53. <PaulS_laptop> brb, have to put the car out
  54. <PaulS_laptop> back
  55. <Alivi> ok
  56. <Soulless> Ok so
  57. <Soulless> Let's not talk about generally unsafe foo practices
  58. <Alivi> Soulless~
  59. <Soulless> food
  60. <Alivi> How have you been
  61. <Soulless> even if you disagree with them
